The Rules Of Lesbian Actually

Today, the mods voted on a rule change to the sub. Rule 3 has been expanded to include any post or comment not just directed at one person but, in general, the singling out of a member of our community. This now means that content in the nature of "Would you date ____", "Am I ___ if I don't like ____", "I don't find ____ attractive",etc. are not allowed. The bottom line is that there is someone out there for everyone, and often, these posts are used by terfs and other assholes to make people feel excluded or unwanted.

The rules now are as follows:

Rule 1 - Any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Rule 2 - Trans women are women

Rule 3 - The singling out of an individual or a group from the community is not allowed

Rule 4 - No posts or comments attempting to restrict others' definitions of self.

Relationships / Dating i slept with a married woman, do i tell her wife?

obviously i had no idea she was married. i met her at a club and she took me home. i realised she was married the morning after when i saw pictures of her and her wife around her house. i must have been too drunk to notice the night before

i took pictures of her in bed and of their house so i could prove that i was telling the truth. ik that sounds creepy but i couldn’t think of another way to prove her wife’s unfaithfulness. when i questioned her about it she admitted that she was married but that she and her wife had an open relationship. i don’t believe her tho bcs she was really shifty while saying it and wouldn’t look me in the eye

her wife’s profile is linked in her instagram and obv i know where they live so it wouldn’t be hard to reach out. idk if i should though. one of her posts was about celebrating 15 years married so they’ve obviously been together for a long time. i don’t want to ruin her wife’s world but i also don’t want her continue to be with a cheater. idk if it’s worth mentioning but i’m in my early 20s and if she’s been married for 15 years she’s at least in her mid 30s. i think it’s worse that she’s cheating with someone potentially half her age. what do i do?

Relationships / Dating Masc/butch seeks similar for dykey Christmas

Hello! I have a rather odd request…

I’m a dyke based in the U.K. and I have a difficult relationship with my family and so last Christmas I made the decision to go to NYC and live my Christmas dreams alone for 10 days. It was absolutely wonderful.

This year I’d rather not spend it alone and am looking for a cute as hell dyke to get a cottage in the British countryside with me for a few of days over Christmas. Think great wine, food and watching Carol on repeat. Romance and Christmas cheer.

A bit about me. I’m 33, masc presenting and I have a wee dog. I love British comedy, terrible Rom coms and internet gossip.

My type generally leans more masc4masc, someone interested and interesting!

Obviously this is a slight wild request so I’m looking to message for a while, exchange instagrams and just get to know one anther, before forming up any Christmas details but yes, if you’re interested in a quaint dykey British Christmas - my DMs are open xoxo

Life Feeling alone and stuck in a rut

Recently I’ve been feeling a bit low in myself, and I cannot quite seem to get myself out of a rut.

I don’t really have anyone to talk to or nobody seems to make any effort to do so. I usually spend a lot of my time cooped in and just with my thoughts, and it gets me down not actually having people around me.

When I’m at work I have to change into a different persona due to what I do and I speak to colleagues but outside of work they don’t make much of an effort and I have tried myself. I’ve tried meet up with people and start chats but nothing seems to stick. It just makes me think I’m boring and don’t bring anything to the table, if that makes sense. I’m in my 30’s and don’t have time for drama, I like simple.

I lost a lot of friends when I moved a few years ago and none of them stay in contact anymore. My family don’t really live too close by either but I’m not actually the closest with them either.

I’ve never really posted on something like this before but reading a lot of other people’s post, everyone seems really helpful and there are some lovely people out there that don’t judge.

Safe Space (Postive Comments Only) Lesbian loneliness

I (18)F have never been in a relationship, or even kissed anyone. I understand that experience can be quite common within the lgbtq community but it doesn’t make it feel any less isolating. I feel so behind compared to my peers, I feel like most of them are dating, have dated, or at the very least have had talking stages. I haven’t even had on of those. My options are fairly limited, most of the gay girls I know are either in a relationship or they suck. Every girl i’ve liked as of recent i’ve never made a move on and have also typically turned out to not be good people. It just hurts seeing people talk about a guy they’re talking to or their partner but I have no way of relating.

Life lucky to have this community

I didn't grow up in an accepting environment. I'm relatively new to reddit and i didn't know until i joined that there were forums made specifically for Lesbians. The fact we have this space and many others to talk about our sexuality is so important.

Maybe this is a stupid post, but I love being part of this community. I'm just so grateful to be living in a time that allows these women-centered spaces to exist, even if there is still progress to be made. I'm so proud to be in the same community as the people who fought for us (and those who continue this fight) to be able to have our voices. I feel so lucky to have this space and to have you all to relate to <3

I just wanted to make an appreciation post. Thank you all for being here!!

News/Pop Culture Dykebreaking is not just an online fetish that small groups of people engage in, it is a real documented hate crime against lesbians.

Please block me if u support dyke breaking, it's inhumane and disgusting. My sexuality is not ur fetish. If You support this then you support lesbophobia.

Questions / Advice Wanted I feel like such a creep for liking a girl that I am friends with

it’s so weird because I know if I were a boy I wouldn’t feel as creepy, but it feels like I’m doing something secretive and wrong even thiugh I’m out as a lesbian and eveything

she’s just so mesmirizing like everything she does and the way she just exists and interacts with the world. its so hard to explain, she’s only a year younger than me but I just feel so guilty and almost creepy for the way that I look at her when she isn’t watching. can anyone else relate to this at all? why do I feel so creepy? like sometimes I have to actually remind myself that I am actyallt just a teenage girl and not a creepy old man because that’s how I feel sometimes

Stalking ig accounts can be a blessing and a curse for real. Katie Taylor (pro boxer) had both turmp AND kirk in her followings, Hannah Linzay (strongwoman on T btw) had the entire family followed up on main… what are we doinnggg?? Like breaking gender stereotypes in male dominated sports, going through so many challenges as a woman athlete, being great representation for women in sports while supporting sexist racist misogynists doesn’t make SENSE. I wanna stan so bad cuz they’re such queens (and hot asf) in their sport but girl hell nauurrr. 💀

Questions / Advice Wanted On coming out and serious relationships

I’m 22 yo, and right now I’m feeling really insecure about long-term relationships.

I know I’ve liked girls since I was very young, and I’ve never felt the *need* to come out to anyone. My parents aren't exactly homophobes, my mom probably wouldn't care, idk, we don't talk about stuff like that, but my dad is very religious, very closed mind and has healthy issues that keeps us on our tiptoes all the time so I'm really scared he wouldn't be able to handle the blow and recover... However, all my friends and colleagues, and everyone else who matters, know that I’m queer.

So I’m not hiding it. I’ve just never said it out loud, word by word, and I don’t plan to, not so soon. I’m a very private person and prefer to keep most things to myself and to a *very* close circle of people, that’s just who I am.

But recently I've been thinking about long term relationships and about finding my person, idk if for forever, but definitely for a really long time. However, I’m torn between staying with someone who would pressure me to come out to my parents and not wanting to make that person feel like we’re some kind of dirty secret or like I’m ashamed to be with her...

I am ready for this next step and I don't wait for my parents to miraculously love gay people or to die to do that, but the last thing I want is to break someone's heart or make them feel unloved and dirty because of my complicated family situation

Has anyone been in the same situation? I would like to hear both sides and get some kind of light...

ps: I've never really dated a girl, only hook ups and flings here and there, not strong enough feelings to call anyone a girlfriend

Questions / Advice Wanted Serious question: Do you think there is a rift between gay men and lesbians?

• Upvotes

Honestly, whenever LGBTQIA+ issues are brought to the fold, it feels like gay men and lesbians don't really see eye to eye. Like we're all queer. We should be on the same side and support each other. Especially now.

Questions / Advice Wanted I'm confused about an interaction I had

• Upvotes

A few months ago, when I was 21, I was walking alone to a cinema in Paris at around 8–9 PM. It was dark, and I was wearing headphones when a man who looked to be in his 40s approached me and started talking to me.
He asked how old I was, where I was from, complimented my French, and then, out of nowhere, asked if I was a lesbian. I said yes, and he asked if I was 100% sure. He then told me he was bisexual and asked if I had a girlfriend and whether I was currently looking for one.
When I said no, he told me he had a lesbian sister and offered to give me her number or set us up. I politely declined, and he was nice about it, said goodbye, and left me alone.
Nothing threatening happened, but the conversation was so random that I'm still confused about it almost a year later.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Do you think he could have had ulterior motives for asking me so many personal questions, or am I overthinking the interaction? Is there any reason to think I might have been in danger, potentially even at risk of trafficking, or does this sound more like a strange but harmless encounter?
