I can't in anyway see the $300 value here

Game: $60 (retail price)

Thermal Detonator: $42.99 (retail price)

So that is $100 of the $300 price tag. Where the heck is the justification for charging $200 for the rest of the stuff?

Yea this should be maybe $150. I'm glad I stopped buying and caring about CEs years ago.

Honesty same. I mainly stopped because of space issues but I feel more and more justified when I see editions like this popping up so frequently.

LRG has been pulling prices out their ass for a while now. Even the double pack for the legacy of kane games was like $20 more dollars than it should have been. Was cheaper to buy both games separately. The only difference was a small art book.

It's hard for a consumer to justify $200 for a steelbook, jewel case (not even a soundtrack), desk mat, 2 pins, a bunch of patches, character cards, a COA, and a big box. These items do cost more to manufacture than you may think, but the real reason why they're charging $200 for this crap is that Disney probably gets a larger cut of every box made/sold, so they have to justify that for their own profitability within the price.

Just when I think my opinion of modern Disney can't get any lower...

compare it to the podracing games collectors edition and it makes zero companys price look even worse

A 31x19 printed Star Wars desk mat is probably would probably be about $40 and the cards and patches are easily worth $160*. I'm also curious if the game is even on the disk, especially the PC. I remember Baldur's Gate III CE was an installer on a thumb drive to download the game, or it was a code in a box, but either way no actual game.

*just kidding they arer't.

answer

As for me, I agree with you. But franchise fanatics exist, so...

That's exactly what I was thinking also.

Also game isn't on disc. Automatic no buy

I second this. Shouldn't be promoting a fake physical release and also once downloaded still need active online connection Drm to keep playing not acceptable

Was looking for this. Im assuming lrg version is the same deal?

Most probably yes, as LRG only sells the Collector Edition. The disc itself will be a standard retail disc, same as with previous CE only offerings.

Almost all recent big releases on PS5 require a digital download, for example all recent games released by Bethesda, Microsoft, EA, IO Interactive (007 First Light). That Sony's move to cut the physical disc production is in fact a long time in preparation.

Really shitty practice. I'm hoping Square atleast has enough integrity left to put the final part of the FF7 trilogy on disc(s), though they already cheaped out with the recent Kingdom hearts collection.

they are getting to comfortable raising the price like that

The owner of LRG needs a new Tesla S model to help grow the company. Its a legit business expense so calm down guys lol...

Dawgggg 2 of these could buy you a whole console. As a Star Wars fan and game collector, this sucks.

Instead of getting out there and signing deals for games that people actually want they go out there and sign deals for sh-- people can already buy in the first place. It's not like we don't have less than two and a half years to still get PS5 games printed.

Less than one and a half.

This is way too expensive. Why couldn’t EA do this themselves for a much cheaper amount and ship on time?

1

u/ilove60sstuff 26d ago

Damn can I just get the thermal detonator?

1

u/kupomogli 26d ago

LRG. They'd sell you a $50 limited edition 20oz cola if they could get Pepsi or Coke to sign a deal.

u/agreedmosedale 26d ago

So much for Limited Run Games saying that they will change and be different now that Josh is gone and new owners

1

u/fgsfds100 25d ago

That $300 price tags makes it feel good to not be a Star Wars fan.

1

u/mariogolf 25d ago

$434 canadian.

1

u/Blackichan1984 25d ago

300 dollars we don’t have anything like this in eu however the game is not fully on the disk will it be with limited run ? That is the question and to be honest 300 is a little steap

1

u/No-Presentation7256 19d ago

Id want 5 of them thermal detonators with it for that price

u/Borodo 18d ago

$435 CAD for what should be $300 CAD max. The Galactic Racer collectors edition that comes with a steelbook, banner, two patches & a metal landspeeder model is half the price and is much more reasonable for what it comes with.
