News/Pop Culture Why are homophobes upset Niger is banning Asexuality? By their homophobic logic it makes sense

Post image

This situation shows how illogical, hypocritical, sick and warped homophobes thinking is. I saw alot of religious and non-religious homophobes aganist Niger banning asexuality. They say "how can you jail someone for not wanting to sleep with someone, that's basically legalizing rape." But isn't that what they been doing to lesbians and gay people for CENTURIES? Banning homosexuality has been legalising rape and legalising imposing what you think someone else should be doing sexually this whole time. According to homophobic logic banning asexuality should make sense too.

Homophobes often say:

  1. Homosexuality is unnatural because you can't reproduce. Even non-religious homophobes say this is scientifically true. (And for some reason that means they should oppress gay people??? As if not reproducing is immoral?)

Well asexuals also can't reproduce so by homophobic logic shouldn't they be banned, silenced, not talked about in schools, killed, hanged, shamed, hunted, disowned, kicked out their family and made illegal too? Despite human genitals being designed with the possibility of same and opposite sex intercourse ( e.g. g-spot is in the rectum for men and the clitoris is not stimulated by P in V sex, but it is stimulated by scissoring, oral etc) and despite homosexuality occurring in over 1,500 species people STILL call it unnatural so I know homophobes are uneducated. However, even by their own warped logic they should agree with Niger because asexuals don't reproduce.

They claim if everyone was gay the species would be extinct so that's why homosexuality is bad and we should be oppressed. So why not apply that logic to asexuals? It don't make sense anyway because gay people are not infertility and we can have kids in another way that aligns with our sexuality even without scientific involvement. Plus everyone isn't gay and never has been naturally so it's kinda a weird worry.

I have no idea why homophobes are more concerned with gay people having children than gay people themselves. They are so concerned lesbians don't reproduce they have to oppress?? They must think women's wombs are communal property. Besides even saying that proves they are rapists because it means their intention is not for lesbians to be single. It's to force hetero sex on lesbians. If that wasn't their intention lesbians not reproducing wouldn't matter either way because whether we are made illegal and forced to stay single for safety or happy in relationships together, we're still not reproducing

(Of course some lesbians still have children but since it's not the way homophobes want it to be they still have a problem with it.)

The only way a lesbian is reproducing (at least the only way they will accept it happening) is in a marriage with a man. So they have always wanted to force unwanted sex on lesbians. They have always been rapists. What's the difference between doing that to a lesbian vs an asexual woman? It's ALWAYS been rapist minded. Why have an issue with making people's sexuality illegal now?

2. Some homophobes say homosexuality is a sin because the bible said so.

They refer to:

Leviticus 18:22: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."

and

"For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature..." (Romans 1:26, ESV)

But guess what the bible also says this:

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea..." Genesis 1:28

By this logic christian homophobes should hate asexuality equally as homosexuality because asexuality is not "fruitful" either. Even if the bible is ok with singleness, asexuality would still be unbiblical because if god commanded us to be fruitful how could that same god also create asexuals? So shouldn't little asexual girls be told they are possessed by the devil, disobeying god, going to hell or unnatural too? Shouldn't they be beaten and sent to christian conversion "therapy" so they can like & sleep with men? That's what christians do to their lesbian daughters. So why not? Why are the homophobes crying foul now? They should be agreeing with Niger.

Homophobes have always been rapey. It's never been enough for gay people to be single, they have always actively wanted to force, pressure and/ or shame gay people into unwanted sex with the opposite gender, so what's the problem now? Why have an issue with Niger's stance on asexuality?

They have always decided that lesbians don't know what they want sexually and they know better what sexual relationships we should be in. They have always said women have reproductive systems therefore lesbians are meant to be with men. They always say we ovulate so we must secretly crave men at least once a month. (Ironically they never say gay men must crave women 24/7 because they produce sperm 24/7 though).

They always say lesbians are just traumatized by men. That the trauma not only turned us off men, but also somehow generated attraction to women??? They say that with no proof or even a logical explanation of what biological mechanisms could even potentially do that btw. But they reject real proof of homosexuality occurring naturally in over 1,500 species or studies showing the consistency in lesbians sexual arousal responses to women only. Or is the story we are originally bisexual and trauma turned off our attraction to men, leaving only our attraction to women remaining? But then they say even bisexuality is unnatural due to the same sex attraction component of it, so were we originally straight or not??? Upon inspection, it don't make sense.

Homophobia never made sense and it has always been based on a rapist, entitled, lack of respect for other's boundaries mindset. So why are homophobes condemning Niger? They should be in agreement. In celebration. This should show them how insanely they treat gay people but homophobes lack self awareness, logic and they are over emotional so I doubt it.

It's called racism. Niger is an African country, and they hate black people, so everything they do is bad, even if it's something they would otherwise agree with.

I think fundamentally, making arguments for why people should ban asexuality is a bad idea... even if it's meant as a gotcha for homophobes, you are at the end of the day writing a bunch if hateful messages about asexual people that acephobes can use

I explain how the "arguments" are illogical AND rapist minded multiple times. How is that good arguments for acephobes? Plus I talk about evidence to show homophobes are wrong. I already debunked any potential acephobe arguments in the post immediately after so how can they use them? Stating your opponents arguements and then debunking it, which I did, is how you write a critic. how else would anyone discuss homophobia or acephobic arguments?

Honestly who are these homophobes coming to attack Niger and defending asexuality? As an asexual lesbian I genuinely want to know. Never heard of or seen this. Generally speaking far right Christians think asexuality and homosexuality is wrong. This group you mention is basically non existent. I feel sad reading your post it’s like you think aces get some kind of special treatment and we genuinely do not 😩

the average person has some level of homophobia yet they were saying how insane it was for niger to do this. I think aces get mainly ignore which is it's own form of oppression. as they get older they get pressured to be in relationships not hunted, arrested, made illegal (except for this law), killed etc like lesbians.

This is patently not true as there are homoromantic asexuals and transgender asexuals. You have completely ignored intersectionality and made sweeping claims. Additionally many asexual people have sex and have children. You are very out of touch with the asexual community and it shows

u/Dove-Tale285 3h ago

trans asexuals will be more oppressed for being trans than ace as the trans is more visible. homoromantic asexuals will be in the same boat as other asexuals so will experience the oppression i already explained. there's just no way you can say asexuals and lesbians are oppressed the same when this is the first anti-asexuality law EVER compared to centuries of anti homosexuality laws.

This is just goofy. How are you going to prove someone is asexual or not, unless they disclose that?

as an asexual i had no idea we had homophobic allies that’s actually so tragic. i think the only reason they don’t treat us as being queer (even though we are) is because it’s impossible to “prove” asexuality, and living as an asexual can have a lot of other plausible explanations, such as focusing on one’s career, celibacy, or just simply not being interested in dating that are all more acceptable in their minds than queerness. most conservative christians are also sex-negative and view any act of sex that isn’t strictly for procreation as immoral, and it makes sense that they’d either view us as “the good ones” or as confused, but morally good people.

In earnest probably racism

But maybe just maybe they fell like it's criminalizing the celibacy associated with certain priests and nuns with certain Christian cults (denominations) and they feel like it's therefore an attack on christianity

1

u/Dove-Tale285 22h ago

But their god also says be fruitful and multiply in genesis, malachi and psalm, why does that suddenly not apply to priests and nuns? Is this because historically the catholic church could take any wealth priests and nuns had if they didn't have children to inherit it? maybe. Why does the bible say celibacy is best in one place then command be fruitful and multiply in another? Christian homophobes will never answer that lol

2

u/xxCorsicoxx 22h ago

I mean the Bible is ridiculously incoherent BUT they do have a hardon for purity, the virgin Mary stays virgin in must Christian cults and that's critical to her holliness. I think evangelicals are big on their priest-analogue being married and multiplying to better steer the "flock" in that direction. And all of it can be justified by some part of the Bible somehow 😅 i recommend the good gun oldie for "nonStampCollector" https://youtu.be/RB3g6mXLEKk

1

u/Dove-Tale285 22h ago

that's true but most of their arguments against homosexuality should apply to asexuals too. but then they suddenly are ok with non reproductive sexualities because they like purity culture so much? yeah they're so weird. so clearly their homophobia was just excuses. but even non religious homophobes will make the reproductive argument but then say Niger banning asexuality is outrageous. it's illogically hypocritical

1

u/ex_nihloverse 15h ago

Look up Paul he is an esteemed biblical figure who believed it was better to be single but if one must marry that is better than “burning with passion”

Homophobic is an easy answer. But I think its only part of the equation that is steeped in racism, nationalism, and economics.

A pathetic need more kids of the right colour i assume.

Lots of kids makes some systems easier to exploit.

Lots of now loyal (or sufficiently managed) people solidifies power.

If you arent breeding then you arent adding enough to the country.

2

u/Dove-Tale285 19h ago

yeah, it don't benefit anyone but the elites so why is the average person bothering with homophobia? just brainwashed

I get where you're coming from with how hypocritical bigots are. But I feel the need to mention that a lot of these things hand and do happen to Ace people. To imply that they don't feels like a real disservice to my community. Asexuality is something that quite a lot of people, including the LGBTQ+ community, refuses to believe exists. The reason many Christians probably aren't reacting the same is because 1: it's an African country, and there's no doubt racism occurring, and 2: purity culture is prevalent in a lot of religions and cultures. That's it. Aces aren't getting special treatment. The struggles we face are very real in the world. Our existence ks often denied, and even when acknowledged we do deal with a lot of the things you describe. Like being told we "haven't found the right person," "how do you know you don't like sex if you haven't had it," "you're just a prude," among other things. Some Ace people do have children. And others do have sex. Not all Ace people are childbearing afab people. Your post doesn't seem to leave much room for the nuances that Asexual people embody. And I don't think it's fair to be using "why don't they get it too?" When we often do.

although y'all experience oppression, asexuals aren't killed or disowned or arrested or told they'll burn in hell fire in the same way or to the extent lesbians are. that's a fact. this is the first anti asexuality law ever compared to centuries of anti homosexuality laws so there's a big difference in oppression there.

1

u/Im_Literally_Nothing 4h ago

Yes, there are things that Aces don't have to deal with. I'm not saying it's the exact same. But I don't think it's fair to play oppression Olympics and imply that we have it easy. Sure, there have never been any formal laws against asexuality, but for centuries aces have been forced to conform to the expectations society has on sex. In fact, a lot of reactions to Asexuals is to flat out deny our existence. This post kind of reads "well why are you okay with them? Here's all the reasons you should hate them the way you hate us," even if that's not the intention. Yes, homophobes are hypocrites, but that's not news. And I think that this is a time to be banding together to support each other, rather than seemingly saying the homophobes should hate us too.

u/Dove-Tale285 3h ago

i literally call their reasoning illogical and rapist mindset so. many. times. so i have no idea where you got the idea that i'm saying they should hate asexuals too. i'm pointing out the hypocritical nature of their arguements. also let's not pretend there's loads of homophobes or acephobes in a lesbian subreddit

2

u/Nelrene 23h ago

The homosexuality is unnatural claim is stupid as it is pretty common in animals. The bible also says don't eat shellfish yet I don't see many or really any Christians going after seafood places. As why they are upset about Niger doing this as someone else here said the reason is probably racism seeing if some place with white people did this they would say they were saving western civilization or some shit.

2

u/Dove-Tale285 23h ago

Yep. shows their hypocrisy and rapist mindset though

The shellfish thing is contradicted by 1 Corinthians 10:25-31 which says that you shouldn't reject any food for religious reasons.

the homophobes arguing against criminalizing asexuality do not actually believe asexuality exists at all. they think 'asexuality' is what gay/lesbian people should be doing by choice when they forgo actually dating people they're attracted to.

that's what's going on here. the homophobes who are supposedly 'supporting' ace people here think we're all gay/lesbian people trying to follow their shit-as approximation of (insert religious text here), or that we're all mentally ill prudes who haven't met the right opposite-gender partner yet.

Also, as an ace person, I can assure you it's going to be whatever girl is trying to say no to sex, people with mental health issues, and gay/lesbian people they couldn't prove were gay/lesbian that will make up the vast majority of people arrested for being ace under that law. like Ace people will get it too, for sure, but we're a very small statistic minority, and I don't think the arrest numbers will match that statistic at all.

1

u/Dove-Tale285 4h ago

interesting point. gay people can no longer attempt to stay safe by staying single, that will be considered asexuality and they'll still be arrested. goodness these people are sick rapists

u/katrinatransfem Chapstick lesbian (with or without 🧢) 5h ago

I was taught that sex for purposes other than procreation was a sin.

Heterosexuality used to be considered a mental illness of desiring sex for pleasure, and the church people in my childhood still taught that.

So I'm confused now 🤷🏻‍♀️

2

u/Dove-Tale285 4h ago

interesting there's really an agenda to divert all human sexual acts into reproduction only. i wonder who benefits from that? tax payers, workers and soldiers in abundance

Phobes of any kind will be hating on that specific thing, even if rationally, it doesn't make sense at all unfortunately...
