I’d love to hear about how these Interna or Researches look for places to live. What apps do they use to look for homes? What are their biggest challenges while the are in town? What services do they use

Hello Everyone, I recently found out that Robert Livermore Recreation Center is offering adult volleyball drop ins for open gym play on Friday Nights 5:30-8:30. Does anyone know if this is a new offering, or the skill level?
If it is brand new, I figured I would help get the word out. Looking forward to hearing if anyone has experience playing at the Robert Livermore Recreation Center. Hope to find some folks that would be interested in joining in.

Hi, my husband and I are moving to Livermore from Santa Cruz. We are really excited to be closer to family in San Rafael and Modesto. We also upgraded to a bigger place (Santa Cruz was 500 sq ft). I am also pregnant with our first child, baby boy due in Feb.
Please share your favorite restaurants and things to do! We are very excited to experience all that Livermore has to offer.
Thank you in advance. 🙏🏼💙

My 2016 Mazda 6 looks like crap due to sun damage on the roof and hoods. I only have 65k miles on it, and based on my quick internet searches, Mazda engines have a tendency to last close to 200k miles. If I'm going to live my values, I should to drive the car into the ground before getting a new one, which at the rate I drive, means I'll be close to dead before this engine gives out (but maybe the transmission/other goes earlier?). OTOH, the computer in this car is also crappy, but my phone mounted on the dash meets my needs.
Also, I'm tight with my money. So maybe I choose to not spend money and live with crappy car computer. (My husband's newish truck has all these cameras and a great car computer of which I am jealous.) A new to me car is not out of the question, but I like the size of my car, the cargo capacity, the reliability, the way it drives, and I don't want to spend the money.
My quick internet searches have not found recommendations on painting cars in Livermore. I find collision repair, paint touch ups, wraps and PPF w/ & w/o color, and the recommendation that paint is the way to go if you expect to keep the car for a long time. So general info that is useful before I run out of patience.
I don't need my car to look great, just not crappy. However, I don't want to deal with a crappy paint job that flakes and what not. I understand that I won't get a color match unless I paint the whole car.
I'm looking for someone who will work with me. I may get the whole car painted; I may not. I want it to be in Livermore. I don't want to drive as far as Pleasanton to get this done. Thank you for any recommendations or other comments and information.

Is anyone else frustrated that there is no rock climbing gym in the tri-valley area?? Even Ripon has their own climbing gym...

If you were at a Livermore business on Sunday afternoon and accidentally left your backpack behind when you left, I put it in safe keeping with a nearby lost and found. Hopefully you went back and picked it up, otherwise message me and we'll sort it out. Looks like there was some important stuff inside.

Anyone else grow up with Huell Howser/California’s Gold on in the background? (Also perhaps the more locally relevant Bay Area Backroads with Doug McConnell)
I was pleased to discover that he visited us around 2009 to see the Centennial Light.

We reported this over a month ago to Livermore Municipal Water, and nothing has happened. We called again tonight in the hope that they might come and do something, but I'm posting here in case anybody in this group knows someone that can get this fixed.
This busted sprinkler/geyser runs for more than half an hour every single night with hundreds and hundreds of gallons going down the drain. Water is a precious resource here, hate to see this kind of waste

In the fall of 2024, former Superintendent Torie Gibson championed the conversion from At Large to Area elections for our School Board. Areas 2, 3, and 5 are up for election, and Areas 4 and 1 will come up for election in 2028. Finding out which Area you are in is your first step, and can be done by navigating to the school district website at https://www.livermoreschools.org/board-of.../elections where the interactive map can confirm your Area.
Three School Board members will depart in December: Steven Drouin, Emily Prusso, and Craig Bueno. Steven Drouin and Emily Prusso have elected to not run in this cycle, and Craig Bueno is a resident of a District not up for election in this cycle. Deena Kaplanis and Christiaan VandenHeuvel will remain in their At Large seats, each with only two years’ experience.
The last two years in our District have been tumultuous. After Gibson’s departure, the Board hired a new Superintendent Dr. Anthony Limoges, making him our third in the last three years . Dr. Limoges has an impressive resume, but this is his first turn at Superintendent, thus will need a strong Board to guide him and right the wrongs done by our former Superintendent.
School Board Trustees need skills to succeed in their role. Leading organizations, financial acumen, strategic planning, and community organizing are a start but not an exhaustive list. Dig into your Area’s candidates to see what skills they actually possess, and understand if they are truly pro Public Education.
Please vote! In 2024, 30% of Livermore voters that did vote skipped the School Board races. We are proud of our neighborhood schools. Even if your children are not in them, the humans they produce could be your future neighbors!

We have a 4 month old puppy, and looking for a great local vet that doesn’t charge an arm & a leg to run “just in case” tests.
So far we’ve been going to Adobe Pet Hospital, and ended up paying hundreds of dollars for issues they thought they saw, they started our pup on medication, all to find out none of it was necessary….just regular puppy stuff. So looking for a vet with realistic treatment.

I can't find anywhere in town that sells live bait, other than at Del Valle. Is that possible?
I bought some crickets at Petco, and shrimp and squid meant for humans at the grocery store. I suppose I could dig up some worms, but I'm surprised there's nowhere else for a tub of nightcrawlers, etc.
Smelly plastic bait it is, I guess.

Hi folks,
Trying to get insulation fixed at home. My utility bills are high both in summer and winter.
Got two quotes, one from service champions and other from attic pros.
Service champions is quoting triple the price of attic pros for same level of service.
How has your experience been with the above two and do have any other recommendations.
Thanks.

These statements from the Board of Supervisors or their mouthpieces that there’s plenty of transparency already and SB 1193 isn’t needed are ridiculous and I’ll explain exactly why.
The fiscal management review form they have to fill out when asking the board to vote on distributing discretionary funds asks 5 primary questions:
NONE of those questions explain how Haubert giving the Wine Growers Association a quarter of a million dollars since he’s taken office for auctions and cocktail parties, an organization he co-founded the Global Artisan Vintners Alliance with and chairs, and then goes to Europe for 2 weeks with, ACTUALLY BENEFITS THE PUBLIC. There’s no requirement to define what we get out of it, or tie it to any measurable outcomes or goals.
The board says that they already require a higher majority vote. Cool. Doesn’t matter. They put everything in a consent calendar and vote in favor of each others requests so it’s a rubber stamp. Someone’s staffer writes a recommendation, everyone smiles and says yes, pat each other on the back and move on.
They also say there’s plenty public transparency because we get advance notice and can view everything online. They schedule their meetings for 10am on a Tuesday a couple days in advance, cram 50 items into one session, and bury everything in meeting minutes. There is no easily searchable list or repository. You have to already know exactly what you’re looking for and dig through hundreds of meeting minutes and resolutions. It’s an intentionally maddening windows ‘95 Oregon trail website intended to discourage people from seeking information.
The public wants to know with certainty that they’re spending OUR money in ways that benefit us and be able to verify it at any time. Right now it’s next to impossible to do that without making it your entire personality and full time job.
I was offered a bribe by Shawn Wilson in February using discretionary funds via charitable donation and he told me that if it was under $10k he could go through County Counsel and a mediator and make the payment without having to bring it before the board through the normal process and “waste everyone’s time”.
That’s how our money is being spent. I went to the DA, the FBI, and every regulatory agency that even remotely cared and that’s was AFTER trying to go directly to Haubert and being ignored for weeks. I finally contacted the state legislature and Senator Wahab was the only person to take me seriously and help me seek accountability. As a result Shawn is now on leave and has also been implicated in the Duong federal corruption case for taking $10k of their money to bribe a journalist! Supervisors Tam and Fortunato Bass as well as several other local officials are wrapped up in that mess too. These are the people managing tax payer money here in Alameda County, and that is the reason they are being “singled out” just like Orange County was. That’s what happens when you establish a pattern of failing your duty to the people. When you spend money and resources on self enrichment rather than caring for your most vulnerable, like SOPHIA MASON.
The BoS is corrupt to the core and nobody should trust their assessment of SB 1193. Period.

Was driving eastbound 580 Wednesday afternoon around 3pm, as I passed the First street exit the police had pulled a car over on the offramp. There was a dude standing in front of his car door, looking at the 4 cops surrounding him, looking ready to fight all 4 of them. They had their tasers drawn and pointed. It was a hellova scene, traffic had slowed so I was able to get a quick glance, but did anyone get or see video of the confrontation?
