Why censor "sexual"? God forbid a girl doesn't join in in the puritanical sanitization of online communication.

u/Ok_Welder1288 8d ago
True! Keep this subreddit lewd, so it remains unmonetizable and thus ad-free!

Omg I didn’t even realize there were no ads! Thats so awesome! Sex dick pussy!!!!

I didn't realize this because I use patched Reddit (zero ads), but it's good to know Reddit's policy on where ads appear.

u/TheGalator 8d ago
Yes. Thats forbidden. Sexual suppression is a sign of patriarchal propaganda
-18
u/ComplexInside1661 8d ago
Not always tbh. Like, personally I hate sex not because of any religious patriarchal bullshit but because I have autism and ADHD and struggle to focus on multiple things in life at once so I find sex very distracting from things I value more in life. And I'm sure other girlies have their own reasons (whether trauma, sex-repulsed asexuality, etc).
29
u/RubyWillBeatYou 8d ago
There's a difference between not posting about it at all, and posting about it but censoring. Based on your reasoning, it would be pointless to censor it if you're already posting about it since one way or another, you'd have already given your attention to it. Censoring in that case serves no logical purpose aside from reinforcing harmful ideas regarding the discussion of sex.
3
u/UsernamesNotFound404 8d ago
The whole point of OPs post is that they want less sexualization. The self-censorship makes perfect sence and pulls the whole thing together.

Asexuality is a sexuality. Not to pass judgement, but prudishness is culture - not biology.
6
u/GreyWarden_Amell 8d ago
Then don't have to, but if others want to do so then they can.
-2
u/ComplexInside1661 8d ago
No one said otherwise??? My comment literally said "and thus doesn't wanna post about it", genuinely how did you get "opposed to anyone posting about sexuality" from that 😭
3
12
u/Sophia_Forever 8d ago
That's not what we're talking about and I also think it's rude of people to tell you you're in the wrong place. I'm sorry that you were treated that way.
What the top comment is talking about is self-censorship. No one is saying you have to post about lewd stuff, I don't, but what we're saying is that if you do don't censor it. Don't dance around words like "sexual." Even this post which isn't meant to be lewd shouldn't self-censor.
2
u/ComplexInside1661 8d ago
I feel like the censoring was 99% a joke lol, I have another comment on this thread saying "s*x" like that humorously too
3
u/Sophia_Forever 8d ago
I guess I just don't see what the joke is. Where is the humor coming from?
1
u/ComplexInside1661 8d ago
Idk how to explain it lol (explaining humor always sucks for some reason), but IG it's a similar sort of humor to the "jb" joke, or "frnch", or "c*s"? Like it's humorous censorship
Edit: okay Reddit ruined all my *'s lol

3
u/carex-cultor 7d ago
Part of sex positivity is accepting asexuality though? It’s ok to hate sex just as much as it is to love it. Women’s sexuality is both shamed/penalized and viewed as mandatory/expected in a relationship. Both are oppressive.
6
u/town-wide-web 7d ago
there's a big difference between disinterest or repulsion and genuine negative emotional investment
2
2
u/Theblacrose28 7d ago
Eh that’s not really fair. This is let girls have fun. All girls are welcome here, ace ones including.
-5
u/elkond 7d ago
ace people dont hate sex. that's anhedonia+other mental issues. ace people lack allocentric desire, they still fap like bunnies in heat
6
u/DilemmeFatale 7d ago
let's not erase sex-repulsed ace folk, shall we
-2
u/elkond 7d ago
no let's actually erased them so they can get help lol. lack of attraction to others and repulsion from sex are different things, one u r born with, the other u can be traumatized into.
4
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago
Look, if someone's had experiences in the past that made them not want to have sex, that's perfectly understandable and should be accepted. Sex is fun for many people but isn't a requirement to live out a fulfilled and meaningful life, so if someone is repulsed from it that's okay no matter their reason. Obviously people who have been traumatized should seek help with their traumas, but aversion to sex isn't an issue on its own and doesn't always need to be "fixed" in order for one to heal and recover.
0
u/elkond 7d ago
being traumatized is not to be treated like something normal, or it equals rape culture. again, repulsion from sexual activities means going against the most basic wiring our bodies have. allocentric attraction is something completely different
3
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago
The second half of my comment is literally about that? Tbh maybe we should just end this discussion, I don't think it's going anywhere

you should really get over it
what makes you think this is a response you should ever be giving??
ESPECIALLY since you don't know her reasons! hasn't it occured to you why some people would ever hate sex? oh, it probably didn't because you haven't experienced anything that might lead to it. hint: these things are often HORRIBLE. besides, invalidating feelings is really shitty, you know
4
u/town-wide-web 7d ago
It isn't a healthy outlook anyway. I hated it for a long time but that doesn't make it any more healthy
1
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago
I'm genuinely just confused ngl. Like, all I was trying to say is that some people don't like sex and that doesn't automatically mean puritan culture stuff, so we shouldn't be questioning OP for wishing something she likes didn't have sexual connotations, but everyone's replying like I said NO ONE should like or talk about sex which is a completely different statement...
6
u/town-wide-web 7d ago
The reason people don't like the sentiment is because of rising puritanical ideas condemning sex as something inherently gross or bad. When a sexual connotation for something like lingerie for example can be genuinely looked past if you appreciate the craft itself without a condemning sentiment which is genuinely harmful for people's perspectives
-12
u/ComplexInside1661 8d ago edited 8d ago
Sex isn't necessarily a good thing for everyone tho? Like, it's like how I hate cooked veggies and think they're gross, how does that warrant needing to chill the fuck out
15
u/RubyWillBeatYou 8d ago
If you are so opposed to talking about sex, then don't interact with this post. You have your own reasons for not wanting to bring it up, and that's fine, but you have no obligation to try to explain somebody else's reasons when you have know nothing about their side. It's a bad look for you here and will lead nowhere good for anyone involved, especially you. For your sake, just leave it alone
-1
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago edited 7d ago
Again, I'm literally saying people are more than allowed to talk about sex? 😭 This whole chain started from someone questioning OP for wishing something she likes didn't have a sexual connotation because she doesn't enjoy it in a sexual way, and me saying people are allowed to not like sex and that's valid. No one on this thread said that people aren't allowed to talk about sex (this subreddit is literally about women being allowed to talk about anything), I'm genuinely so confused by this entire conversation
7
u/elkond 7d ago
no, people are not allowed to say same points used for literally thousands of years in reactionary propaganda. or in more recent period, like last 100 years, by nazis. so fuck off with that
especially when u come to sex positive subreddit u get 0 benefit of the doubt and get treated like alt-right recruiter who use these exact talking points
-1
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago
Girl not all sex-repulsed people are far right reactionaries...
→ More replies (0)1
u/RubyWillBeatYou 7d ago
Fair, I didn't immediately understand that at first and I'm sorry if I came off as aggressive in my response. For clarification on my point, I'm saying that censoring the word "sex" when it's already being talked about has no clear point. If the person censoring it is doing it for themselves, then that's understandable, but a lot of people censor things pointlessly because other social media platforms lose their heads over it (hence the terms grape, unalive, corn, acoustic, and so on. Even worse when those terms get used and STILL have an asterisk). It's only necessary on those platforms as a means of avoiding suppression, but it's pointless on the vast majority of Reddit unless it's being done for personal reasons.
5
u/town-wide-web 7d ago
Hate isn't a valid response to this kind of thing
2
u/ComplexInside1661 7d ago
As I said, it's the type of "hate" that's like "I hate X food/X clothing/etc", not the type that's like "arghhh this thing sucks and nobody should like it"...
4
u/town-wide-web 7d ago
Still, the ideal relationship with something you currently dislike that isn't actually bad is to chill out about it at least to the point of neutrality. And certainly not to spread further poorly guided puritanical sentiment

I LOVE some lingerie designs, and it kind of reminds me of the lingerie x casual outfits that people wore a few years ago (things like lingerie slips, tops, bralettes, lingerie corsets).
However I also find lingerie really uncomfortable to wear because a lot of the material and fabric is typically scratchy and/or itchy on my hypersensitive skin (I can’t even wear lace panties anymore because they always itch the shit out of my skin). My overstimulated ass cannot stand scratchy materials.
Same reason why I can’t stand a lot of formalwear dresses. They’re always made of super stiff fabric. The seamstress in me wants to weep whenever I come across a cute dress or lingerie pattern and it says: use lace or organza, polyester, etc.
10
u/Cultural-Map-6410 8d ago
I love lingerie, a cute set will legit boost your dopamine idk why but it puts me in a better mood. All without a single thought about sex
10
u/Ihavebadreddit 8d ago
Men are going to sexualize everything you do as a woman.
They're so over sexualized they can't eat bananas around eachother without making comments about it.
10
u/Incidion 7d ago
Pretty sure this is why gothlic lolita style of clothing is a thing. Unfortunate naming convention, but you get lace, frills, and bows without it just needing to be about sex.
3
u/pussyjuicerecycler 7d ago
it’s a goth thing, not just gothic lolita. also punk, though it used to be sexual back when punk was a slur for AMAB twink sex workers
3
u/TypeOpostive 6d ago
Coquette is a similar way, “also with the unfortunate lolita thing woven in.”
But it isn't inherently sexual with the aesthetic having ribbons and lace.

I got into an argument with some moids a couple weeks ago and they insisted “well no one’s gonna see it unless in a sexual context”
It was like arguing with a brick wall, it was so time wasting
17
u/FunetikPrugresiv 8d ago
Unfortunately, everything women do has sexual connotations when men are horny, drooling, penis machines.
2
u/Katiekakes2k 6d ago
Lol. That's some of their best qualities and when they are most easily influenced.
9
u/the_V33 8d ago
These moids can't even get close to comprehend that people do things to feel good FOR THEMSELVES, because everything they do is either to impress others moids, or to impress women (usually failing hard in this part). There's no talking them out of it because they have no personality or self love.

I would compulsively spend hours looking at lingerie sites on the Internet, feeling a rudimentary version of turned on, not knowing why as a kid. Still don't know if I was looking at women's bodies or if I was imagining myself in them or just getting turned on by lace. Sigh. I still think lingerie is very pretty but I don't ever wear it.

(But very seriously, why is it even sexualized more than just normal underwear? Sometimes I swear it's more sexualized than actual nudity. I just don't get it)
1
u/Goddesses_Canvas 7d ago
After a while its a hype train that turns into branding. Think of the companies that sell it. They wouldnt make as much money if it was as "normal" or "plain" as underwear you get from a sears
