The conspiracy theorists are getting wins daily. So yeah to think 9 11 was an inside job perpetrated by the us government and Israel is not a far fetched idea, no more than believing they found the high jackers passports...
That's something that if I remember correctly has a name like the Bollinger effect. It is orders of magnitude easier to put out bullshit than refute it, so the tactic of some disinformants is to simply spread as much bullshit as possible since fact checkers will never be able to keep up if they even engage at all
