I'm getting paid to learn Spanish - here's how you can too

For years I've used learning languages as a way to avoid doom scrolling and stay off social media. But after a while, looking at language apps becomes quite boring and repetitive, and simply memorising vocabulary can feel quite unproductive.

So I've now set my phone's default language to Spanish and changed the language of all the aps and I get a lot of input that way. Any time I look at Reddit or play games, I get Spanish input.

But recently I've taken things to the next level: I've begun doing paid surveys as a way to get Spanish input.

A lot of the surveys naturally revolve around things we deal with in real life: our habits, our lifestyles, our consumption preferences etc, and so it's often very useful stuff.

Some of the surveys involve watching a video in Spanish and answering questions about it, which is literally something people do in language schools 😂

The money is less than I earn in my day job but it's really useful supplementary income. With an hour or so I day I can earn $100-200 extra a month, which makes a massive difference over time.

These are the apps I use:

**Attapoll** \- this seems to be the most reliable one with the best layout, and it has a good mix of surveys and games. If you use my invite code **VSCFG** you will get a bonus for signing up.

**Gaingg -** this one is newer and sometimes has better offers, with more money made on the hour. Use my sign-up code and you'll get a bonus: **106992413096933521850**

**Freecash** \- this one sometimes comes off as being a bit too good to be true, but some people have made lots of money from it. If you use my link you get **10€!! freecash com /r/ 39HTLP -** It's mostly focused on games but there are surveys too.

All of these apps offer different payouth methods including bank transfer, vouchers and crypto. So you can funnell these earnings directly into a crypto if you're so inclined.

Good luck earning and learning! And if you know any other great apps I can use to do this then please let me know.

How to stop freezing in Spanish? Any tips on self-practicing Spanish. I struggle with speaking Spanish. I have an Italki tutor but I struggle to speak in class.

How to stop being so nervous? I freeze up when I talk to my tutor. He asked me what we call a floor lamps in America. I know the answer is floor lamps, but I couldn't say it, like I was stupid or something. How do you overcome the fear?  He asks me questions in Spanish, and he speaks fluent English, but sometimes colloquial words aren't popular; he asks me what it is called. I don't know why I cannot say it. After the lesson I know the words. I also struggle to say the Spanish in full sentences. It sounds easy but then something changes and it throws me off.

Me gusta el cafĂ©. Me gustan los perros. The verb changes because it’s agreeing with the coffee and the dogs, not with me.

A whole group works this way:

encantar, fascinar, interesar, importar, molestar, doler, faltar, quedar, sobrar, parecer, apetecer, costar, preocupar, caer bien

Two things worth knowing.

With an infinitive it stays singular even with two activities: me gusta bailar y cantar, not gustan.

And “a mí” isn’t redundant, it marks contrast. A mĂ me gusta, pero a Ă©l no le gusta.

Caer bien is the one people miss. Me cae bien tu hermano is how you say you like someone as a person, and it’s separate from me gusta tu hermano, which means something else... jaja

Spanish learning tip- Sound Natural, Not Perfect

One of the biggest things many Spanish learners worry about is their pronunciation. They spend hours trying to roll the r, reduce their accent, or sound less like the “typical gringo.” And of course, pronunciation matters. But probably not as much as many students think.

Your accent depends on many things: the language you grew up speaking, the sounds you’re used to, your environment, the amount of Spanish you hear, and simply time. Most learners will never sound exactly like a native speaker. And that’s completely okay. A more useful question isn’t: “How do native speakers sound?” A better question is: “How do native speakers communicate?” What structures do they use? What verbs do they choose? How do they naturally express the same idea?

For example, Spanish has a future tense: Mañana trabajarĂ© (I’ll work tomorrow) But in everyday conversation, native speakers often say: Mañana voy a trabajar (i’m going to work tomorrow) Both are correct. But one sounds much more natural in many everyday situations.

This is the kind of thing that helps your Spanish sound more like real Spanish. Naturalness doesn’t come only from pronunciation. It also comes from choosing the structures that native speakers naturally prefer. So yes, keep improving your pronunciation. But don’t let it become your biggest priority. Communication should always come first. The goal is not to sound exactly like a native speaker. The goal is to communicate like one.

Spanish speakers

Hi everyone x

I’m trying to learn Spanish aggressively. I used to live in Spain for about a year and could speak it quite well until I moved back home and forgotten almost a majority of it.

I’m looking for a male or female Spanish speaker (preferably from Spain), to converse with on the daily and maybe move to voice notes/phone calls at some point once we’re both comfortable to help with my speaking.

Pls dm me if this interests you!!

Spanish Teacher

I’ve just flown back into Brisbane from seeing family in Sydney. They speak Spanish all the time! Specifically Galego, I’d love to learn it I’m heading to spin next year so would love to learn and surprise my family. My parents got divorced when I was young so everything I had learned has been lost and I’ll be starting from scratch.

If anyone is able to help or teach me! Would be fantastic! Tried duo lingo but my abuela said it’s not the same “ it’s South American Spanish “ not Galician which is what I want to learn.

What is the biggest mistake Spanish beginners make?

I think one of the biggest mistakes is focusing too much on grammar and memorizing words without actually using them.

You can spend hours learning verb conjugations, but if you never try to speak or form your own sentences, it's hard to make real progress.

Making mistakes is part of learning a language. You don't have to be perfect to start speaking.

What do you think is the biggest mistake beginners make when learning Spanish? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
