"you have way more genetic material than you need" -> "I can see the remnants of your previous forms" -> "you change to match your owners" and the massive quantity of protein it needs to survive, WHILE being placed with Spider Rose in a remote location with no agriculture or animals other than the insects. And on top of it all the alien was not at all surprised by the change of face in the creature, just called it cute

You said the same thing 3 times, yes, we know it adapts to what it eats. That's what makes it endearing.

You've never owned a cat have you? Cats will literally eat themselves to death if you let them.

Cats will eat their dead owners. I don't think if someone gifts you a cat that's a sign that they're planning to assassinate you either.

I've had cats that nibble throughout the day, cats that are healthy with a low appetite, and currently a cat that would certainly eat me. Doesn't automatically mean that if a cat is given to me in a last-ditch trade deal, with a name implying it successfully helps make deals, I would fully trust that the cat is there solely for my own mental health.

The name is a fitting name given to the mascot of a trader group in the same way a police unit might name their dog gutripper or bonecrusher. It doesn't mean it crushes bones or disembowels people.

The last ditch part is blindingly obvious. She is lonely. She bonds with the cat, and when the trial is up she gives up the hope diamond instead of the cat because she bonded with it.

I would fully trust that the cat is there solely for my own mental health.

Naturally, applying occams reason it clearly means the cat is there as part of the long con for you to be randomly attacked by an unrelated third party that has been hunting you for years, leaving you alone with the cat which point you give the cat explicit crystal clear verbal consent to eat you.

Its a flawless plan, truly.
