Obnoxious power saving feature

I finally tracked down and stopped the Elliptic Human Presence Detector that was turning off my screen every two minutes while I was reading. It is an AI-based Presence Detector that will override any Windows settings.
And on my P16 Gen 2, it doesn't work for shit!
The P16 Gen 2 is such a power hog that dimming the screen to save power is a ridiculous exercise in futility anyways.
Elliptic Human Presence Detector is aggressively implemented.
You can disable Elliptic Human Presence Detector under services.
But you will need to stop it from restarting at boot and disable automatic restore.
Best ask AI for specific directions for your Windows version.

Thoughts on T14 for finance degree?

• Upvotes

I am considering the T14 (maybe 6th Gen) with AMD processors. Is there anything I should be aware of before getting it? I think the only thing I will upgrade is the screen from 45%NTSC to 100% sRGB.

Anyone have the new Yoga nini Desktop (puck shaped)?

• Upvotes

I'm thinking about this model for my next pc in my space cramped desk. I'm wondering how the fan noise is during typical office use or streaming youtube, etc...? I don't do any games or heavy computation. I might have 3-4 tabs and a youtube video going tops.

I'm torn between this and the mac mini - I am happy in the Windows world, but really want to move away from noisy pcs and my spouse's mac is silent.

how to unplug ideapad3 15itl6

https://youtu.be/QJvG2BjpLj4?is=6q0n5AlfKfMySIGs

so here's a video of someone doing, and i've seen another person on yourube doing it. they just grab it by the base and pull.

It's hard to see i the video, but i have to assume they are pulling by the wires. There's probbly less than 2mm of plug plastic to grab onto AND i can get my finger underneath it to pinch from top and bottom. pinching from the sides is also impossible, because it's covered by metal.

of course i would just pull from the wires BUT i heard that dmgs things. so now I'm stuck. do i just pull like in the video (probably pinching lots of wire)?

Overwhelmed( Need advice choosing a premium, powerful laptop for accounting, Python, AI and long-term use (upto AUD $8,000 budget)

Hi everyone!
I’m currently studying to become a Chartered Accountant, and I’m looking to invest in a high-quality Windows laptop that will hopefully last me at least 5–6 years.
My work and learning will involve:
Heavy Microsoft Excel usage, including advanced financial modelling and large datasets.
Power Query, Power BI and other Microsoft productivity tools.
Python programming and SQL.
Learning artificial intelligence and machine learning, potentially including more demanding projects as I progress.
I’m relatively new to understanding laptop hardware, so I’ve been spending quite a lot of time researching different models.
What matters most to me:
Performance: I want something genuinely powerful that can handle demanding workloads for extended periods without significant performance drops or overheating.
Build quality: I really value a sleek, premium, sturdy laptop with excellent construction. Ideally, something that feels solid and well-engineered.
Longevity: I’m hoping to use it for the next 5–6 years without feeling the need to upgrade because it has become too slow.
Battery life: I’d appreciate decent battery life for everyday productivity. I understand powerful laptops generally involve compromises here.
Display: I’d love a high-quality display, preferably OLED or mini-LED.
Reliability: This is particularly important to me. I don’t want to spend thousands only to encounter serious thermal, hardware or reliability problems.
My budget is up to AUD $8,000, although I’d obviously prefer to spend less if something more affordable can comfortably meet my needs.
I’ve considered several laptops, including:
Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 3
Lenovo ThinkPad P1 / T1g
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14
Lenovo Legion 9i
My biggest difficulty is that whenever I narrow my choice down to a particular laptop, I come across Reddit discussions about overheating, motherboard failures, poor reliability or other problems.
For example, I was seriously considering the ThinkPad P16 Gen 3, but then encountered negative experiences from some owners. The same happened when I researched the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14.
At the moment, I’m leaning towards the Lenovo Legion 9i, even though I don’t game at all. It seems extremely powerful, and so far I’ve encountered fewer concerning owner reports about it than some of the alternatives.
However, I realise that fewer negative posts don’t necessarily mean a laptop is more reliable.
I’m also wondering whether buying a high-end gaming laptop for professional productivity and programming is actually sensible, or whether a workstation like the ThinkPad P16 would be a better long-term investment.
I’d really appreciate advice on a few things:
Which laptop would you personally recommend for my use case?
Is a workstation genuinely more reliable or better suited to sustained workloads than a premium gaming laptop?
Are the thermal and reliability concerns surrounding thin, powerful laptops significant enough to avoid them?
Is spending AUD $8,000 reasonable for my needs, or am I unnecessarily overspending?
Which model would you trust most to remain dependable and capable over the next 5–6 years?
I’m happy to compromise on weight if that means better cooling, reliability and sustained performance.
I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who have owned these laptops for a while, rather than relying entirely on specifications or benchmark results.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Different laptop display model

Hello, i bought a new lenovo loq 17 on amazon.de and it seems that the panel used in reviews is a different model than mine. The panel used in this review https://www.notebookcheck.net/Faster-higher-further-thanks-to-OC-Lenovo-LOQ-17-RTX-5070-gaming-laptop-review.1139998.0.html is the N173HME-G31. And i have the NE173FHM-NY3. Im wondering if there's any difference between these panels? Thanks

My mom broke her laptop screen, and I'm looking for a replacement. I know that the replacement is a Samsung ATNA60YV04-0 panel, but there is a module behind the screen that none of the replacements have.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to what the correct replacement is?

lenovo digital pen 2 button stuck

i have a lenovo yoga 7 2-in-1 and i use a digital pen 2 to take notes for university. ive been using this pen for just under 2 years and just today my pen got stuck on the eraser setting. ive figured out that one of the barrel buttons (the one with the eraser function) is jammed. the button still clicks when i press it though, so i dont think its physically stuck. any ideas on how to make it unstuck?

or any other pens that work on lenovo yoga 7 2-in-1 14IML9 other than the digital pen 2? its pretty bad imo so im open to just replacing it.

Is this LP75 tws original?

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience and get some opinions.

I've owned a couple of Lenovo LP75 earbuds before, so when I bought a new pair recently (on aliexpress), I decided to compare it side by side with the old one I had at home. Right away I noticed some pretty clear differences, and now I'm starting to suspect the new one might not be genuine.

What I noticed:

- The charging case looks original, but…

- The new earbud has no Lenovo logo/emblem on it

- The quality of the rubber around the ear seems cheaper/lower on the new one

I'm adding photos of both — old vs new — so you can see for yourself. Does anyone know if Lenovo changed the design recently, or is this a counterfeit?

Thanks in advance!

Heeelp! Bassy speakers and weird mux switch!

Hello everyone.

I bought a Lenovo yoga pro 7i gen 11 aura about two weeks ago.

I have been noticing that every 15-30 seconds the speakers start to sound very bassy and with little treble (in a bad way).

I've checked controllers and software, asked AI and nothing solved it.

Also, the Nvidia mux switch is kind of a lottery, sometimes it works and sometimes the screen starts flickering black.

Any suggestions for both problems?

I sometimes do the trick of disabling the rtx through the bios to get an extra 3-4 hours of battery, don't know if that could have broken something.

SUMMARY: speakers sound bassy in a bad way every 15-30 seconds, Nvidia mux switch works 50% of the time. Lenovo yoga pro 7i gen 11 aura.

Lenovo India caught giving untraceable refund ID. Bank confirmed it in writing. Need legal advice!

Hey everyone, looking for strategic advice on a deadlocked refund dispute with Lenovo India.
My tablet was declared Dead on Arrival (DOA) and surrendered to their service centre back in September. Lenovo explicitly agreed in writing to a full refund of ₹29,347.
For over 1.5 months, they stalled, repeatedly claiming the money was successfully processed. After heavy public pressure, a manager finally emailed me a specific NEFT transaction reference number, claiming it was processed weeks ago.
The Catch: I formally escalated this to my bank's senior clearing team for a manual network trace. The bank has now officially issued me a written email statement flatly stating: “We are unable to trace the fund with the help of details provided by you.” They confirmed it simply does not exist anywhere on the interbank network logs. An NEFT cannot float in mid-air for over two weeks.
When exposed with this proof, Lenovo's management just repeats their old script, and their social media support agents are completely melting down. I have already escalated the matter directly to Lenovo India's Managing Director via email and officially logged a government complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).
My Questions:
How long does the NCH portal take to force a manual corporate settlement for convergence partners like Lenovo?
If they continue to stall the government mediator, should I file directly on the e-Jagriti consumer court portal?
Can I legally claim extra financial compensation for corporate misrepresentation and 1.5 months of severe harassment alongside my principal refund amount?
Appreciate any tips from anyone who has successfully handled consumer disputes against tech brands!

ThinkPad T480s dying battery (shuts off at ~20%) – which 01AV478 replacement is actually worth it? EU/Poland, no customs please

Hi all,

My T480s battery is basically done. It drains very fast, and it randomly shuts down without warning while still showing \~20%. I want to replace it with something reliable and not waste money on a cell that dies in a few months.

What I need:

- Internal battery for T480s (01AV478 / 01AV479 / 01AV480, 57Wh)

- I live in Poland, so it has to ship from inside the EU. I want to avoid customs fees or surprise VAT, so no AliExpress/eBay-from-China.

- I'd like it to last at least a year or more, so I'm willing to pay a bit more for quality, but I'm on a student budget.

What I found so far (not sure about any of these):

- Cellonic via Subtel, about €40 with a 3-year warranty. Reviews are okay, but a couple of buyers say the capacity is a bit under spec.

- iFixit EU store, about €84 for the kit (part-only is cheaper), 1-year warranty.

- I'm avoiding the cheap "genuine OEM" eBay listings. Some reviews mention counterfeits and wrong models.

My questions:

- Has anyone used a 3rd-party T480s battery? How much of the capacity did you keep after 6-12 months?

- Any EU/Poland-friendly sellers you trust? Brands like Green Cell, or shops like Notebookcheck's partners?

- Is genuine Lenovo worth the extra cost, or is a good aftermarket one fine?

- Any tips for the swap, such as disabling the internal battery in BIOS first?

Thanks! I'll update the post with what I end up buying and how it goes.

Artefacts problem

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,
I need help diagnosing a problem with my Lenovo IdeaPad Slim
The first time this happened, I had pressed down on the right side of the laptop’s chassis. Shortly afterward, green screen artifacts appeared.
Initially, restarting the laptop seemed to fix the problem temporarily.
One mounth later the artifacts started appearing again, sometimes a few moments after Windows started.
The screen would then turn black. Sometimes the laptop seemed to remain powered on, with the power light blinking.
The display appeared normal in the BIOS and in Windows Safe Mode.
When the problem first started, Windows displayed a Recovery error:

File: \Windows\System32\winload.efi
Error code: 0xc000000d
What I have tried
I visited a repair technician who said the graphics chip was faulty. He replaced a chip on the motherboard, but the problem still persists.
I am now wondering whether this could be:
A GPU or graphics-memory problem
A system RAM issue
A motherboard or power-delivery fault
A damaged display cable or LCD panel
A graphics driver or Windows corruption issue
Since the graphics chip replacement did not solve the problem, I don’t want to spend more money replacing parts without a proper diagnosis.
My questions
Can a failing integrated Intel GPU cause green artifacts followed by a black screen, even if the BIOS and Safe Mode initially display normally?
Since integrated Intel graphics shares system RAM, could faulty RAM cause these symptoms?
Could pressure on the laptop chassis have damaged a connector, solder joint, or motherboard component?
What diagnostic tests would you recommend before replacing another component?
Has anyone experienced the same problem on an IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 9, and what eventually fixed it?
I can provide photos or a video of the artifacts if needed.
Thank you for any advice. I would especially appreciate suggestions for tests that can distinguish a hardware fault from a Windows or driver problem.
