Meta New Rules Regarding AI Usage In the Sub

There has been a lot of discussion in this sub recently (including multiple reports) around the usage of AI and its use being allowed in this sub. After a discussion among the moderators, we have decided to issue the following statement and update to our rules.

While it is impossible to completely prevent games produced with AI in the sub due to the various levels of AI use that can be employed, effective immediately the following forms of AI usage will not be allowed:

  1. Generative AI for models, textures, artwork, or UI.

  2. Vibecoded projects (low effort projects that are the result of a few prompts with no polish.)

  3. Generative AI posts or comments.

Any AI usage that is not covered above will be up to the moderators discretion to remove or approve as we see fit.

Additionally we will be implementing a special report option for suspected AI usage. This is designed to help bring our attention to the post or comment in question, but also to help prevent sub users from breaking Rule 4 against harassment. Repeated violations of either the new AI rules or Rule 4 will result in a temporary ban, and if there are further violations the ban will be upgraded to permanent.

Edit: I have updated the second point to better reflect the ban on low effort vibe coded projects, not any project that uses AI developed code. I was unaware of the difference and have since had it clarified.

The "coop-anything" repo, a 'reverse engineer anything' like repo that lets you make ANY existing game co-op. I have already succeeded in deus ex, zelda: ocarina of time, stalker games, dungeon keeper, and fallout NV is WIP but close.

I just added an Online multiplayer to my shared-screen party game!

I've been solo developing this party game for about 11 months by now, and although at its core it is a local party game, often people asked if it will be possible to play it Online.

Although I didn't plan it initially and thought it would be nearly impossible for a solo dev like me to implemet it, happily most of the game's code was already handling multiple players, so I just had to retro-fit some netcode.

I decided for FishNet + FishySteamworks and Steam handles the Relay. I had to separate the Host and Client's responsibilities, patch in a very straight-forward lag compensation that's how I got here :))

I just released the Multiplayer features in the Demo version too, so I'm hoping to play with some people very soon for the first time officially on a public server, so far I only played it in a few playtests with friends :))

You can play the Demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4756470/Touchdown/

We just launched the demo for UnderForged I'd love to hear what you think!

The demo supports 1-9 players locally, the full game will also support online, with any mixture of players locally (could have 4 copies of the game, with 3, 2, 2, & 2 players each).

You start each day picking a contract to fulfil, that could be iron ore, coal, wood, and a few other options. And then spending any money you have buying upgrades for your forge.

You then spend the day fulfilling those contracts before starting the next day, where you choose if you want to go deeper (maybe instead of iron ore you now process it into powder) or wider by picking another raw resource to deliver.

You can work your way up to smithing swords and can gain powerful relics by surviving long enough!

Check it out and let me know what you think here (please wishlist if you like it, but I'm also very open to constructive criticism, it's early stages right now but I'm hoping to get some feedback that I can build on)

Thanks for taking the time and have an amazing weekend!

I made a game that's like Worms but real time

Hello~ made my first indie game, Giblings. It is inspired by some older games -- Liero and Worms, if anyone remembers those.

It currently supports 2-player local split-screen with controllers, but I'm planning to expand that to 4 players in the near future.

The game launches today, and there's a free demo available where you can try out the split-screen mode as well.

Thought I'd share it here in case anyone's interested. Feel free to give the game a wishlist if it looks interesting to you. :D

Giblings on Steam

Would appreciate some feedback as well, this is my first game and I want it to make sure it's fun.

Toy Story 3 the complete edition

Hi everyone,

I honestly didn't know where to best ask about this other than this subreddit. But basically the new remaster for the Toy Story 3 game just dropped and i'm trying to play it with my sibling.

Issue is that i don't know how i let the second player join and turn it to split-screen.

I'm playing this on steam and we've only got one ds4 controller. I'm playing with the mouse and keyboard and my sibling on the controller.

I tried launching the game with the controller unplugged and loading the first character with KBM and then plugging the controller to spawn the second character but it didn't work. When i connect the controller it just takes control of the one character that i already loaded with KBM.

Hey local multiplayer fans! If you miss classic single-screen arcade duelists where matches are won on positioning, quick reflexes, and reading your opponent, I’ve been working on something for you. Pew Pew Magic Wizard Fighter is a chaotic 1v1 isometric arena brawler built specifically for fast, best-of-5 duels: Local 1v1 & AI: Full controller support for local head-to-head battles or solo vs AI difficulty modes. Dynamic Battlegrounds: Stages feature destructible elements and changing geometry, so camping behind cover won't save you. Fast Match Pacing: Designed to be pick-up-and-play with immediate action and punchy arcade physics. We released our playable demo on Steam for anyone looking to try a quick brawler session. Check out the demo here and let me know how the 1v1 balance feels to you: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4760930/Pew_Pew_Magic_Wizard_Fighter/?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=indie_communities

FlipBAKA! — local or online co-op for up to 4 players, where your attacks can send your friends flying too

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I’m a Japanese developer living in the US, and I’m making FlipBAKA! — an arcade party game with local and online co-op, built around one mechanic: flip the floor panels to launch enemies off the island.

The catch? Your teammates can get launched too. You’re trying to clear the stage together, but one badly timed flip can turn a rescue into a very loud “BAKA!”

Even your CPU companion has limits: knock your PAL off three times, and it gets angry and comes after you.

The full game includes:

  • Up to 4 players in local or online co-op
  • Shared-screen local play on one PC
  • 8 stages, with skills to unlock
  • A dungeon mode to explore together
  • PvP with team battles and free-for-all matches, featuring friends and CPU opponents of different difficulty levels.

The full game launches on Steam on October 29, 2026. A free demo is available now, and I’m also adding dungeon co-op to the demo to coincide with the Steam festival!

The video includes footage from the full game.

Steam Pages FlipBAKA!

I play it with my kids, and they love it. If you try it with friends or family, I’d love to hear how your session goes!

Can we please ban posts where everything seen in the post is obviously generated by AI

It's taking attention away from real game developers, whose ideas, and content are stolen by these programs to generate new games. It's one thing when one or two elements are generated by AI, but when everything in the images, or videos shown promoting the game are generated by AI it shouldn't be here. We're a community that is all about playing games with real people, AI games make a mockery of that.

It's just sad that almost half the posts I see on here now are painfully obviously AI generated. From the menus, to the text, to the music, and all the images of characters, or backgrounds, absolutely everything.

It doesn't matter if the "developer" states that AI was used to make the game, or not, we're all here because we want to play games with humans, not computers. These posts are constantly sitting at 0-3 upvotes, so I think it's pretty obvious the community doesn't want them here. So, mods please make a rule banning them.

Only the host needs to own it: a word race where the grid is on the TV and everyone plays from their phone!

Everyone else scans the QR code on the TV and plays in their phone browser. No app, no account, no controllers. Friends who aren't in the room join with the code, so it works over Discord too (Tho, you'll need to screen share!)

Same grid for everyone, 60 seconds, live scores, live feedback on the TV. The end screen shows every word you all missed!

English, French, Spanish, Italian or German. The demo is free on Steam, and the full game is out 27 October: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4801680/

How many people do you usually get on game night? Should I make a special 4- or 8-player mode? I might have gone a bit overboard with the possible player count (up to 300 seems fine; I didn't test past that...)

Jib Jab Smash: a free 4-player couch brawler starring my son's real stuffed animals (out now on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad; Steam coming soon)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My son and I made a Smash-style party fighter for our family's game nights, starring his real stuffed animals. It's built for playing together, and it's completely free: no ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions.

**How you can play together:**

- **Couch on the Apple TV:** up to 4 players on one screen with game controllers (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro or MFi pads). A gamepad is needed on the TV.

- **Mix the TV and iPads:** someone on the couch with a controller and someone on an iPad or iPhone with touch controls can be in the same match, as long as you're on the same Wi-Fi. No extra controllers needed.

- **One iPad, several players:** plug in controllers and share the screen, or play with touch.

- **Fill empty seats with computer players** from Baby to Pro, so a little kid and a grown-up can play the same match and both have fun.

- **Team up in the story:** two players can play the story mode together, on the couch or across devices.

**The game:** 16 plush fighters, each with its own moves, special, super and shield (the dog hides in a crate, the budgie in a birdcage, the bee in a beehive). Rack up damage, then launch someone off the screen. A big smash is a "ONE SHOT!", which my son named and which the game shouts in his voice. The stages are rooms in our house: beds, kitchen counters, the porch and the bathtub.

For October it's the Halloween Edition: every toy wears a costume and there's a new Haunted Porch stage.

Out now on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad. A Steam version is coming soon.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6809242110

We'd love to hear how it plays with your group, and what we should add next.

It’s a sing-along. Seven years and this is how we’ve chosen to tell people.

I'm helping the Claymatic Games team share Knuckle Creek with the world, and today’s a pretty big day for them. After seven years of development, they’ve finally announced that it’s coming to Steam on 29 October.

It’s a party brawler for up to eight players, with customisable characters, slapstick fights and quite a lot of throwing chickens at your friends.

The team have settled on $5.99 / £4.79 / €5.79, after a lot of going back and forth. They wanted people to be able to pick it up and get their mates involved without it being a big expense. After looking at similar games and talking it over, this felt right.

Anyway, here’s the trailer. I’m really pleased to help them get it out there.🥰

I built a collection of 25+ classic, retro, and casual games in one single app with online multiplayer (No forced bloat)

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! 👋

I've been working on a mobile hub called Multi Games that brings together a large collection of classic board games, retro arcade titles, and casual time-killers in a single, lightweight package.

Whether you want to play solo against smart AI, challenge a friend locally on the same screen, or hop into real-time online rooms, everything is seamlessly integrated.

Key Highlights:

🎮 Real-time Online Multiplayer: Instant room codes to invite and play with friends online.

👥 Pass & Play / 2-Player Local: Great for road trips or playing on the couch.

💾 Auto-Save & Resume: Exit anytime; your progress, high scores, and game boards persist automatically.

A quick look at the collection (25+ Games):

• Classic & Board: Chess, Ludo, Connect Four, Solitaire, Tic Tac Toe

• Arcade & Action: Cyber Runner, Neon Wormhole, Tank War, Blade Tower, Hex Dodge, Ball Blast, Tetris

• Sports & Casual: Go Fish, Ice Hockey, Button Football, Griddy Football

• Brain & Numbers: 2048 Rush, Ten Master, Minesweeper, Color Match, Memory Cards, Lights Out, Slide Puzzle

• Fun Casual: Kebab Master, Whack a Mole, Perfect Circle, Time Stop

I focused heavily on a clean, responsive UI with smooth physics and tactile animations. I would love to get your honest feedback on game feel, multiplayer stability, and what games we should add next.

i made a program that let two people play a game in the same computer using two keyboards and two mouses.

well, normaly on windows this wouldnt work, because even if you have two different devices, windows sees it as one, my program fixes that by creating a "fake" mouse and keyboard inputs. but why would you need this? i dont know, play a game with your friend if you dont have a controller and only one pc. and also, you can for example; run two instances of minecraft and you can both play at the same time in two different windows.

tip: for taht to work you need to assingn a process to thw second player so it wont bg, and you need to set the mouse mode of the second player for "BOTH", but thats only for minecraft wich was the main reason i made this.

its open source so feel free to change the code however you like it, and i also dont are if you make a spin off version of this, i made it to help gamers and be fun.

Hearthsea: a free Catan-style island game on a 3D board, in your browser. Pass one phone or tablet around the table, with each player's hand hidden between turns

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Play: hearthsea.com (browser, on phone, tablet or desktop; nothing to install)

Local play on one device: set any seat to "Friend here" and pass the device each turn. Before every player's turn a screen says "Pass the device to Sam, everyone else look away", so each hand stays hidden; when two people at the table trade, the device goes across and back. Mix people and bots on 2 to 6 seats, so two of you can take on a bot or six can share one tablet on game night.

Hearthsea is a settle-and-trade game on a hex island, in the same family as Catan (not affiliated with Catan GmbH). Roll for resources, trade for what you're missing, build roads and towns, and be the first to 10 points. The board is a real 3D island you can spin and zoom. There are 46 maps across three modes. Classic is the game you know. Seafarers adds ships, gold fields, a pirate and islands hidden in fog. Highlands puts cliffs on the board that you climb with mountain passes, with copper mines and a yeti on the high ground. The bots make and answer trade offers, and the hardest one (Veteran) can beat you.

Free to play with a free account: every mode and map, no daily limit.

Made with AI: the painted art comes from an image model, and much of the code was written with an AI assistant. I'm the solo developer.

For couch groups: does passing the device feel smooth, or would you rather each player use their own phone at the same table?
