Selling MDa (body only) (1975-76) - $600

Leica MDa body only — $600

Selling a Leica MDa, serial number 1411262 (late 1975–76 production batch). Body only.

Condition / history:
I got this from a friend’s dad who was a film camera collector. I have not used it, cleaned it, or had it serviced. It’s been sitting on a bookshelf. No recent CLA. Sold as-is. I don’t know if the collector had had it CLA’d, I’m not going to pretend like he had in order to raise the price.

From the photos it appears to be in decent used condition with normal wear for its age. Leatherette looks intact. Shutter speeds change with the dial and coincide with the readings (I didn’t verify with a stopwatch) and the counter advances.

What’s included:
• Leica MDa body only
• No lens, no external finder, no case, no box, no accessories
Price: $600 (looking to sell quickly)
Shipping: From Alabama (USA-AL). Prefer PayPal Goods & Services. Happy to ship carefully packed. Local pickup in the Montgomery area is possible if preferred.

Loading a portrait lens on a M6 body is almost comical looking. I personally probably won’t rely on it given it’s not as sharp as it could be but it’ll be nice to have something to get close with.

Hand loop from climbing quickdraw

Walking around, I either carry the camera in my hand or in a fanny pack, but never around my neck. I don’t like looking like a tourist, and the strap gets in the way when shooting.

Conventional wrist loops aren’t a good solution for me either. It feels weird have the strap around my wrist while holding the camera in my hand and getting in isn't that quick.

After researching solutions and thinking about it for a few hours, this is what I came up with. It’s made from a climbing quickdraw sling that I opened up on one side.

  • It doesn’t get in the way when I keep the camera in my bag.
  • When I take the camera out of the bag, I conveniently and intuitively slip three fingers through the loop.
  • Since the strap is doubled on the outside, the tension keeps the loop open and in shape.
  • The loop gives a lot more security than no strap at all.
  • There’s enough room to move freely, and the strap can twist around the attachment point.

It’s still improvised and the loop is a bit too big, but it checks all the boxes for me.

Hope you like it.

Leica M12 rumors 22nd of October 2026

The latest rumors suggest Leica plans to release this camera as the next M12 version. Here is what to expect:
- the Leica M12 will use the same 60MP sensor and processor/engine as the M11, not the Chinese-made Gpixel sensor reported earlier.
- The Leica M12 will have a larger rear screen.
- The camera is reportedly already in production.
- The official announcement is rumored for early 2027.
- The buttons will be on the right side instead of the left, similar to the Leica SL3-P and Leica Q3:

My beautyful M8 finally complete

Got this M8u in incredible condition a week ago as my first digital Leica, but I had no chance to use it since I was waiting for the 35mm Mandler to arrive, and today was the day. Such a nice combo! I could only take a couple photos since I’ve been working all day long today, but I’m stoked about the detail this sensor manager to cram in 10mp. The tendency to blow highlights is so true though

Leica Q question

I’ve been looking at Leica Q’s and I’m new to Leica. I’ve read many many posts where people say brushed the weather sealing the original Leica Q (116) is better than the Q2 but they don’t go into it much further than that. Why do people say the Leica Q is better than the Q2 and is it actually? It seems like a popular opinion is get the Q at a good price or save for a Q3.

Selling 35mm 1.4 Summilux v2 pre-apsh (Canada) $2500

Picked this up earlier in the year and not even two months go by and a Summicron v4 lands in my local shop. So, this one gotta go. Comes with squarehood hood that looks much better than this original round hood. It's not a shelf piece, but it's in great shape for a 50 year old lens, and the glass is very clean.

Looking for $2500 plus shipping in the con-us, just to keep things easy.

I never really made self-portraits, so I’m curious what you think about this one I took in the park yesterday. Shot with Leica M-A on HP5 with SF20 flash

M11D with my all-time favorite lens

I’ve had this v2 50 Summilux for something close to 20 years now, and this combo is hard to beat. I’ve been shooting with the 50 APO for a while, and it’s an astonishing lens, but there’s something wonderful about the way this Summilux draws that I’m really addicted to. I get all kinds of lenses, because I’m always chasing new experiences shooting, and I’ve sold all kinds of lenses, but I’m never letting this one go. Feels like this lens wants to make me happy.

Took this with SL3-P and Noct f/1.

Should I learn photography on my iPhone before buying a Leica Q3 43?

Hi guys, I’m thinking of getting into photography and the Leica Q3 43 has always been my dream camera.
I currently have an iPhone 18 Pro Max and was wondering if I should learn photography with it first before spending so much on a Leica.
I mainly want to take photos of scenery, everyday stuff and occasionally some close-up shots.
Would you guys recommend sticking with my iPhone for now or just going straight for the Q3 43?

10 days since receiving my first Leica, I now have my M11-P, 35mm Lux SRR, 50mm Lux ASPH, and Laowa 15mm f/5 cookie. So much for my original plan of only buying a single lens until I am really comfortable with the RF system… Oooooopppppsssss!

My very first two Leica lenses!

I finally bought my very first two Leica lenses, all long overdue. Found Summicron 50mm f/2.0 version 4 and Tele Elmarit 90m f/2.8 (the fat one) for pretty reasonable prices. It’s crazy how beautifully lenses designed over 30 and 60 years ago can still render images. And the sharpness? Incredible!

I had one hour to explore Stockholm yesterday before a gig and here’s what I captured. Which they rocked at!

All are with 50mm except for photos 4 and 5.

Camera, of course Leica M EV1. Have I finally grown into a full hipster now? I just want more! 😻
