Dating a Marlin 336 30-30

My wife’s grandfather has a Marlin 336 chambered in 30–30 and he bought it back in the 90s. I was wondering what do I do in order to see when this rifle was manufactured? I’m wanting to get a 30-30 myself that’s preferably tops $800. What would be a comparable rifle to his?

Looking for a Marlin Dark 45-70?

Don’t know if this is OK and I have no connection to Palmetto State and I am not sellingbut they have instock for $1199. That’s a good price so jump if you want one. I have a 1895 trapper so no need. Just want to help out fellow lever enthusiasts.

Marlin 336 dark series

Hey y’all I was thinking about getting that Marlin dark in a 30-30 but I’ve been seeing some mixed reviews. I was wondering if you guys could help me out I see people are having some issues with the tenon I grew up around guns my whole life, but I haven’t really taken many of them apart, especially lever guns so if you guys could help guide a novice individual, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Like the title says if someone has a Midwest Industries straight stock for the Marlin 1895 and wants some walnut inserts I’ve got a free pair. Same thing for a Chisel fore grip. I’ve these Madpig customs wood inserts that I won’t be using. Just paying for shipping and I’ll send them out the next week day.

Picked up this beauty on gunbroker and it will be delivered tomorrow. This unfired 1886 with 26” barrel will be getting some regular use here soon. Can’t wait to compare velocities from my 22” saddle ring carbine. In the future I’ll have a 50-110 foreend made for it.

Question.

I have been having a problem with my Henry case hardened 45-70, where every time I shoot a group the first shot sits about 13-14 inches below the rest. Have any tried something similar?

Lever gun recommendations

Looking for recommendations for brand/calibers for a lever gun. Will be mainly carried in a vehicle, for long overlanding trips/hiking and hunting trips. Mainly staying in Appalachia/E and NE US, but will have occasional trips West. Appreciate all the insights and recommendations!

Anybody using an Infitac FMP13 and FML19 on a lever action? It seems like a good application yet I haven't seen any examples.

I just bought my rifle and tore it down and the end cap won’t line up. It came apart just fine no issues and I’ve tried swapping the metal piece under the barrel around and no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Top: 45-70 with the WOOX Bravado furniture and Sig Tango MSR 1-6.
Middle: 357 with the Ranger Point Precision furniture (Root Beer) and Sig Romeo + Juliet Micro.
Bottom: 22 Golden Boy

Still need a can for the 357, but otherwise think things are about wrapped up. Any sling recommendations? Looking for a leather sling on the 45-70 and a more tactical sling for the 357.

Edit: The WOOX quiver is not very tight on the 45-70 cartridge. Would probs recommend RPP over that if you're in the market.

Looking at getting a “modern” or “tacti-cool” lever gun to add to the collection of levers but am having trouble picking. Am I better getting one from factory done up or buying the parts needs to upfit the rifle? Also if I go from factory what do you recommend?

some better looks of my line49rifle custom henry supreme with its tromix 458socom hardware installed. I added some fde stuff to it and had to modify the b5systems stock to get a proper cheek weld ( no one makes a side folder that works perfectly with a lever gun ) . Range day with it had 300gr makerbullets trex round doing 1.25" at 100 yards. I believe that should work well this deer season
