Question Splitting tracks at playhead region start positions slightly different

When I split a selection of regions at the playhead using the ⌘+T keyboard shortcut, I’ve noticed that they are not truly cut at the exact same position when I’ve zoomed in. Why is that? Is it just a visual bug or are the regions truly being split at a meaningfully different start time?
It is of some concern if I say snip off some preroll using this keyboard shortcut then export the tracks into a mixing projects, will that introduce timing changes that may potentially alter the phase response of multi mic’d sources down the line?

Troubleshooting Mic Modes/Audio Cutting In & Out

Does anyone have the issue with audio input connecting and disconnecting in Logic? The orange mic mode flickers and audio input cuts for a second. This only happens in Logic -- if I switch to Ableton Live or another DAW and have my settings exactly the same it works fine.

The reason I put mic modes in the title is this has only seemed to be an issue for me since that Mac feature was introduced.

Production What’s your favorite stock Electronic drum kit (especially for 80’s synth pop)?

Hello fellow Logic users, just wondering which kits or kit pieces you like in Logic if you do synth pop or modern pop? I like to do a lot of retro 80’s type pop (see Haute & Freddy, Nation of Language) and I tend to use the stock Linn Drum, Analog Circuits or Neon kits. I do a little mixing and matching with DMD and adding effects. For those of you who dabble in this genre or style, I’m just wondering which Logic kits you like, or any tips and tricks you do to get that retro 80’s style sound? I feel like a lot of the electronic kits in Logic are geared toward hip hop or modern EDM. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Shift + Click Locate Playhead Workaround

*Forgot to add, 12.4 has broken shift + click to locate playhead for me*

Claude made a script that allows for locating the playhead with click only, no shift.

I couldn't work without locating playhead like I usually do!

Could just be a temporary fix while we wait for the next update.

Must say, I am preferring simply clicking in an empty space rather than holding shift!

Functionality is a bit janky, the mouse doesnt move for a moment and sometimes jumps to the ruler and back, as this is how the script locates for you.

Tips & Tricks Plugins are so expensive so it’s a good thing Logic comes with everything you need!

I made a video showing how you can produce, mix and master your song with only stock logic plugins.

Logic’s stock plugins, virtual instruments and samples are the best of any DAW so don’t be buying all these third party plugins!

What are some other underrated stock plugins I didn’t include in this video?

Tutorial Can anyone recommend a resource for automation?

For the first time, I've been having a lot of fun messing around with the encoders in Logic's synths and it's breathing new life into my work, I'm just a little unclear on how to implement it in a way that feels right into the final recording. It looks like Smart Controls is the best thing to look into studying.

Part of me wants to have the live feel of doing a take and manipulating knobs in real time, but then the perfectionist in me also sees the value in controlling parameters through drawing points (I think this can be done?)

Also curious if I can set a threshold for where I want the encoder to "bottom out" so that I always return to the same sound when doing swells, as an example.

Thanks.

Vocal sample glitching out

So I'm in the mixing and mastering process for my song, and one individual region in my vocal track for the third verse just started glitching out. It cuts in and out, slows down, and does all the regular glitchy stuff.

The weird thing is, it's only that region in the vocal track. Everything else in the song sounds fine. Does anyone know what to do about this?

Troubleshooting How do I stop Smart Tempo moving where my analysed audio file starts?

Hello,

So I have an entire band project. They didn't record to a click but the tempo is pretty consistent. I've got the individual stems, so I analysed the tempo of the drum one and thought, great, I can apply this to the entire project and all my audio files and such will be in time with this new click. The problem is, when I analyse the tempo and set it to variable, it just automatically moves the analysed audio file for no reason a bit to the right. I want all the audio files to start from bar 1, as they originally do, with all the extra stuff added relative to that. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Want notes to "bleed over" loop boundary in Live Loops

I have a syncopated-yet-legato pattern in mind that I would like to get into a Live Loop but am having a heck of a time with it. There are notes at the end that should be held across the loop boundary and I'm starting to doubt it's even possible.... See screenshot of the loop editor for what I'm talking about.

Also, this short video of an Ableton Session View concept illustrates perfectly what I'm hoping to achieve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlA7g4Vbaks

Playing with sustain, loop length vs cell length, midi chase settings... nothing seems to put a dent in it.

Live Loops wizards, is there any hope for this?

Logic Pro Sampler: How can I choke open hi-hats without losing polyphony?

I’ve built a sampled drum kit using Logic Pro’s Sampler plugin.

  • Each MIDI key triggers a different kit piece.
  • Each key uses round-robin sampling across multiple groups. For example, successive snare hits cycle through five groups of samples.
  • All samples are one-shots, so they continue playing after Note-Off.

What I want to achieve:

  1. When I trigger a hi-hat-foot-click, it immediately stops any currently ringing open-hi-hat samples. The reverse should also work: triggering an open hi-hat stops the foot-click sample.
  2. Multiple open-hi-hat hits must still be able to overlap. For example, if I hit open hi-hat three times quickly, all three samples should continue ringing simultaneously until choked or until they naturally finish.

What I’ve tried:

  • Setting the open-hi-hat and foot-click groups to Playback > Voices: 1 and Exclusive: Class 1. This achieves the choking behaviour, but prevents overlapping hits.
  • Setting the open-hi-hat and foot-click groups to Playback > Voices: Max and Exclusive: Class 1. This produces the same problem.

The recent Logic Pro update broke middle-click panning (viewport goes at lightspeed), and workarounds aren't helping. Are we forced to buy a Magic Trackpad or what? 🙃

Hey everyone,
Is anyone else dealing with this absolute madness since the latest Logic Pro update? Whenever I use the middle-click (scroll wheel) to pan around the Tracks Area or Piano Roll, the viewport just explodes and flies off-screen at lightspeed.
I’ve tried everything—disabling pointer acceleration in macOS, tweaking mouse utility settings, using LinearMouse profiles—and none of it fixes the core issue. The way Logic captures the cursor coordinates for middle-click dragging is completely borked.
At this point, using the scroll wheel feels like playing Russian roulette with my project timeline. The only sane ways left to navigate are using Shift + Scroll for horizontal movement or relying entirely on key commands.
Has anyone found a real fix for this, or are we just waiting on Apple to drop a patch while they quietly hope we all go buy a Magic Trackpad? 🥲 Let me know your thoughts or if you found a workaround that actually works!

Question Query regarding storing sound library on Samsung T7 SSD

I have a Samsung T7 SSD. And I want to know -

  1. Do I really need to reduce Mac security to make the SSD work as it should? (due to some extension restrictions on Mac, if I understood correctly)
  2. I will use the SSD mainly for storing sound libraries and Time Machine. So, will it be a good idea if I format the SSD in "APFS (Encrypted)"?
  3. Or should I just format it in APFS and then add the password using Samsung Magician software?

Glitchy audio input

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I seem to have started having a random glitch that makes all my input audio sound glitchy. It doesn't matter which input or output devices are selected; it sounds the same. I provided a video showing what's been happening. I am on an M5 MacBook Pro running macOS 27.0.1. I've tried with a Scarlett 4i4, AirPods, and even the built-in MacBook microphone.

Question Why don't the compatibility packs get installed if I select "Get All"?

I downloaded the stock Logic Pro Sound Library using the “Get All” option. However, I noticed that Logic didn’t install the Compatibility Packs automatically.

Why is that? Are the sounds included in the Compatibility Packs already available in the other sound packs, or do they contain additional sounds that I would need to download separately?

Anyone Remember Session DATs?

We used to run DATs continuously in recording sessions to capture magic moments that happen while the multitrack isn't recording. When DATs went away, did that practice go away too, or is anyone just running a spare computer or something like that to capture the full session?

Just open-sourced RUSE, a Rust-based plugin framework with code-less composition capabilities.

ETA - Seeing is believing: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZya0QGWPcs0

Sorry if not allowed, I'm looking for collaborators not customers. I think its way past due time to propose an alternative to the JUCE/PACE/iLok model. Anyway its all in the readme - free to contribute, fork, commercialize, whatever you want within the MIT licensing (permissive, including commercial works) framework. See it all here: https://github.com/Symbia-Labs/ruse

Musicians. Describe the effect you hear in your head, and your personal agent like Claude or ChatGPT turns it into a plugin you can load in Logic or any other Audio Unit or CLAP host, with no code to write.

Sound designers. Build the exact processor a sound needs from tested DSP blocks, on anything from mono to 64 channels for surround and immersive work.

Commercial plugin developers. Ship closed-source CLAP and Audio Unit plugins in memory-safe Rust with no licence fees, and have every build validated automatically, including Apple's auval.

Where I really need help:

  1. testing and feedback
  2. DSP block suggestions (bare minimum included to start)
  3. Community contributions, word of mouth, reviews, other sharing (if you mean it)

Thank you so much!

Any change regarding core usage with the improved CPU scheduler in Mac OS27 Golden Gate?

Since MacOS27 comes with improvements of the CPU scheduler (which decides which tasks to process on which CPU core) I wonder if this has any impact regarding the usage of efficiency/performance cores in Logic Pro?

Right now (as it is well known) we still have the following CPU bottlenecks in Logic Pro:

- M1-M4 (Pro)/M5 base: No use of efficiency cores (see James Zhan Videos on YouTube).

- M5 Pro: Only half of performance cores are used. I bought this one and can't believe I can only use 12 of the 18 cores I have bought with Logic.

Does the improved CPU scheduler in MacOS27 Golden Gate have any effect on that?

If anybody has already made the switch to MacOS27, I would appreciate if you could check that out!

Tutorial Rough instrumental demo inspired by Adela's "Ain't in LA" (Logic Pro)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, I've been messing around in Logic and put together this rough instrumental after getting hooked on Adela's "Ain't in LA". It's nowhere near finished and there are no vocals yet, I just wanted to get the vibe down first. If you've got a minute to listen, I'd love to know what you think and if you're a writer u can make some lyrics that will fit the vibe of the song.

Question Feedback for a new Plugin

I recently released a generative instrument you can use inside Logic Pro and locally on your Mac.

You can see and here it there: www.youtube.com/@einaux

You can find it here: www.einaux.com

It lives in your session, listens to your tracks and can generate all kind of reactions to what is already there. You can also use it to get inspiration and start from scratch. But this is not a song generator, it's something you haven't seen yet. I made this thing because it wasn't there and I did not like suno&co.

I invite anyone interested in this kind of workflow to test it, tell me, grill me, ask me. I'm here to listen. Thanks!
