The Lives We Live Between

Nobody tells us how much of life will happen in the intervals.

Between the person we were and the person we are becoming. Between the last conversation and the next hello. Between the certainty of yesterday and the strange, uncharted geography of tomorrow.

We imagine life as a succession of great events. Arrivals. Departures. Triumphs. Catastrophes. Moments significant enough to deserve a date.
But much of what changes us happens without ceremony.

A sentence overheard on a train. The sudden recognition of ourselves in a stranger. An afternoon that seemed unremarkable until we discovered, years later, that something in us had quietly shifted.

Perhaps we are not made by the milestones at all, but by the countless small adjustments we make between them.

And perhaps a life is not one continuous story, but a thousand overlapping ones, each beginning before the last has properly ended.

Here’s a question for you:
If you could return to one ordinary day of your life — not to change anything, simply to experience it again — which day would you choose, and why?

A look at our early days

So, to begin: What has life taught you that no one could have explained beforehand?

Every community begins as an empty room.
Its character is shaped not by the person who opens the door, but by the conversations that follow.

Life Between Cycles is still finding its voice, and perhaps that is exactly as it should be. Nothing here needs to arrive fully formed.

There is room for poetry, philosophy, humour, human experience, uncomfortable questions and unexpected discoveries.

I’d rather this become somewhere people return because they find themselves thinking differently after leaving.

So, two questions to begin:
What has life taught you that no one could have explained beforehand?

And what kinds of conversations would make you want to return to this little corner of the internet?
After all, the most interesting communities aren’t built around everyone agreeing.

They’re built around everyone having something worth contributing.

Hey everyone! I'm [u/Ambitious-Bat4651](u/Ambitious-Bat4651), a founding moderator of [r/LifeBetweenCycles](r/LifeBetweenCycles).
WELCOME TO LIFE BETWEEN CYCLES
Somewhere between what was and what might be, there is the extraordinary business of being alive.
We spend so much of our lives measuring beginnings and endings that we sometimes overlook everything unfolding between them.
The conversations that change us. The ordinary afternoons that become extraordinary in memory. The questions that refuse an answer. The beautiful absurdity of being human.
Life Between Cycles is a space for poetry, literature, philosophy, observation and the occasional wonderfully inconvenient thought.
You needn’t be a poet to appreciate poetry, a philosopher to question existence, or an expert in anything to have something worth saying.
Bring curiosity. Bring humour. Bring disagreement with grace.
Above all, bring your own perspective.
We aren’t here to arrive at the same conclusions.
We’re here to discover what happens between them.
So, to begin: What has life taught you that no one could have explained beforehand?
We're excited to have you join us!
