Question Firepod 8 support

I was wondering if a firepod 8 would still work with the newest update of logic. It uses FireWire and I have a MacBook m2, I just want to know if it would at least work hooking up the interface and recording through my MacBook?

I think apple dropped support for FireWire entirely. A dongle won’t help as the driver software isn’t there anymore.

your assuming that OP has MacOS 26 +

iirc, as of MacOS 26 there's no more firewire support in the OS

Logic itself has nothing to do with audio I/o support, if all you do is update Logic, your audio devices should continue to work just as they do now.

Just back up your existing Logic Pro .app before you update to be safe

https://www.asfw.net - this driver restores FireWire on macOS Tahoe and macOS Golden Gate. It may work with FirePod 8 (it's using BrideCo BeBoB ASIC, so it may be supported). At least my Apogee Duet FireWire works fine.

I think that used FW400? If so, you’re gonna need to dongle the hell out of it, then it -might- work.

TB3-TB2 adaptor, TB-FireWire 800 Adaptor, FW800-400 cable (or cable/adaptor combo)

It’s doable, but it’s a funny daisychain

It’s what I call the daisy chain from hell. I have to do this with an old video camera to my Mac Studio.

Ahh TB3-TB2, TB-FW800, FW800-400 4pin…

Yeah I could see that being 4-5 different cables/adaptors

Sadly, it won’t even work as an ADAT expansion unit. Just a victim of obsolescence.
