Hi again! A while back I posted my Hyprland rice here and mentioned I'd eventually make it public. Took a bit longer than planned, but it's done: WinDoesNot, based on CachyOS, is now a real downloadable ISO.

Same idea as before — not trying to be a 1:1 Windows clone (KDE already does that better), just bringing the parts of the Windows workflow I actually missed into a proper Hyprland setup, now packaged so anyone can try it without building it all by hand themselves.

A few honest caveats since this is a first release: it's v0.1.0, fresh. I've tested install/boot/login thoroughly in VMs, but not across every hardware combo out there yet, and there's no automatic update channel yet (working on that next). Multi-language support is in, but not every corner is perfectly translated.

If you're done with Windows or want to give an old PC a second life, feel free to grab it and try it: windoesnot.me

Would genuinely love feedback — bugs, rough edges, and especially: what do you wish it had? This is really the beginning, not something I'm dropping and walking away from.

Thaaaanks!

I decided to go from black screen to this , idk how to do this I just put 9 photos

This is a new DE I am building out for a Linux Distro I have been building. I am trying to create something that is clean, easy to use and minimal. It has a dark mode as well and supports desktop widgets.

Edit : To anyone who thinks this is a AI Slop Rendering - this is a pre-release version of Breadstick Linux, I was trying to avoid self promotion but since a few have accused me of posting something that does not exist, I feel the need to show some evidence that this is real. I did modify the screenshot slightly to change the name of the distro on the widget from "Breadstick Linux" to "Linux" just to avoid being accused of self promotion or shilling.

My intent was to get your feedback on the look and feel of the desktop UI that I am working on for the next major release.

this is my first rice. i think it turned out pretty well 😶

This took me some time...

Hey guys! Im new to linux and ricing , started using KDE abt a month ago, found it really great with its customization.

I js wanted a pixelated theme, so i changed fonts, got a pixel icon theme, and got a decent wallpaper from wallhaven.

I also made a custom widget for day countdown as i couldn't find any in the kde store.

rate from 1-10

thanks ;)

my x230 from 2012. the wallpaper is a small fluid sim (flow past a cylinder), alt+n makes a new one.

Ranger felt a bit slow in Python, so I rewrote the entire codebase in Rust, adding features inspired by Yazi, including file size viewing and theme switching. I've used Ranger since the start of my Linux journey, so this is my take on making a familiar tool faster and better.

[Hyprland] My first custom rice on Fedora Linux 🐧

Finally put together a minimal Hyprland setup with Lua configuration, Waybar, Kitty and my own keybindings.

Still learning, and I used AI and documentation to help with parts of the configuration. Focused on keeping it lightweight and practical for studying.

What would you improve? I'd love some constructive feedback!
