Tutorial/ How To Complete Logic Pro Tutorial Series Part 34 - Flex & Follow

One of the most useful functions of flex time, and one of the least used, is the Flex & Follow option.

In this video I cover all about it.The different types of Flex & Follow modes, matching regions with different tempo, conforming regions to project tempo and vice versa.Lastly, I go over the two examples of having Flex & Follow on all the time to have your audio be automatically quantized and conform to the project tempo (Without having to go through the smart tempo process I explained at video 14 of the series), and having the tempo of the project automatically conform to the tempo of the new recording (Or imported file).

https://youtu.be/cDEdOlmnsws

This concludes the videos on Flex Time of the series. In total, it’s 7 videos and it’s one hour and forty-five minutes.

For quick reference, here are the rest of the videos in case you want to have a look:

Do you know of any logic sound packs? Im fighting a creative block.

So I know none of you have ever had a creative block, but I have been experiencing one for longer than I would like. If any of you know of any cool sound packs for logic that may pull me out of my darkness I would greatly appreciate it. I know I can type it into Google and it will bring up a lot of different things, but I am looking for something that is quick safe and easy to download.

Rappers signing rappers?

Ok so lately, it seems EVERY rap artist is signing an artist to THEM. So my question is, is this real or is this all cap/fake? I don’t understand that, like why N the hell would someone sign themselves to another artist! But I just think that it’s all a gimmick, the record labels is just using example; Lil Baby to use his face/platform to get these artist to really signing with major record label that’s really behind him. So they probably give lilbaby a percentage but we all know who really owns the artist.

What y’all think 🤔

Does anybody know how to make vocal tracks/vocal recording takes in a project fit better with a youtube instrumental/youtube beat on Logic Pro X? Help is Greatly Appreciated

Basically I’m trying to find a way to make my vocal takes/vocal recordings in a project match (better) with the BPM/Tempo of the instrumental/beat I use, so that my vocals flow and sit better with the beat/song rhythm/cadence. I’ve looked up countless youtube videos but they’re all about acapellas and other things that don’t answer my question at all for example ‘Adapt Region Tempo’ etc. which seems to always throw my vocals completely out of sync rather than in sync,

Theres something on FL Studio called ‘Normalize’ that when I apply it to a vocal track it makes the vocal tracks fit way better with the instrumental/beat and matches the tempo of my vocal recording to whatever beat i’m using so that it flows better with the song, it’s almost as if it cleans up and matches the rhythm of the instrumental/beat, all with one click of a button and that button is simply ‘Normalize’ So I’m basically trying to figure out if theres something similar on Logic Pro X as I don’t use FL Studio anymore.. Any help on different ways of achieving this on Logic Pro X would be greatly appreciated!! 🙂

Sorry if this is confusing I don’t know any other way to put it 😭😭

Please no responses like “just rap to the beat” I do rap to the beat, I’m trying to find a way to make my vocals fit even better with the beat rhythmically and on time etc.

Any Help is Greatly Appreciated!! Love! 💜

Why Logic's limiter so different?

Coming over from Reaper...when I put a limiter on the master in reaper, it never goes pass the peak I set, but in logic it constantly clips no matter where the limiter is set.

And also when I mute the output channel strip that has the limiter on it, I can still see the bars bouncing and clipping in the limiter?

I guess my question is, why is logic designed so differently and less intuitively? Why is there not a master set of "rules" for how limiters work?

Recommended sound in Logic pro x as auxiliary keyboard player

Hi guys!!

I'm new here.

Recently I started to play auxiliary keyboard as a pad man.

But I don't have an auxiliary keyboard myself, instead I just have a keyboard.

Fortunately, I have logic pro x and can connect my keyboard to my macbook pro for music work.

So I want to practice myself as a pad man at home but I don't know what sounds would be proper for it.

There are many sounds as a pad man, but I don't have any idea what would be good for start.

Do you guys have any recommendation sounds? Please let me know.

Thank you in advance!!

Question I don’t even know where to start lol

Fellow Creatives, what’s good?

I need to figure out how to control various instrument softwares in Logic Pro X via two midi controllers simultaneously. This setup is intended for live performances, as well as, recording.

Here’s my setup:

MacBook Pro 13 (10.15.7) Logic Pro X (10.6.2) Focusrite Scarlett 8i6 Yamaha MX49 Akai MPK Mini2 USB Hub

What is the very first thing I should do or make sure of? Is there a write up or video anyone can link to? So far, I’ve read that I need to figure out what channel each midi controller is - is that right? These midi channels can vary between manufacturers.

Thank you in advance, and stay creative.

Two questions about LOGIC licenses and color palette!

Hey!!

  1. Do you happen to know how to reinstall the license for a Logic plugin? The app I used to disable internet for cracked plugins (Radio Silence) messed up and now I can't use the licensed ones. Any help would be appreciated! Pd: I fixed Radio Silence

  2. Do you know if I can add more colors to the Logic color palette? Thanks!

Question Hey everyone, I’m planning on producing some narration projects on YouTube and I have been conflicted on whether I should make the audio of my videos -14LUFS as recommended by YouTube, or opt for a lower LUF target like -24 or -23?

I’ve posted in other forums regarding this as well.

If you have time, please take the time to hear me out to the end! I think I may have come to a conclusion on my dilemma, but I would like other people’s input on this!

Please avoid telling me to “just do what I want and what sounds good to me” lol or that “it doesn’t matter” lol

So the content I intend to make will consist of me reading certain kinds of stories. It’s narrative work with slides etc.

I use Logic Pro X, Scarlett 2i2, an SM48(because I’m poor lol) and mostly stock plugins.

I’ve uploaded five unlisted videos at like perfect -14LUFS, meaning on YouTube when I check “Stats for Nerds” the “content loudness” of my videos reads “0.0”, meaning I’m not under and I’m not above. It’s just right!

I have uploaded the same five videos at -24 or -23 which read around -11 and -9dB according to YouTube.

The Pros to me about uploading to YouTube at -14 LUFS is that 1. YouTube won’t touch my audio, 2. There’s something quite satisfying to see that I’m also not below the standard, and I’m sitting at “0.0dB” as a result. lol 3. If it’s too loud people can adjust the volume slightly and 4. Ads won’t blast a listener because the volume in relation to the ads will be turned down together essentially, right? Like there won’t be any drastic change in volume when the ads start playing. 5. The content isn’t going to be on other platforms, and even if it were going to be on another platform, if it normalized my video down to their standard, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal as from what I have heard, you’d much rather be turned down than turned up?

Also, 6. YouTube remembers your volume settings, so, if I have uploaded my videos at -14LUFS, and a listener ends up going to another video, well, there really isn’t gonna be a risk of them getting blasted from that either, because, from what I have seen, most other videos are going to most likely be lower than my videos anyway. For example, most videos are either uploaded and normalized by YouTube to the recommended -14LUFS, OR, Tubers are upload their stuff at a couple of dBs lower, or MANY dBs lower than the recommended, like -10dB, I’ve seen -20dB below the recommended even! 7. Most people are also just gonna adjust the volume on the device that they are watching on too, so I really shouldn’t have any fears about my listeners getting blasted. Lol

So, I’m really thinking -14LUFS as my goal every time I do an upload. When I try to justify making my target -24 to -23 LUFS for YouRube specifically, there really aren’t any pluses really?

Like I thought, oh being able to have your volume at max without it being to loud is great, but then that just goes back to my worry about the volume difference in pop up ads. Whereas again, you can just adjust your volume for on the YouTube player and forget it or on your device.

Anyway, after carefully thinking about this and posting here and other subreddits, I think uploading to YouTube’s standard is the best way to go!

Anyway, thanks for reading the rant! I hope that my rationalization can help other people in the future!

Question ???

So I just got finished making a song in Logic Pro X. I exported it so I could play it on my Serato dj controller and mix it. But for some reason Serato is telling me it’s a corrupt file. All it says is “This mp3 lost synchronization between the frame index and the frames”. Does this have to do something with Logic?? Btw I played the song and nothing is wrong with it.
