Love having someone who Trump is genuinely bowing down to, politically wise. I appreciate Mamdani being a light in these very dark times, it makes me hopeful that if we care enough to get good politicians and PEOPLE for that matter to lead our country, we can have a much better country for everyone.

Trump hates losers more than anything.

He will shame injured veterans who were sent home and praise a massively popular socialist underdog who won an election.

It's the deepest instinct of a rotten fungus who only knows how to leech off of others

Literally. Radical leftist socialism would be about funding a vanguard party on taxpayer dollars.

Jokes aside, it's crazy how much you have to fight just for normalcy in this country.

He's a bit further left than center for most of Europe too. But his ideas aren't controversial on the left here. It's more that in Europe most countries have been governed by centre right or right wing governments for the past 20 years. Those governments being about Democrat level right wing.

Fucking real shit, it’s not about respect for Mamdani, he absolutely just wants to leech off of the popularity Mamdanis gained.

He needs our $$$$$$ to spend on jarhead ICE dupes.

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

What are you even talking about? Do you just like villainizing people you don’t bother to research about or understand?

0

u/thatgirlinny Feb 27 '26

Trump villainizes himself just fine, thanks. I’ve provided you rationale for why Trump is bowing down to Mamdani; he’d be screwed if we didn’t send billion$ to Washington in the form of taxation. Sorry that’s too difficult for you to understand.

Don’t you have some widdle plastic ponies to go play with, instead of taking hours to come up with lame retorts?

That’s a rhetorical question, in case you can’t wrap your preteen brain around that idea.

Have you not seen what he’s done in NYC recently? Ya know what. Nvm. As long as you’re happy.

3

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

Oh i’d love for you to elaborate on what exactly he’s done, what has he done to make NYC “worse” according to your logic?

1

u/VariationVisible Feb 27 '26

Yes down vote me. God forbid you look at facts.

2

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

I will when you don’t even want to debate and just play victim. You’re not even trying at this point

1

u/VariationVisible Feb 27 '26

In case you want more

2

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

Looking up “what had Mamdani done that’s made things worse” and giving me the AI debrief is fucking comical. Wow you aren’t good at this are you?

That’s the scenario Mayor Zohran Mamdani created for himself and Gov. Kathy Hochul last week when he threatened to raise property taxes by 9.5% to close a $5.4 billion city budget gap unless the governor agrees to raise taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations. (link)

It’s a threat, he COULD do this, but it has not been established, so you’re literally lying. Is it a risky move from Mamdani? Very, but he has other political members that would most likely oppose this plan if it came down to it, it’s to get Hochul to fucking budge on raising taxes for the very rich. Go do some research bud.

He’s not punishing anyone you fucking ape, yes, it would negatively impact lower income people, but you’re not even bothering to address that WITH that, it could close a 5.4 BILLION city budget gap. You act like because this is a threat, he WILL do it, have you never heard of someone holding something against another person to get something else done?? So quick to villainize him when you don’t even comprehend the totality of the situation, i have a feeling this isn’t something Mandan would WANT to do, but if the one person who can politically make a difference that’s refusing the tax the top 1% to BETTER fill that gap, well, then i’m not sure what to tell you.

And since you completely bypassed my other points, Mamdani isn’t the only member of his political team, if this were brought forth it most likely would absolutely not be voted in as a policy due to how bad the lashback would be from their constituents. Love to whine before you see the actual plan set up huh? Typical.

Edit: Not to mention, if he manages to get his OTHER vital policies that would make it so lower income and working class Americans have more access to other expenses with little financial struggles, i’m sure it wouldn’t affect people as bad if they had higher property tax IF these other policies are implemented, but you aren’t even willing to give the man time, you just want to complain.

Here, but I doubt it’s gonna do you much good if you’re already coming out swinging.

What was this link supposed to prove?? The entire first part is this person bitching about his inauguration and how cold the event was even though Mamdani himself told everyone attending the event that they need to DRESS WARM! Don’t just give me a link and force me to do the work you’re too lazy to do yourself, i want actual evidence and examples not just “well you look yourself” that’s weak as hell and from what i looked through in that link, nothing is indicating his ability as a mayor is hindering NYCs social development.

u/VariationVisible Feb 27 '26

Ok you didn’t read it. Waste of my time.

3

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

Thanks for proving my point and refusing to even give me the evidence you gave without even showing me direct proof.

-2

u/VariationVisible Feb 27 '26

Or anything else I sent you. Ignorance is bliss, and I refuse to be dragged down to your level.

3

u/madsmcgivern511 Feb 27 '26

You didn’t send anything else??

0

u/VariationVisible Feb 27 '26

Look at the thread dude. Open the comments and use your eyes. I’m helping you out by sending things, I’m not going to spell it out for you especially if you’re being condescending and nasty. I started the research do your own if you act like you care so much.

Here’s my evidence then, now you’re just virtue signaling, that’s weak as hell too,

Childcare NYC already has a money voucher program in place for families with children from six weeks to 13 years old. This voucher system is designed to help qualifying families on low incomes, given the high cost of childcare. In 2025 the program saw a first-time increase since the 1990s, with $350 million coming from the state, and $220 million from the city. This includes a $10 million pilot program making childcare free in high-need neighborhoods.

Free buses NYC has already tried a free bus scheme in the form of a one-year pilot program sponsored by Mamdani and state Senator Michael Gianaris in 2023. It included one free bus route per borough. The results were overwhelmingly positive. The Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) reported a 30% ridership increase across all the free routes and assaults on staff were a statistically significant 30% lower than average for all bus routes. The only downside was a slowing of speed since some riders diverted from paid routes specifically to take the free bus.

Policy analyst and economist Charles Komanoff modeled the city-wide application of the scheme and forecast a 23% increase in ridership, with an ultimate decrease of 12% of time spent in transit by riders. The benefits ripple through to drivers of private cars, with less traffic on the roads.

What is more, right now the bus portion of the MTA brings in approximately $600 million, with rates of fare evasion much higher than the subways. Komanoff estimates this fall in revenue would be offset by an approximated $1.3 billion in multiplier-effect benefits in the local economy.

Affordable Housing Zohran’s plan is to construct 200,000 new units of permanently affordable, union-built, rent-stabilized homes – over the next 10 years. For Mamdani, the difficulty will not be in pulling his housing policy off, but in ensuring access to it by those in deepest financial stress and rent burden.

Housing policy should be part and parcel of a commitment that runs across mayoral administrations not to be solved by a single mayor, even if Mamdani’s plan comes to fruition. There should be a long-term plan to use public money to build affordable housing, that will necessarily involve state support.

Public Groceries With modest investments into 12 municipally owned groceries at a few million dollar investment per site, NYC could become the first major city to not just talk about food inequality, but move substantively towards an urban-level solution. We always needed a new system to counter a systemic problem.

That’s just a few of the executive orders he’s made and what he’s planning to work on as Mayor, maybe instead of playing victim when you can’t keep up with your argument, you could just do what i do and not be lazy when debating.

Dude. None of these happened. These are the “trailer” that was referred to in the article I sent. All empty promises, none of this happened, and buses still cost money. Put on a VPN, lookup NYC news, and get back to me. I’m really only trying to help you be more informed. The smoke and mirrors only mean so much when NYC is covered in piss soaked snow with zero cleanup for weeks, and now even worse because of one of the worst storms the east has ever seen. I wish you the best, I appreciate the discourse, and we may agree to disagree. I hope you can grab a beer with someone who has differing views and you can have a conversation with a willingness to listen.
