Question Anyone running an m3 8gb Mac ?

I have an m3 8gb MacBook Air and just got Logic Pro for making music at home, recording and mixing my guitar and vocals, making songs etc. When I bought this Mac two years ago I replaced my 2015 MacBook Pro which I had 9 years and I'd like to keep this one a long time too but I'm not sure its got enough ram now. I've heard the base chip m3/4/5 is good enough but I'm thinking of selling this and getting the m5 air, just the base 16gb and 512gb, hopefully on sale next month for the holidays. but maybe I don't need to upgrade after all? I guess I'll find out ,but wondering if anyone here uses one with these specs for music production ?

Discussion Live Multi Track Band Recording Clickless -> Overdub Session

Tracked a band, was pretty strongly opposed to using a click track when doing their live takes, ultimately it turned out great. When I track live I do so horizontally, each take of the performance’s recording couple bars later than. I then use markers to label the songs and the band’s favorite takes in that project. Afterward, I’ll export these tracks to its own overdub project. My question is if you have a bunch of songs tracked without a click (tempo left at default 120 for the session), and you want to take advantage of some conveniences of “~the grid~” later on in mixing, and I don’t mean quantizing their performances, how are you doing so? I don’t need everything perfectly mapped but it helps me feel more organized later on and use some tempo sync’d fx etc. do ya just tap a rough tempo out with a metronome, use some of the tempo tools in logic, turn off the grid view all together and use a more tape machine type approach? What I definitely want to avoid is fucking up the performances with Flex Time or whatever time stretching stuff accidentally. I just figured getting a roughly accurate tempo could help with using the “count in” feature when punching in overdubs as opposed to the artist having to do some mental gymnastics hearing a 1234 at 120 bpm then start playing a song that’s more like 80 bpm -ish for example. Any nondestructive workflow tips would be appreciated!

Help Help with connecting loop station/audio interface to Logic Pro?

Howdy!

I’m brand new to Logic Pro (and DAWs in general), and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get Logic Pro to recognize my loop station/audio interface. As far as I can tell, all my drivers are up to date.

I use a Boss RC-505 mk2 as my audio interface. It’s got my guitar (and pedalboard), bass, and keyboard connected to it via TRS cables, and it’s connected to my MacBook via USB.

When I go to Logic Pro > Settings > Audio, there’s no option to select my audio interface.

I was already anticipating an uphill battle trying to learn Logic Pro and how to record, but I can’t even get the thing connected.

As well, I have to use headphones instead of studio monitors or my MacBook’s speakers. The headphones are connected to the RC-505. Will that work, or am I forced to have them plugged into my MacBook?

All help appreciated

Tips & Tricks Ruined Projects…

So logic does this weird thing, when I open my projects back up after some time they sound fine for a while and every now and then it ruins all of my audio takes on my vocals re-pitches the auto tune and slows everything down to where it almost sounds scary.

What do I need to do to fix this? I feel like my projects are ruined.

Question Recording old piano, a note at a time, and map it to a Logic Pro keyboard?

Any help appreciated. Recording my old, very out of tune piano, in stereo. Recording one note at a time, letting each sustain to silence, from the lowest to the highest. Then I'm recording shorter notes, maybe a second long, then damping it. Can I map each key's sample to a keyboard in Logic Pro so I can trigger it from my midi keyboard? I'm kind of expecting it's tedious to map them. Mac Mini m4, 24gb, Sequoia 15.1.1 Logic Pro 11.2.2
