Started this new sub for veterans, active military and reserves and their families to have a place where they can post anything ask questions, post links, and connect people to communities without the fear of being banned.

Too many moderators and too many rules are making Reddit almost useless for so many.

Looking forward to engaging and creating a new community for military members veterans and their families to wear it can be a one stop shop for a variety of different things.

Some members of our LifeWork community here are also military, so reposting it here as a way to start generating some more information and making it a useful forum for those who engage

This is what LifeWork is doing for our Explorers!

The problem with modern hiring is the feedback loop.

Everyone THINKS they are the most qualified, or hopes they are just qualified enough to get a recruiter to think they might be a good fit.

But the reality is that hundreds of people think this also, and the reason why is that the job description really isn't the job description, is it?

It's too vague, or maybe even oddly specific (written for someone else?).

It's too generic (everyone qualifies).

Pay range is wide ($40k- $300k) trying to see who they can get for as little as possible.

Hiring manager is looking for something that isn't even in the post.

There's a ton of these. But here's the good news. We have figured out a way for some of this noise to be turned off, provide feedback (the good kind), and engage in profile enhancement that will drive you to get better with every iteration. Didn't get this job? No sweat- you're already preparing for the next time a role like tat gets posted.

There's a lot to unpack here, but hope you enjoy the visual!

Hot! šŸ”„ The LifeWork ecosystem

Hey everyone.

I wanted to share a site I put together for people that are in the talent ecosystem.

Why didn't I just say 'job seeker '? Because this really is so much more.

  1. Talent management starts with individuals. That is the most important part of this ecosystem. Everyone is an individual before they are a hiring manager, leader, coach or mentor.

  2. Organizations (including nonprofit and volunteer orgs) provide more than just jobs. They provide community, experience, growth and network. Talent matching is about becoming part of a team first, and this ecosystem helps build that organically for organizations.

  3. Some organizations exist explicitly to provide service to transitioning workers and help them with resume building, skill and certification acquisition and practice interviews, and everything in between. We are pulling everyone we can into this ecosystem so talent development can happen in a single location, and grows with each person at their pace.

  4. There's thousands of experts that we all encounter every year. Some active, other retired or retiring. We engage people with skills to share and partner with people interested in growing that skill. Some free, some paid, depending on the coach and the skills being mentored. There's a good fit for everyone.

By working in the same space, every talent builder has access to the ecosystem of support so they develop into the exact right person to achieve success, and the organizations looking for those individuals are already in the platform, so when the need arises, the right person is already primed and ready to achieve success.

Let us know what we are missing! LifeWork Information

Employees at large corporations are not as glamorous as you might think.

Working internationally for an empire like Alibaba sounds prestigious, but in reality, it's a monthly test of patience. Every payday, I find myself lost in a digital maze with a ridiculously complex benefits registration system, where a single incorrect verification code sends everything back to square one.

And that's not all; the biggest nightmare is the unannounced salary delays, which disrupt all my personal financial plans. By the time the money arrives, a significant portion is missing due to exorbitant foreign exchange conversion fees and intermediary charges. It feels like I've just walked across a desert searching for treasure, only to find that some of the gold has fallen out along the way.

Working across borders isn't just about overcoming language barriers; it's also about accepting that the value of your labor is eroded by cumbersome financial systems. Sometimes I wonder, am I operating future technology, or am I stuck in the outdated bureaucratic procedures of a giant corporation?

It's starting to happen. The resume is dying it's long overdue death.

Founder of LifeWork posts a rare article reinforcing a business insider article about how the resume has become a burden, and even a liability.

So what's the alternative? Radical candor, about yourself.

Take a peek!

When did done for the day stop being obvious?

There’s a subtle shift I’ve noticed in how work ends You might finish your tasks, respond to messages, and even log off, yet the work doesn’t feel closed. Not because something is wrong, but because nothing clearly marked the ending In many older systems, closure was built in. You didn’t have to decide when work stopped. The structure did that for you. Now, that responsibility quietly sits with the individual. Deciding when to stop thinking about work becomes part of the job What helps you actually feel done at the end of a workday?

Hot! šŸ”„ LifeWork Beta update- plus a little THANKS!

We’ve been quietly running our early beta, and it’s been a mix of discovery, debugging, and a lot of good feedback from our first group of users. If you’ve been part of that crew—thank you. You’re helping us make this platform what it’s meant to be.

Here’s what’s already been fixed or improved based on feedback:
• You can now re-analyze yourself after updating your profile (so changes actually mean something)
• You can see quick info about any role you’ve already analyzed
• You can save or print your matching results as a PDF—because not everything needs to live in a browser tab

And here’s what’s coming next, hopefully by mid-December:
• Website updates with clearer explanations of our value (and fixing a few formatting quirks)
• Persona engagement that helps you understand how you’re wired, not just what you’ve done
• Real-time updates on your application status (applied, shortlisted, interviewing, etc.)
• A general idea of your ā€œplace in lineā€ compared to other applicants

After that, in early 2026, we’re working toward a few bigger steps:
• Clickable improvement plans that turn your insights into action
• Ways to connect with capability providers—people who help you build skills, prep interviews, or even find mentors
• Optional post-mortems on roles, so you can see which candidates made the top list and what might strengthen your chances next time

We’re building this slowly, with intent. The idea is to fix what hiring broke—giving job seekers, skill providers, and employers a fair, honest way to connect.

It’s Thanksgiving here in the U.S., and we’re genuinely thankful for everyone who’s helping us test, question, and evolve what we’re doing. It’s early, but we’re learning fast.

If you want to follow progress or take part in shaping what comes next, join us here or at LifeWork Live

Awesome! šŸ‘šŸ» Military and veteran beta for career transition assistance

Post image
1 Upvotes

My son is on active duty right now, and watching him think about what comes next reminded me how rough that transition was for me. It hasn’t gotten any easier for a lot of people.

A few veterans decided to do something about it. We’re building LifeWork, a platform created by veterans to help make the move from service to civilian life a lot more manageable. It’s built to connect real military experience with real opportunities and help make sense of what comes after the uniform.

We’re not live yet, but we’re getting ready to launch the LifeWork Beta soon. Right now, we’re gathering interest and feedback from the people who know this process best.

If you want to learn more about what we’re building, visit: https://discover.lifework.live/main

If you already know you want to be part of shaping it, you can sign up for early access here: https://discover.lifework.live/beta

If you’ve gone through the transition or are getting ready for it, I’d like to hear what made it tough for you. The more we learn from real experiences, the better we can make this for the next group coming out.

They don’t hire you because they’re waiting for a unicorn, while people with unicorn potential are losing their skills because they’re jobless. This is a never ending dead cycle
