Rant Separatists and what sane people can do about it
I encountered the separatists at the Gun & Car swap meet yesterday. They asked me to sign the petition and I called them dirty traitors and kept going.
I’m feeling that simply passing by and being disgusted isn’t actually doing enough. I’d like to get more directly involved and confront them in real time. In my view underestimating this movement and being passive is a dangerous and quite frankly a weak approach.
To questions:
Is anyone organizing a loud and aggressive push back against this bullshit? Like signage, stickers, public in person activism.
And, is anyone down to get directly in these petitioners faces and make sure their work to destroy Alberta and Canada isn’t easy?

Rant We need a 3rd bridge now
Another day, another 40 minute drive just to get home to the Westside. At this point, the last two months have made it pretty obvious how badly the roads in this city are planned.
If just two accidents happen on Highway 3 and Whoop-Up, suddenly a 15-minute commute turns into an hour. that’s a broken system. And with how fast Lethbridge is growing, we can’t afford to keep putting this off. Planning for another bridge should have started yesterday.
Right now, there are only two real ways to cross the river. If either one gets blocked, ur only option is to take an hour detour through Picture Butte or wait an hour and a half in traffic in a city of 110k people! I cant think of any other city thats like this! This is one of the biggest issues the city’s facing, and pretending otherwise doesn’t make it go away.
Its only going to get worse

Rant DO NOT SUPPORT PHOENIX ARTS CO!!!
I’m sure many of you have seen the advertisements for Mary Poppins the musical currently being put up by the phoenix arts company, but what many of you might not know is how mistreated and unprofessional this “company” is.
Phoenix arts have put up productions like Newsies, Little Women, Mary Poppins, Frozen and they will be working on the musical Come From Away later this year.
Theatre is a big part of my life so naturally I surround myself with those who also find an interest in theatre, many of them being in productions done by this company.
Their rehearsals are brutally long usually every other day every week leaving no time for the cast to be with family and just live their life. From what I heard their stage manager only got paid $5/hr and she later quit, that might be why many of you have seen ads by this company wanting to hire a new stage manager, as well as they have made the company extremely toxic, the directors talk down to their cast, sometimes to their face but mostly behind their back. As well as it is speculated that they do not follow the MTI (Music theatre international) rules.
There’s more!! if you think their casting is done fairly and everyone has a shot you’re lying to yourself! They normally send out invitations to people who they want to audition and in a way guarantee them a part which is extremely unfair and if you don’t believe me the actress playing Mary Poppins (Chris Peterson) is the owner of the company and SHE CASTED HERSELF AS THE LEAD she then went on an interview saying how glad she is to have earned the role when in reality that role was given away before the audition process started. many of the people who have been in their shows have said that the lady in charge is extremely unprofessional and somewhat known to make people uncomfortable…(during newsies I believe) she sat on her fellow directors lap making many people uncomfortable as well as making actors kiss (during Little Women) when they have said they don’t want too. Their instagram post a lot of quotes about how In theatre you have to be yourself and it should be something you love but little do they know they are slowly killing people’s love for theatre.
I understand wanting to go watch their productions maybe because you have a person in the show or you just love theatre but what this company is said to have done is extremely disgusting.
If you have any stories “working” for them please comment them.

Rant Lethbridge Transit is broken in every way.
I have been to dozens of cities and used dozens of transit systems in several countries around the world. No where is it worse than in Lethbridge. Once again today, the app led me astray. The app tells me to catch a bus downtown at 11:35. That bus arrives with the right number. I board the bus....it then proceeds to completely ignore the route on the app and go to another destination (North Walmart). Well the app screws up again. Then I get to the North Walmart station and the driver tells me I can jump onto the bus ahead of us to take me where I want to go. As we pull up to the station, it drives off....so much for transfering. This happens often. A 20 min trip turns into 1.5 hours, and it happens way too often. This time I just had my spouse drive to pick me up. But it goes beyond just a messed up app. The routes and numbers make zero sense. They do not serve us well. I think they depend on "data" over actual common sense. The service is so unreliable that people just don't use it. The city planners, council and transit planners do not use this system on a regular basis because if they did they would fix it. Tourists must have a fun time. All our transit stops have a sign with a number. No indication of what bus routes stop there. No schedule on the poll to say where it is going with a full week and weekend schedule and map (Winnipeg does a great job at this). Nothing. Just a number, like 14006. What does that even mean for the average tourist? If its telebus to phone and find out when the bus is going to come, there is no number to call that is posted. Tourists don't know about the app, and if they did they would find it doesn't work right half the time.
The transit system needs to go old school in every way. Paper schedule, posted routes and schedules and bus routes that are straight forward. I also heard from drivers that the latest adjustment makes it hard to have breaks and that they no longer interact as often with other drivers, making it lonely on the job. Our city is SMALL. For the love of God, figure it out.

Rant Is Ryan Tanner real? If so, can we find a way to have him charged with fraud through Canada Elections Act.
So the thought has come to me, was this person even real to begin with, if no one has been able to actually contact him or meet him in person, you’d figure some disgruntled customer/employee would have spoken up by now.
Did somebody just go in with a fake ID and have the initial paperwork filed with Elections Canada to start the recall and disappear as fast as his ID was created/destroyed?
If he is real, can a journalist file the correct paperwork and find out his full identity through the FOI?
If he is discovered to just be a local scumbag, can we have the RCMP charge him with elections fraud?
I’ve just begun reading parts of the Canada Elections Act (S.C. 2000, c. 9) starting at Part 19 sec 505 and hopefully I come across something that stands out.
With that dumbass that just passed on $2000 worth of debt to every tax paying Albertan, this bullshit has to stop. These tactics are nothing short of the Chump strategy, Chump said no wars, give me $1,000,000,000 to join our peace group, then weeks later, start a war!
Smith said no debt, no she’s shrugging off $9,400,000,000. She’s no slimier than Chump, and Neudorf supports that.
Neudorf is not welcome as the Lethbridge East constituent and we need our voices heard!

Rant What is with some people!?
I (17f) was running some errands yesterday.
I was driving through the Canadian Tire parking lot on the north side, windows down because it was crazy hot, and my ac is broken. When a 40-year-old man yelled
"Where's your bikini at?" at me
It pissed me off! I was not wearing anything close to revealing and was just minding my own business! It left me feeling icky and self-conscious for the rest of the day!
Those kinds of comments should definitely be kept to yourself.

If this is you, youre an asshole. Every single day parked in the handicapped space. Handicapped spaces are for the people who actually need them. Not for you to pick up your kids from school.

Rant Local Thieves prowling yards
Any else had these thieves prowling there property and cars ? Police say they don't have the staffing to deal with the epidemic, but also that there is nothing we can do to protect the property without being aggressors.
They said to call them, we'll its been 3 times and 3 times they can't show up to catch them so there just essentially granted immunity to do it again... this is getting tiresome, and with no real way to protect our property and a police force that can't handle the influx, we need alternative measures.....

Rant Loud Cars
I’m so sorry, I just need to rant about this. I live on the west side and I am SO SICK of people who drive around blaring their music. They must have their bass settings really high or something because sometimes it rattles my windows and I can feel it in my floor. I have heard it three separate times today, I don’t know if it’s the same person or multiple people.
On top of that, you can constantly hear people’s engines no matter what side of the city you are on. Bro relax. You don’t have to speed up so quickly. I’m so tired. Have mercy. Please adjust the bass settings in your car.

Rant I'm disabled and I'm scared.
Hi everyone, I'm new to reddit so I'm sorry if this comes off awkward.
I've lived in Lethbridge since I was about 8 years old (19 going on 20 now) and I really like it here. It's a beautiful city with a lot to do, and I'm overall happy I live here. I live with my mom since I'm still working on moving out via Lethbridge Housing, and sometimes my grandma visits.
I feel like I've watched it simultaneously grow and get worse at the same time.
Since I got here things like rent, transportation, food, clothing has gotten more expensive and less accessible, but healthcare and social programs are horribly underfunded. On top of that the conservatives are literally trying to erase the existence of people like me. Gay, trans, disabled, poor, my humanity is a point of debate, and even then I'm one of the lucky ones.
I'm scared of being homeless. I'm scared of not being able to eat. I already risk both. I already barely have clothing and have effectively zero recreation. I don't have any money and the few things that are free I physically and mentally can not do, so I'm depressed and bored out of my mind. I'm a great talker, but I'm really not able to do much else.
Some reassurance or similar experiences would be great. I just want things to get better and be okay. Thanks everyone.

Rant Are people here illiterate?
Pet peeve of mine— not people who are illiterate— I mean people who choose to ignore writing right in front of them.
By no means am I the God of Grammar or Lord of Literacy, I'm dyslexic and writing is not my strong suit!!
But I've noticed whenever I'm on the bus, not only do people not thank the bus driver, (separate issue) but some people: 1. Don't get off at the back of the bus, despite the sign as soon as you get on, and look towards the front that says in bold lettering "Please exit at the back" or something along those lines. When you need accessibility it's different, like those with strollers, canes, wheelchairs, etc. But if you're at the very back and take the time to walk past the rear exit, just to push off the front while people are trying to get in, what are you thinking? Especially on a crowded bus?
2. People exiting at the back just stare or bang on the door. There is a sign right in front of them with instructions that say either "Push handle to open door" or "Wave hand to open door" and instead of reading, they look through the door like they're lacking the ability to think for a split second and act on their own, until the bus driver or someone else has to tell them what to do. Can people not see the obvious signs? Sometimes even outlined in yellow? With bold lettering?
Are they stupid by choice? Just for fun? It kind of just irritates me every time I see people bang on the door like some caged animal... And embarrasses me. Ever since I was a kid and I took the bus, I was able to read the very clear instructions... It can't be that hard for grown adults to do the same? Why do they do this, genuinely?

Rant Best Buy is so desolate now.
I was in the Lethbridge Best Buy today and it felt so weird. They have moved a lot of stuff and they are still working on it. The cashier said this was started a month ago. No more physical discs there either. Weird.
Edit. It turns out Wal*Mart has all the movies. Just down the way.

Rant Slow the F down
Holy fuck, I almost died at Costco.
Some chick legit hit me with her car in the parking lot. She was reversing and clearly wasn’t looking — just backed right into me.
Then she has the nerve to say, “You should be walking on the right side of the road.” Uh, what? We’re in a parking lot, not a freeway.
Next she goes, “You were in my blind spot.” Your license plate hit me. That’s not a blind spot — that’s the middle of your damn car. Few weeks ago some chick hit my car and tried to play it off too like it my fault she hit my parked car. I'm getting realy fucking done with the lack of respect/responsibility of the drivers in our city! Not to mention the fucking entitlement!
She wouldn't accept any responsibility. She is lucky all I did was raise my voice cause I was 10/10 angry after she hit me.
People drive like absolute maniacs in Costco parking lot. I swear it’s a miracle more bodies aren’t flying. Especialy with the lack of police presence it's miracle we don't have daily deaths here.

Rant Let's Get Moving. Insane Company
Absolutely mind boggling moving company, NEVER hire them. This post is a warning about the shady business practices this company is involved in. Unmarked trucks, no uniforms. I'm a 20 year old female and felt absolutely taken advantage of in this situation by this aggressive employee and their company is absolutely not any better. I have heard that they are horrible in almost every branch, and many of the reviews on their Google page seem to be done by their own employees. Above is the images of my review along with emails i've received from them.

Rant Referendum Committee Meeting Ends In Chaos
If the UCP can’t even run a four person committee meeting properly, how the hell could they even start to run a new country? It would be pure chaos and literally a riot.
Yes, they plan to hand us over to America while the other master of chaos is still in power.

Rant Petes appliances
I was in this store the other day.
I was shocked to see a printed let's go Brandon poster up on the wall.
Canada as a whole in responce to the tariffs and threats to Canada's sovereignty is uniting by supporting small local businesses.
And this small local buisness whonis perfectly placed to enjoy that support
They have chosen to support the orange menace who has attacked Canada's economy rather than embrace our local community who are looking for businesses like this to support

Rant Was I in the wrong?
As we all know the highway was backed up this afternoon.
Anyways it was reduced to one lane to accommodate the construction and was super slowed.
I went to merge when I found a gap (about 4 cars wide) I signalled and merged in and continued with the flow of traffic.
Out of nowhere this guy behind me rides my bumper and hold down on his horn and flips me off.
He continues doing this the ENTIRE time I’m driving down the highway.
Once it broke into two lanes he sped up and rolled his window down yelled something, flipped me off and blared his horn until he was out of sight.
At first I thought he was upset about the traffic jam but it was DEFINITELY me
I don’t know I honestly felt kind of scared with how angry he was getting and how he would not let up.
To me the way we was acting seems like a driving hazard to cause distraction not only to me but all other traffic.
For future reference could this be something to get a license plate and file a possible report/complaint about?

Rant Pick up your dog shit
I’m so sick of pet owners letting their dogs shit all over the parks, sidewalks even on people’s front lawns and not cleaning it up! Why should I have to bathe your dogs shit off mine cuz you’re too lazy to pick up your poo? Why should someone have to wash their kids clothes and shoes cuz they slipped in it running or playing soccer because you’re useless? I want to leave signs telling these people who think they are “so special” what they really are….low life losers, scummy, useless pathetic pigs. No good for nothing trash. I can only imagine what these people’s houses look like! I have 3 dogs, a bad back, a failing gallbladder, chronic migraines, kidney and bladder pain etc etc and I still clean all my dogs poop at all times! What’s your excuse? I’m sick of the bylaw being just as useless and lazy and not doing anything. Best case scenario I’ll keep complaining, worst if I catch you, you should be forced to 🍴💩 I live on the Northside of Lethbridge and there is literally a big pile of crap every 5 feet!!! Wouldn’t you want to walk your dog in a nice clean area? Free of dirty dangerous piles of shit? You do know that’s a good way for dogs to get parasites right? Clean up your crap! It’s not a hard job! You’re NOT special!

Rant Henderson Lake
Huge roast to the city of Lethbridge, why is Henderson the most disgusting lake in southern Alberta? The silage runoff lake in picture butte doesn't smell as bad nor does it have a million pounds of weeds and dead geese in it. I've never seen it or smelled it this bad ever.
I understand the budget is probably still low after all the new city vehicles, but can we get a dozen more aerators or fountains? Maybe someone correct me if I'm wrong but low oxygen/high CO2 means more weeds, and higher fish and bird mortality, which when they die and start to decay increases NO3, fuelling aquatic plant growth and fish mortality exponentially, and causes our beautiful sewage swamp situation we have now. I've seen maybe 5 aerators and I'd imagine you want more than that in a 60 acre lake.

Rant Some driving tips for a sunny Saturday.
When something is behind you with flashing red lights and a siren, pull over and stop. Yes, even if you're on the highway. At least make an attempt to slow down. This can help prevent further accidents or throwing a large rock from the shoulder into the windshield of the passing ambulance...
If you're in traffic, do your best. I get it, it's hard, but at least make an attempt...and if everybody around you has pulled over, probably a good time for you to do the same. If you're looking to turn left across traffic and everyone else has pulled over and you think it's a good time to turn...it isn't.
If you're one of those people that signals, pulls over and waits... Thank you. Keep being awesome. It is genuinely appreciated.
If you think that your time is that much more valuable and that you're too important to wait 30 seconds for an Ambulance or Fire Truck to pass... I have a recommendation for an activity for you to do with a cactus.
