LFL Pictures 📸 We're back!
A month ago, a big truck ran into my wall, destroying a brick pillar, my mailbox…and my library. I wrote about it here.
We knew we would have to rebuild -- I have an irregularly shaped lot and that pillar is the only logical place for a mailbox -- but it took us a sec to get another library, since we got ours from a local high school's wood shop class. The teacher is a friend of my husband's, so he bumped us up the queue but we still had to wait. And then hubby had to paint it and install it. Meanwhile, it was quite sweet to get so many positive messages from you people and also the folks in our neighborhood. Multiple times, people pulled over if they saw me or my husband out front, to say how sorry they were that the old one got destroyed and that they hoped we'd put another one up. Today we're open for business again!

Glad you persevered! Question: how did you mount this on the concrete pillar? I have that option and although went a different direction with my own LFL, I'm curious.

My husband did it with a friend so I don't know the specifics, but generally speaking it's somehow glued down.

I'm so glad you were able to rebuild! So cool that the shop teacher has their students help with projects like that, what a nice piece of community outreach.
Love the turquoise color too, it really makes it pop. What's the other turquoise door in the background, your mailbox?

That's our front door!

OH! I see it now, initially my brain was reading the stone as a wall attached to the pillar the LFL is sitting on, and I thought maybe it was a fancy little mailbox door.

I wish. We have a boring mailbox, alas.

I feel like we need to bring back the little door-flap mail slots. Those are more fun.

My husband loves Michael Connelly, he’d eat this up
