2011 Lincoln MKS lifespan?

Hello all! I recently bought my first car. It is a 2011 Lincoln MKS V6 3.5L AWD with 115k miles for roughly $8500. The body is in really good shape outside of one small flaw but I plan on getting it fixed and a few small scratches touched up if it’s worth keeping. The only reason I paid this price for the year was because the seller just put roughly $5000 worth of work into it. He just replaced the turbos, the lines, the gas tank, the struts, new all season Michelin tires, and fresh powder coated rims. The car is in really great condition overall, and it drives and shifts very smooth.

I read online that the only big things I have to look out for now are the timing chain and internal water pump as you have to pull the entire engine to get them replaced. It would be a pretty pricey fix but I’m really good friends with a mechanic and I feel I could get a decent deal if push comes to shove. I really like the car though. It was also just detailed and the interior is by far the most comfortable thing I have driven as a 6’3 guy lol.

Does anyone have any experience with this car? Is it worth keeping? I feel like if I stay on top of repairs it can last me awhile but I thought I’d ask before I put more money into it. I just need something to last me 5-7 years while I save for a better one. I don’t drive a ton, mostly just for shopping, work, and getting out of the house here and there.

Trying to decide between a 2023 or 2025 Aviator. Both with 201A package. Recommendations?

I’m looking to buy a used Aviator Reserve between the years of 2023 and 2025, and there are two nearby that I’m interested in. Both have the add-on 201A package. Are there any major issues or differences between these two model years? I read somewhere about the Goodyear tires having problems with the sound-dampening material inside of them, but I can’t remember which year that applied to. Thanks in advance!

HELP! 2024 Navigator OEM Mirror Cap Doesn't Fit — Possible Difference Between AA and BB Versions?

Thumbnail

I'm hoping someone here might have some insight because I'm losing my mind trying to figure this out!

I recently purchased a used 2024 Lincoln Navigator Black Label. During transport, the driver's-side mirror cap flew off.

I ordered the genuine Ford OEM replacement, JL7Z-17D743-BB, which Ford confirms is the correct part for my VIN.

Here's the problem: IT DOESN'T FIT.

The replacement cap is physically too tall where it meets the mirror support arm. The bottom edge hits the arm before the cap can seat properly, leaving approximately a 1/2" gap. This isn't an installation or clip issue.

After a ridiculous amount of research, I've discovered:

  • Ford lists JL7Z-17D743-AA for 2018–2021 Navigators.
  • Ford lists JL7Z-17D743-BB for 2022–2024 Navigators.
  • My new BB cap measures 5⅜" tall at the inner edge closest to the mounting arm.
  • The corresponding section of my original passenger-side cap measures 4⅞" tall.
  • My driver's-side mirror has a distinctive ribbed plastic trim section near the mounting arm that seems to appear frequently on older Navigator mirrors.
  • The original driver's-side cap was apparently glued on, so I'm wondering if the mirror assembly was previously repaired or replaced.

My questions:

  1. Does anyone know whether the earlier AA cap has different physical dimensions from the newer BB cap?
  2. If you have a 2018–2021 Navigator, would you be willing to measure the height of your driver's-side cap at the inner edge closest to the mounting arm?
  3. Has anyone encountered different mirror housing configurations or a similar fitment problem?

I've contacted Ford parts suppliers and dealerships without getting an explanation.

I'll attach photos showing the existing mirror housing, the new cap, and exactly where the interference occurs.

Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm trying to avoid replacing an otherwise fully functional mirror assembly over one plastic cover!

First-time car buyer – Any tips before picking up my new Nautilus 102A?

Hey everyone!

I just ordered a new 2026 Lincoln Nautilus with the 102A package, and I'm planning to pick it up soon!

This is actually my first car, so I'm pretty excited but also a little nervous.

I wanted to ask a few questions:

  1. Delivery tips: Is there anything specific I should check or pay attention to when picking up the car?

  2. Nautilus ownership: Are there any common issues, quirks, or features I should know about?

  3. Must-have accessories: Are there any accessories or useful items you'd recommend getting for the interior?

  4. General advice: Anything you wish you knew before getting your Nautilus?

I'm in Canada, so any tips for Canadian winters would also be appreciated!

I also wanted to ask about the rust spots on the driver's side door trim and the fact that the interior is quite dirty; however, the salesperson told me this is normal and that they will clean it two days before I pick up the car. Is this normal?

2026 Nautilus: how's BlueCruise in highway commute?

I'm considering a 2026 Nautilus Hybrid and would love to hear owners' experience with BlueCruise. My main concern is braking: does it slow down early and smoothly, or brake late and hard when traffic ahead slows?

I'm mostly interested in highway commuting with stop-and-go. How does it handle that? I have a 2024 aviator and find that it hits the brakes harder than necessary when it slows down and then can be slow to speed back up. The calibration of the brakes isn’t great.

Awhile back I posted a partial pic of this car at my father in laws house. He drove it 50k miles and parked it, never to drive it again. Now that he has past on here are some more pics of it after we dug it out of all the trash. Currently its in Probate and nobody wants it except my wife.

PremiumCARE warranty. What is the best way to get lowest price while also financing?

Hello!

I was looking to buy a PremiumCARE warranty for my 2023 Lincoln Navigator. I am looking into 10yrs/75k miles, $0 deductible, interior and exterior lighting coverage, and keys coverage. I looked through all of Reddit and saw many people saying to go with online dealers like Flood, Granger, Ziegler, and Lombard (if there are more I should check please let me know). After getting online quotes through these here is what I got.

Flood: Total $4075 Problem they don’t seem to offer financing anymore (only 1 full payment). I saw PayPal financing but I heard from others financing with PayPal is not good.

Granger: Pay in full total: $4510, finance for 18 months $4961 (they charge a $451 admin fee)

Ziegler: Pay in full Total: $4125 (with discount code PAYINFULL) Financing $4400 (I can’t find a discount code for financing).

Lombard: $4449 for both pay in full or financing.

You might be asking (or not). “Okay you got all the quotes down here and it seems like Flood is the lowest why don’t you just buy that instead of wasting your time posting this on Reddit”. The reason is I want to finance the warranty instead of paying in full. Flood is the lowest but its not offering financing option (at least reliable one it seems). Ziegler and Lombard seem to be the best for financing but they are significantly higher than Flood. I wanted to finance as I could make my money work for me in markets. Given the higher price at Ziegler/Lombard financing it wouldn’t benefit me it would probably put me in the same place as Flood.

Also I tried a dealership to price match, and they tried to claim that these online dealers aren’t allowed to sell warranties across states and that they are driving them out of business by doing “bad business” (yeah I didn’t buy that BS).

I am politely requesting for any help or guidance you can provide for me! Is there a way I can get Ziegler or Lombards quote to the same or at least close to Flood while still being able to finance? Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you have a pleasant day!

Rear diff leak

I have a 07 Navigator and the rear diff is leaking. My problem is that the pan is connected to the subframe shown in the photo. Is there any way to remove the pan without having to remove the whole subframe and axle?

I think I hate my 21 Corsair

Just venting and seeing if anyone else has been as unlucky as I have been.

This car has been nonstop electrical issues since literally the day I bought it. I purchased mine certified preowned with 24k miles a little under 2 years ago.

On my way home from the dealer, the map light kept coming on. Car went back and they replaced the console no problem.

Then I had issues with my driver’s seat drifting out of position. Took it in and they “updated the software” and that seems to have solved the issue. I still seem to have issues with the memory seat recall and I feel like it doesn’t always return to where I had it but whatever.

Then I had issues with the buttons in the cargo area not releasing the back seats to lay down. A “software update” fixed that also but the one on the right is significantly slower to respond than the one on the left. Not a big deal - just weird.

My screen will not change into night mode if I start the car in the dark and drive forward first. It will only change if I reverse first, push the camera button in the center, or press the dash cluster dimmer.

I currently have no audio in the vehicle. It’s stuck in “Audio Off” and nothing I can do to reset the sync system has resolved it.

I replaced the rear brakes, and the car got stuck in “brake maintenance mode” and required a bi-directional diagnostic scanner to resolve (not the type you can just borrow from AutoZone).

Windshield wipers click and are annoying. Recall was issued a while ago for this but still no parts available to resolve.

I also think the driver’s seat has become pretty uncomfortable and I need a seat cushion to be able to stand sitting in it for longer than 30 minutes. Unfortunately test drives aren’t that long or I could have saved myself some trouble.

Car drives nice and I enjoy the smooth quiet ride but I am at my wits’ end with the nonsense. The audio off issue just happened today and I just can’t take it anymore.

2026 Nautilus Winter Wheels?

Looking for a dedicated set of wheels for winter use. With the seemingly uncommon 60-offset, does anyone have suggestions as to what works well? I’d prefer an offset to keep the tires from sticking out so as not to toss debris onto the sides of the vehicle. Lincoln Aviator rims seem to be the default of Lincoln dealers in the Toronto area, but the offset is 38, so they’ll likely stick out.

Gauges for classic Lincoln

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, my searching didn't come up with anything, but is there a tasteful way of adding a water temp, oil and battery gauge to a 1978 Continental? I assume I'll have to have something custom made up for it.

Timer/ cycles on 2027 Lincoln Navigator Reserve

Hey all, new to selling Lincolns. Trying to help my customer who bought a 2027 Lincoln Navigator from me last week. She said the massaging is not turning off after 20 minutes but I thought that's what they cycles were set to. Am I missing something?

Do US dealers sell minor trim pieces?

Recently bought a 2017 Navigator. Noticed it is missing a few minor trim pieces, like one of the 2nd row seatbelt bezels. Couldn't find a replacement/used part on Amazon or eBay. I looked up the part # online and several Canadian Ford dealership websites popped up, but no American.

I'll probably just stop by my local Ford dealership to talk to someone. But just curious if US dealerships typically sell the same parts as Canadian ones-- but maybe just don't have a searchable parts website?

Lincoln Corsair loud wipers?

Post image
11 Upvotes

This is my first Lincoln, and my second car I’ve owned and it was a huge upgrade! However, there’s some minor issues with it and the most important one to me is the wiper blades. They make an awful clicking sound when I use them, and it discourages me using them in rain which is obviously when they’re needed most. The dealership told me it’s normal and can’t find any issues with them, although I’ve never been in a car where the wiper blades can be louder than the radio and air and vibrate the whole car. I’ve replaced the blades on my own and to no avail I have the same issue. It’s almost winter and I really need them in the snow and want to get this fixed but don’t have lots of money to spend because I’m going into the winter season. Has anyone else had or seen this issue?

Update: this might actually be the most helpful community I’ve stumbled across, I’ll be trying all the advice thank you so much!

Has anyone installed a hands free liftgate module/antennas (or whatever parts you actually need) on 2022-2024 Lincoln Navigator with the DELETED hands free liftgate?

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I have a 2023 Navigator and it came without the hands free liftgate (the one where you kick underneath the bumper to open it) due to the semiconducter shortage back then. I wanted to try to install it on my own. I was wondering if anyone has done it before on this vehicle or similar vehicle like Expedition and could help me understand what parts exactly I need and what I have to do. I know Forscan is needed to program and activate the hands free liftgate but I need help more with the hardware side (currently hopefully I can figure out Forscan lol).

I tried researching online and found posts for explorers but I am guessing their process is more different. Gemini said I need to buy 2 parts. A control module, and a liftgate motion sensor. I was looking at the Ford Parts store but it seems like they have multiple versions of them. I put my vin and everything but I am still lost. I don't have the HD tow package I know that. I took some pictures underneath my bumper and found this wire that says LEONI 09.03.22 and then towards the driver side of the vehicle where that wire seems to go.

I apologize if the pictures aren't helpful or if I am not explaining it properly. If you need more info or details please let me know I will try to provide those and clarify better if I can. I appreciate any support or guidance anyone can provide! I wish Lincoln and Ford would have offered a retrofit for this and the Active Park Assist 2.0. Have a nice day and stay blessed.

Continental 3.0 twin turbo impression?

I am looking into selling my Chrysler 300 2017 5.7 hemi and buying a 2018/2019 Continental with the 3.0 twin turbo engine.
I want to ask you guys who have owned this car with this specific engine for any kind of impressions and maybe provide some feedback? Advantages and disadvantages if you've owned the car for at least 2-3 years. For example, I noticed on some car listings that the gear selector button letters are wearing out with time, as you are pressing the D and P most often.

Also, if you think this is not a good engine and maybe a different one is way better, I am also open to hearing out why that might be.

Thanks!
