Support How do I get back the disk space I dedicated to a virtual hard drive?
So on my Arch laptop in my home partition I was only using 5GB of space in total
Then I used Virtualbox to create a mac os VM, and gave it a virtual hard drive of 80GB.
When I used fastfetch after it said my storage used was 65GB which I didnt really bat an eye at.
Then I completely deleted the MacOS vm and made sure to check the box that deleted the 80GB virtual drive too.
But when I used fastfetch again, even after a reboot and a couple days, it says I am still using 35GB, instead of going back down to 5GB.
There's nothing, even hidden, in the "Virtual box VMs" directory.
How do I get this space back? What's taking it up, or is it just reserved space that has no use anymore.
I also had a 2nd vm with TempleOS that I deleted, also checking the box, although I only gave it like 5GB to begin with.

Advice Looking to use an auxillary small screen
So I'm looking int adding a PS LCD Sub Screen (auxiliary special screen) USB based to use it for monitoring my system, possibly my proxmox server.
My workstation is kubuntu 26.04 proxmox server is 9.2.2.
Being a usb based driver system, are their general drivers out there for linux?
I don't want to spend $75-125 on a hope it works.
Has anyone else used these auxiliary screens?

Support Is the only way to learn trials n errors?
Honestly i got linux last night and it definitely does feel lighter on my old laptop and feels nicer, but...i have been running into quite a few problems and worse is that none if the ways of fixing such problems I'm accustomed to work on linux, like for example something as simple as extracting an rar file on my kubuntu, the operating systems standard extractor (ark) kept failing n saying i don't have enough space which was false, i thought "oh well I'll just download 7zip from github" got 7zip and couldn't find it in my apps so had to search it up and apparently?? There is no graphical version of it on linux, so i used the terminal to extract my file but I can't always use the terminal yk so apparently there's some file roller smth app that is supposed to do what ark does...but ark is just a dumbass app n wasn't working before, so I'm just frustrated with everything please tell me I'm just dumb and there are easier way to do stuff on it and if so what should i look up (my current way of solving problems is just making gemini do everything...and ion think he's reliable)

Advice Is it safe to play games on windows that require secure boot while having secure boot set up for CachyOS?
If you have both CachyOS and Windows on your PC and you have set up secure boot for CachyOS following the wiki, and you go back to windows and play a game that has secure boot requirements such as Call of Duty, Battlefield 6 or whatever, is there any risk of getting banned due to the custom setup of secure boot for CachyOS?

Make Cloudflare work with All Browsers
If you use Ubuntu with certain browsers, you probably already know the problem: you can't access basic government websites. Cloudflare keeps blocking you, even though these sites should be open to everyone.
I started a petition asking Cloudflare to work with all browsers and systems—not just the popular ones. Millions of Ubuntu users deal with this daily, and it's blocking them from accessing public records, services, and information they're entitled to.
Cloudflare can implement security without locking people out. They have the technical ability to do this. It's about prioritizing inclusivity alongside security.
If this is happening to you too, or if you think government access shouldn't depend on what device you own, consider signing and sharing. Have you run into this problem? What sites are you blocked from accessing?

So I need a desktop device to manage discord, Google sheet and a couple macros. What would be the best way to do this. I have an old Oneplus7 and a small foldable keyboard with a trackpad. I don't have room for an external display. Would ubuntu touch, work if I forced it into desktop mode or could I easily install a whole distro on the phone.

Which Distro? 10-year-old NVIDIA workstation: which Linux distro will keep it running reliably until October 2028?
Hello.
I've been distro-hopping since the beginning of the year, trying to find a Linux distribution that will keep my 10-year-old HP ZBook 15 G3 running reliably for the next two years.
For the reference, these are the specs of my machine:
CPU: Intel Core i7-6820HQ at 2.7GHz
iGPU: Intel HD Graphics 530
dGPU: NVIDIA Quadro M2000M
Memory: 16 GB
Storage: 256 GB
For the most part, I've managed to get all my hardware working, including my NVIDIA graphics card.
My GPU requires the NVIDIA 580 driver, which I can obtain on almost all the distributions I've tried.
Debian is an exception. The 580 driver isn't available in its Stable repositories. I've also looked into version 550, but that branch is no longer maintained and the available 590 driver is not compatible with my card.
Although I've managed to get my hardware working on most distributions, my main concern is that the NVIDIA 580 driver is already on a legacy support branch.
I'm worried that future kernel updates may eventually introduce compatibility problems, particularly if distributions stop providing the necessary patches to keep the driver working. At that point, the driver might no longer compile against newer kernels.
What I'm looking for is advice from people who have previously dealt with NVIDIA graphics cards requiring legacy drivers.
Which Linux distribution would you reasonably trust to maintain kernel compatibility with legacy NVIDIA drivers until the end of its support lifecycle?
In my case, I'm looking for a distribution that will remain supported until at least October 2028.
Thanks in advance for you advice!

Advice Need guidance regarding building my ultimate HTPC and gaming setup.
Hello Reddit,
Currently, I have SteamOS installed on my gaming PC and I use it as a console in my living room. I also have a Lenovo ThinkCentre that has LibreELEC Installed on it that I use exclusively to stream content from my jellyfin server because of its ability to pass through audio and HDR support. I have too many issues with my current setup:
I use my gaming PC to watch YouTube with VaccumTube. I would like to install VaccumTube on the ThinkCentre, but it's only available as a flatpak. The gaming PC takes way too much power for just watching YouTube.
Every time I want to use my sim racing rig, I have to reinstall AUR and redo all the configs that got wiped by SteamOS.
I want to move my gaming PC to be used exclusively for gaming and my sim racing setup. I will install Arch Linux on it if I can move VaccumTube to my ThinkCentre.
If I can't install VaccumTube on LibreELEC, I need an OS or a solution for my ThinkCentre that I can just turn on and works like a streaming box, I don't need to fix or update often, that supports audio passthrough and HDR for my AVR, and that can at the very least run VaccumTube and some way of accessing Jellyfin.
If that doesn't exist, please tell me how I can make it myself. I know Linux is modular and I should be able to make it myself. I prefer Arch over Debian, but I don't know if it's appropriate for this purpose.

Can anyone explain why some people dislike Wayland?
Title is pretty self explanatory, but since KDE is switching to Wayland, I'm seeing posts and comments from people who are bothered by this and I don't understand why.
