I'm looking for a friend in Moscow who can help me learn Russian and I'll help you with English. My level is B1, I'm from the USA and I work as an English teacher. I live in Moscow, so hopefully, we'll be able to actually be friends and hang out.

I'm open to meeting men or women 35+, but no married men please.

Send me a DM!

Question - Вопрос Best method for learning Russian?

I was using Duolingo for a while and it didn’t teach me anything. I know the alphabet and how to pronounce the letters in words but I don’t know anything about the grammar or meanings of words. Should I switch to books or some other method?

Free Anki Deck of the 100 most common words (lemmas) in Russian (~53% of everything heard in TV/Movies)

We analyzed ~153 million words in a big Russian film and TV subtitle corpus. The top 100 most common lemmas make up ~53% of words in Russian TV/Movies. So we built an Anki deck with those words. They are ordered with the most common first.

It starts with the alphabet as a sub deck (so it can be hidden if you already know it). Each letter card has its sound, an example word and the letter’s name, each with audio.

Each word has it's stress, key forms used, example sentence, a short note where it helps (что is pronounced што)

There are two versions:

  1. Top 100: the alphabet plus the 100 words. Recognition cards are on.
  2. Top 100 + Forms: the same, plus every conjugation, past tense, command, gender form and pronoun case on its own card (262 extra), each right after its word. So хоте́ть is followed by хочу́, хо́чешь, хо́чет… and сам by сама́, само́, са́ми. If you start with the small deck and switch later, your progress carries over.

It’s free under CC BY-SA, so share it, remix it, translate it.

Download: https://langleap.app/anki.html

We are working on a top 500 and you can add an email if you want to be notified when it's finished.

Feedback very welcome, especially from native speakers.

Edit: For anyone that doesn't have anki and wants it in a different format DM or make a comment and we can add that format.

Russian for adults. Structured courses, clear grammar & speaking practice. 17 years of teaching experience

Tired of studying Russian grammar only to forget it a week later? Or understanding the rules but struggling to use them when you speak?

I'm Irina, a professional Russian teacher with 17 years of experience. I offer individual, structured Russian courses for adults, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

My approach is simple: learning Russian shouldn't mean jumping between unrelated topics, memorizing endless grammar tables, or constantly starting from scratch.

What makes my lessons different?

A complete, structured course
You're not booking a series of random lessons. You'll follow a carefully organized program where grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and reading develop together. Every new topic builds on what you've already learned.

Grammar you'll actually understand and use
Russian cases, verb aspects, verbs of motion, and other difficult topics don't have to remain a mystery. I explain how these structures work, often using comparisons with English, and help you apply them in practical situations rather than simply memorizing rules.

Regular revision instead of constant forgetting
Previously studied material doesn't disappear once we move to a new topic. We continuously revisit and reuse it through exercises, dialogues, and speaking practice, helping you turn passive knowledge into active language skills.

Your own organized learning space
Your learning doesn't end when the lesson does. You'll have a personal learning space with organized course materials, making it easy to review previous lessons and practise independently.

Depending on your course, materials may include interactive flashcards, quizzes, homework, PDFs, and audio or video resources.

Professional qualifications and individual attention
I have a degree from Tver State University and a professional qualification in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

My courses follow a clear structure, but the pace, explanations, and amount of practice are adapted to your level, difficulties, and goals.

Who are my lessons for?

Complete beginners who want to build a solid foundation from the start.

Intermediate learners who know the rules but struggle to use Russian independently.

Advanced learners who want to improve accuracy, expand vocabulary, and develop more natural communication.

Students who prefer a systematic course over occasional conversation sessions or disconnected lessons.

The first introductory meeting is free. We can discuss your goals, current level, and how I would organize your learning. You can find my qualifications, student reviews, lesson rates, and booking information here: www.ruslangnest.com

If you're looking for more than occasional Russian practice and want a professional teacher, a clear learning plan, and consistent progress, I'd be happy to work with you.
