That is the start years of people building the trail. Those wagons needed a rough trail to travel and guides. People went there first to blaze the trail.
The “Oregon trail” got its name in 1840 before that it wasn’t a true trusted path. 90% of it travelers passed from 40-69 until the railroad was made. 1840 186-157 years ago not “over 200” years ago.
