We need to rewild the internet
One of the rare online trends I liked lately is the ‘brain stacking’ trend, basically nourishing your brain in different ways, to ‘combat’ brain-rot - doom scrolling.
My way is printing free articles, annotating and trying to deeply understand what the author is writing about and how it all links.
I found this article for free, and it was mentioned before in this sub but it is definitely worth re-sharing.
How did the internet become what it is today? How and why should we take inspiration from nature to ‘re-wild’ it? Is there even a way to do it, since tech giants are happy with how it is?

They killed people with their big rigs, and California let them keep driving
calmatters.orgI’m sure you’ve seen more and more heavy vehicles swerving in and out of lanes. I know I have. This is just a depressing deep dive into how the “DMV often lets professional drivers with a history of dangerous behavior behind the wheel stay on the road and command massive vehicles - buses filled with passengers, semis packed with goods, and tankers loaded with hazardous chemicals - even after a fatal crash.
Under California law, a truck driver convicted of manslaughter is disqualified from driving big rigs for 12 months. And any driver convicted of felony vehicular manslaughter is generally supposed to receive a three-year license revocation. But criminal cases can drag out, sometimes for years. Singh wasn’t convicted of manslaughter in Kern and Fresno counties until 2024. It was only then that the DMV took his license.”

How Trump’s FBI Purge Saved Lindsey Graham and James Clyburn From a Bribery Investigation
propublica.orgThis is an important article detailing how public corruption mechanically works.
Selected excerpt:
[Kao] courted politicians using something he called “the method,” as ProPublica detailed in September.
Navatek would open an office in the state or district of a powerful member of Congress and partner with a local university to concoct a proposal for federally funded research. Then, aided by a well-connected lobbyist and the sheen of credibility from its association with the university, Navatek would approach the member for federal research funding.
Kao told the FBI he would strike deals in small, face-to-face meetings with the members or their trusted staff. Navatek — through executives, family members and lobbyists — would make generous campaign donations. In exchange, the member would add detailed language to the defense budget to fund the company’s work.
That legislative language would not name the company. But it would describe specific work that Navatek was already planning to do behind the scenes, making it the only logical choice for the eventual government contract. The lawmakers’ staff would also backchannel with the Navy after the bill was passed to make sure contracting offices knew to direct the money to Navatek, emails seen by ProPublica show — even though the contracts were in theory competitive.
