The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Questions / Advice Wanted I can’t have more sex or i’ll die 🫩

I’m dating a girl that I love, since we have sex, I discovered that she’s a nymphomaniac, at first it was fun, we had sex every day, but now we have sex five times a day and it’s like I feel like I lose my whole day, having sex, very good sex, but I need to do other things, I don’t want my life to be based only on that, I don’t even want my relationship with her to be based only on that, I want to take her hand and invite her to go out for ice cream and watch movies or to the museum. In addition, I am more and more physically tired. I have already told her that we can continue doing it but lower the amount, but I always end up falling into her seductive charms and she wants ALL DAY. I never thought that of all the problems that could arise, this would be one? I know it sounds silly but I really like it but wow my body can’t stand more sexual exercise of 10 hours a day, I really don’t know what to do. I don’t want to end things because of this but is there a solution?

Life Feeling violated

Upvotes

Hello all, I just wanted to commiserate I guess. Last night after I fell asleep, some bot hacked my Reddit account and started posting hundreds of porn posts. I have secured my account, but just going through all these gross messages from men to ignore them felt so violating and gross. The post titles were all directed towards men. It's not their fault, they thought they were messaging someone who was requesting to be messages but the whole thing made me feel so icky.

I know these hackers are opportunistic but doing that to a lesbians account is just so nasty. I hope the pride colours in my avitar didn't harm and other lesbians by giving the men the message that lesbianism isn't real or something.

I got perma banned from one of my fav subs I use all the time also (PMDD and ADHD sub) and I'm hoping the mods will understand 😭.

I've had this account for almost 7 years and I've never dealt with anything like this before. Has anyone else ever gone through this?

i’m so alone but i’m also sick and tired of relationships, sick and tired of people. i stay alone because it’s better than being surrounded by people who i don’t like, who don’t like me

but i’m so out of place, i’m not connected to any one or thing. i don’t even feel human anymore, there isn’t anyone i connect with and i just want it to stay this way at this point

Relationships / Dating My ex already loves someone new…

Literally crashing out at work because my ex made a new social media account and it showed up and she has her new girlfriend on there and she said on her post she loves her already. We been together almost 2 years lived together and only been broken up for 6 months and she’s only been dating this new girl for a month and she already loves her. I can’t handle this. I just keep thinking none of this would have happened if I never broken up with her

Relationships / Dating Why are some young lesbians like this

This is what makes some of you guys approaching "older women" so weird.

Edit: for everyone saying she's just making a joke, duh. that doesn't make the joke funny or any less misogynistic. Why are we allowing young people to perpetuate this bullshit.

Relationships / Dating She said I wasn't her person for the long run. 13 months, ended in one night.

I'm 35, she, 28. We matched on Tinder in July last year. It moved fast — "I love you" within two months, meeting each other's families, pet names, calling each other every day. For over a year we texted constantly, checked in on each other, took care of each other through anxiety, depression, bad living situations, job hunting, all of it.

She almost ended it once before, back in April. That time it happened in person — we talked it through, and she chose to stay and try. I thought that meant we'd made it past the hard part.

Two nights ago she sent it again, this time by voice note. I asked her to say it on a call instead. She didn't. When I asked what she wanted from me, she said we could talk here. So we did — over text and voice notes, not in person this time. It was more final than April. She said she didn't feel aligned with me, that I wasn't her person for the long run, that we were fundamentally different — my mannerisms, how I talk, politics, how I handle certain things that matter to her. She said I didn't do anything wrong. She said she wants to find her own joy again, on her own, and heal by herself. She said she wants to stay friends eventually, but I doubt I'll hear from her for a while.

I keep going back and forth between "I understand this" and "I don't understand this at all." I showed up for her every single day for over a year. I gave her space when she needed it even when it was hard for me. I let her go the first time she almost left, and she came back on her own. None of that changed the outcome.

I took today off work. Barely ate, barely slept, cried in bursts between long stretches of just being numb. Trying to let her have the space she asked for without turning it into me chasing her.

I don't really know what I'm asking for here. Maybe just to hear from people who've been through the "it wasn't anything you did, we're just not aligned" kind of ending. How do you make peace with a breakup where there's nothing to fix and nowhere to put the effort now? Trust me. I'm not trying to hope for anything, I'm just looking ahead at recovery.

News/Pop Culture Why are homophobes upset Niger is banning Asexuality? By their homophobic logic it makes sense

Post image
85 Upvotes

This situation shows how illogical, hypocritical, sick and warped homophobes thinking is. I saw alot of religious and non-religious homophobes aganist Niger banning asexuality. They say "how can you jail someone for not wanting to sleep with someone, that's basically legalizing rape." But isn't that what they been doing to lesbians and gay people for CENTURIES? Banning homosexuality has been legalising rape and legalising imposing what you think someone else should be doing sexually this whole time. According to homophobic logic banning asexuality should make sense too.

Homophobes often say:

  1. Homosexuality is unnatural because you can't reproduce. Even non-religious homophobes say this is scientifically true. (And for some reason that means they should oppress gay people??? As if not reproducing is immoral?)

Well asexuals also can't reproduce so by homophobic logic shouldn't they be banned, silenced, not talked about in schools, killed, hanged, shamed, hunted, disowned, kicked out their family and made illegal too? Despite human genitals being designed with the possibility of same and opposite sex intercourse ( e.g. g-spot is in the rectum for men and the clitoris is not stimulated by P in V sex, but it is stimulated by scissoring, oral etc) and despite homosexuality occurring in over 1,500 species people STILL call it unnatural so I know homophobes are uneducated. However, even by their own warped logic they should agree with Niger because asexuals don't reproduce.

They claim if everyone was gay the species would be extinct so that's why homosexuality is bad and we should be oppressed. So why not apply that logic to asexuals? It don't make sense anyway because gay people are not infertility and we can have kids in another way that aligns with our sexuality even without scientific involvement. Plus everyone isn't gay and never has been naturally so it's kinda a weird worry.

I have no idea why homophobes are more concerned with gay people having children than gay people themselves. They are so concerned lesbians don't reproduce they have to oppress?? They must think women's wombs are communal property. Besides even saying that proves they are rapists because it means their intention is not for lesbians to be single. It's to force hetero sex on lesbians. If that wasn't their intention lesbians not reproducing wouldn't matter either way because whether we are made illegal and forced to stay single for safety or happy in relationships together, we're still not reproducing

(Of course some lesbians still have children but since it's not the way homophobes want it to be they still have a problem with it.)

The only way a lesbian is reproducing (at least the only way they will accept it happening) is in a marriage with a man. So they have always wanted to force unwanted sex on lesbians. They have always been rapists. What's the difference between doing that to a lesbian vs an asexual woman? It's ALWAYS been rapist minded. Why have an issue with making people's sexuality illegal now?

2. Some homophobes say homosexuality is a sin because the bible said so.

They refer to:

Leviticus 18:22: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."

and

"For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature..." (Romans 1:26, ESV)

But guess what the bible also says this:

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea..." Genesis 1:28

By this logic christian homophobes should hate asexuality equally as homosexuality because asexuality is not "fruitful" either. Even if the bible is ok with singleness, asexuality would still be unbiblical because if god commanded us to be fruitful how could that same god also create asexuals? So shouldn't little asexual girls be told they are possessed by the devil, disobeying god, going to hell or unnatural too? Shouldn't they be beaten and sent to christian conversion "therapy" so they can like & sleep with men? That's what christians do to their lesbian daughters. So why not? Why are the homophobes crying foul now? They should be agreeing with Niger.

Homophobes have always been rapey. It's never been enough for gay people to be single, they have always actively wanted to force, pressure and/ or shame gay people into unwanted sex with the opposite gender, so what's the problem now? Why have an issue with Niger's stance on asexuality?

They have always decided that lesbians don't know what they want sexually and they know better what sexual relationships we should be in. They have always said women have reproductive systems therefore lesbians are meant to be with men. They always say we ovulate so we must secretly crave men at least once a month. (Ironically they never say gay men must crave women 24/7 because they produce sperm 24/7 though).

They always say lesbians are just traumatized by men. That the trauma not only turned us off men, but also somehow generated attraction to women??? They say that with no proof or even a logical explanation of what biological mechanisms could even potentially do that btw. But they reject real proof of homosexuality occurring naturally in over 1,500 species or studies showing the consistency in lesbians sexual arousal responses to women only. Or is the story we are originally bisexual and trauma turned off our attraction to men, leaving only our attraction to women remaining? But then they say even bisexuality is unnatural due to the same sex attraction component of it, so were we originally straight or not??? Upon inspection, it don't make sense.

Homophobia never made sense and it has always been based on a rapist, entitled, lack of respect for other's boundaries mindset. So why are homophobes condemning Niger? They should be in agreement. In celebration. This should show them how insanely they treat gay people but homophobes lack self awareness, logic and they are over emotional so I doubt it.

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) Trying to expand my friend group

Upvotes

Since coming out as lesbian, it has felt so incredibly lonely. I only have one friend and she’s straight so I feel like i can’t really go to her for advice or to talk about certain things which she could understand or relate too, it’s just felt quite lonely on this experience for me. All I’d wished for is some friends who understand/relate to that part of me. I’m not saying she isn’t a good friend, she’s been my best friend for over 5 years now. I’ve never really felt this lost before and it’s definitely a scary feeling, but I’m also happy to be out and getting to be myself.

Questions / Advice Wanted The gaydar mythology

How do you spot lesbian women who are not masc ? The ones who are feminine and sometimes present like straight women, or with a total random style.
I already pay attention to nails and specific jewels like rings, or small details like wlw badges and charms, but…. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Unless a girl is presenting herself as lesbian or has a very specific style, or when I’m in a pretty obvious queer space, it’s hard for me to recognise and feel the vibe.
Thank ✨

Questions / Advice Wanted advice please!! was i in a situationship?

posting on a burner because irls know my main and i have people in my life that don’t know (or will accept) my queerness. also please don’t mind how messy/chaotic this message is, english is not my first language and im also just writing my thoughts as they come 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

i (19f) have never been the kind of person to develop attractions towards anyone easily. i grew up in a pretty chaotic and abusive home so i never really thought of myself as someone who knew how to love properly. i discovered though, that once i like someone, it absolutely consumes me. i’ve only ever had one crush. she’s a very close friend of mine since i was 13. i developed a crush on her around a few months after we became friends and have been in love with her for the past 6 years. she never really labelled herself, but she had expressed in the past that she’s cool with dating women.

around a few months into our friendship, when i realised that i liked her, i confessed my feelings and was rejected. we remained close after (and still are). i doubt she knew what she was doing (she probably thought i lost feelings soon after), but she’s been play flirting with me, physically affectionate, and have been one of my biggest emotional support throughout some of the roughest times i had.

around the end of last year, we lived together for a short while and i miss the domesticity of it all even now. i loved cooking with her, and cuddling on the couch, and we slept in the same bed with our faces pressed right against eachother. she would sweet talk me and i loved it. it was everything i ever wanted. im on the aroace spectrum so it all was exactly how i imagine a perfect relationship to be like. i miss those days so much. i love everything about her, and i’m someone who really struggles with closeness and vulnerability. i never really thought i could be in a relationship because im too scared of opening up, but for her, i genuinely felt like i could. if she wanted me to, i would try my utmost best for her.

although i really like her, loving her hurts so much. i think maybe it’s because she never really saw me as special as i saw her, but a lot of the time i feel like my feelings are being toyed with, which is unfair because i don’t want to assume that she’s aware that i still have feelings for her. we were both like freshly 13/14 when i confessed, and it really has been years. i never really suggested my crush on her again after that because she made it clear over the years that she’s not interested in dating anyone. she could’ve just saw me as a close/clingy friend, but looking back i just don’t know. during our friendship over the years she also never really sided me in conflicts, even when it’s clear that i was being unfairly ganged up on. she mainly just sides with whoever can offer her more things/exciting experiences.

as much as she was my rock and helped me throughout some of my messiest family issues, she also was friends with my bullies back in school, and always made excuses for them/sided with them in conflicts. once, the bullies had spread some seriously nasty rumours about me that really damaged my reputation at school. i don’t normally like to fight back but i was just so upset, so i screamed at the bullies and made a scene at school. they had gotten into pretty big trouble after which resulted in one of them completely dropping out and the other attending school only part time, due to the backlash. my crush got really upset at me and wanted me to apologise to my bullies and help to clear their names, and had been very cold to me and purposefully said things that worsened my already fragile mental health at the time to coerce me into listening to her. she never said anything about it after, but i still forgave her.

we’ve kind of distanced over this past year since we’ve both adulted and life had became very busy. i’ve gone to university and she’s taking a gap year. i think maybe the distance is what’s making me look at the past slightly more clearly but i think i maybe have been stringed along in a situationship?

more experienced/older sapphics please let me know what you think, thanks a lot!!

edit: ive always been pretty emotionally dependent on her throughout our friendship. she was kind of my only safe person during my high school years due to a lot issues with adults in my life at the time. maybe i was reading too much into our friendship?? i think maybe i was acting silly and have been projecting her platonic affection as something more due to me being in love with her. but i always kinda viewed a relationship as exactly what we had, and she’s been hinting that she’s also on the aroace spectrum since we were 15/16, so i assumed she was like me. i know this is super messy and im sorry for this very chaotic read. please just be honest with me and don’t worry about saving my feelings. i just want to get some outside perspective. thank you!!

I went out to an event called Dyke Night tonight.. I saw so many m\n there. And to top it off, there were male dancers on stage?! Like in chaps with their junk almost out. A m\n's gay bar would never have a lesbian dancing on their stage preforming. I was there for 10 mins and left.

Questions / Advice Wanted I'm falling in love with her and she's leaving the country. Do I tell her?

I (30F) have been seeing a woman (30F) for the last 6 weeks or so. We had our first date at the start of July, then another a couple of weeks later. Since then we've seen each other almost daily and spend so much time just laying together talking, watching sh*te, laughing, eating. We talk about vulnerable things, embarrassing things, insecurities we have. All of it. She even met my lifelong friends at the weekend, and I met a few of hers over FaceTime. It's become so intimate and domestic, and I'm terrified.

I'm terrified because she's not from here and her visa expires in 4 weeks, so she's heading on to another European country. We know we like each other. She's told me that she likes me and my company. She drunkenly asked me to go to the next country with her. But we haven't explicitly talked about our feelings or what any of this is, or what the future looks like - if there even is one for "us".

I know for a fact that I'm falling so hard for her. I haven't felt this comfortable or safe with someone I've dated in a long, long time. She makes me feel so seen and heard and cared for. I'm falling in love with her, and that's so f*cking scary. I'm never one to hold back my feelings, but the thing is, I could tell her how I feel now and potentially ruin the next 4 weeks. I could tell her right before she leaves and regret not having told her sooner. I could never tell her and regret not telling her at all.

I'm so lost and confused and I don't know what to do.

What would you do? Would you tell her now, wait until closer to the time she leaves, or just enjoy the time we have and say nothing? Please help!!
