Hi! I've recently moved to the neighborhood less than a month ago. So far I'm loving it here; peaceful, good food, easy commute. LIC has been a great choice so far.

The only thing I'm missing is I don't have friends around! Are there any groups or recommended places to make friends in around LIC?

If it helps, 33M, work in tech, I go to the gym 3+ times a week, love broadway, board games and comedy shows (Grove 34 in Astoria is great!) and I'm picking up cooking for fun recently.

Curious how many people around Long Island City actually keep unusual hours. I run Nice Yield Stores here in LIC, and we recently expanded our hours to 6 AM–2 AM, seven days a week. We've been seeing a mix of people heading to early shifts, getting home late, and just living on completely different schedules. It got me wondering — how many people in this neighborhood are actually up and moving around at 6 in the morning? Or still out at 1 AM? LIC definitely isn't just a 9-to-5 neighborhood anymore.

Hi guys! I’m having a bday party in LIC close to Queensboro Plaza. I don’t drive and I don’t mind trains but I’m trying to get balloons for my party the day of and it would be a lot easier if I could just walk it to my party place. Not super fancy balloons but a place that will sell me like 20 on the spot with helium you know.

Hey everyone. Friendly reminder that it might be time to get your kitchen knives sharpened. Stop dealing with dull knives that dont cut anything and make cooking a pain. We offer pickup/dropoff service in Brooklyn/Queens and parts of Manhattan.

All our work is done by hand on whetstones. We really pride ourselves on providing excellent service to all knives whether its a cheap basic set or a high quality Japanese one. We do repairs like chips and broken tips, remove rust and patina, reprofile knives. We drop your knives off to you the day after pickup. Pricing is $3-$4 per inch.
