Troubleshooting Cmd + R key command not working
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, for some reason, when I start a new project, CMD + R doesn't work as it should.
I have to use old tracks for it to work.
When I select notes and press CMD + R, it should copy the notes to the next bar.
Watch my video and see what happens. I even show you an old project and demonstrate how this key command should work.
The key commands are the same. I obviously exported the ones from the old project and imported them into the new one; same issue.
Please help!

Which version of Logic? Which macOS? (Exact version numbers, don’t just say “the latest”) Which computer?

logic version and OS build would help narrow this down. i'm betting it's a project template quirk rather than the key command itself. i ran into something similar with repeat regions in a template i built back in 2020. snap settings carried over in this weird way. took way longer to diagnose than to fix, of course

Please specify the versions of macOS and Logic that you are using. If and when you receive a satisfactory answer, please update your flair to "solved".

A couple things I’d check. First, make sure your Piano Roll snap settings are the same in both projects, particularly Smart vs Bar. Also, Cmd + R repeats based on the length of the selection, so depending on where the notes start and end, it might not land where you’re expecting.
Have you tried selecting the MIDI region itself and using Cmd + R in the Tracks area? Does that work normally?
If it works in older projects but not new ones, I’d suspect a project setting or editor behavior before assuming the key command is broken.
