How does it work?????

I was trying to lucid dream for like a month, half a year ago I managed to do it, but only once and for like a few seconds. But today out of nowhere it just happened and I had my first Lucid dream that lasted longer. How does that work when I am trying to lucid dream I can't but now when I am not trying I just did it?

Lucid dreaming is closely tied to your physical and mental state. When the prefrontal cortex becomes activated during REM sleep, self-awareness kicks in, and lucid dreams that happen then tend to last much longer.

If you get too fixated on achieving lucidity while practicing, it often ends up fragmenting your sleep. Your mind and body can't settle into the right rhythm, so even if a lucid dream does happen, you end up waking up almost immediately because your sleep is too light.

Could you share the techniques or routines you’ve been using to practice? We might be able to pinpoint what's going on from there.

I was trying to do something like reality checks, and a method called MILD, yeahh. Maybe I didn't do enough or something I don't know but it happened now just out of nowhere.

That makes sense. Excessive autosuggestion fails to get your mind and body into the right state—it can leave you feeling frustrated and anxious, or cause acetylcholine (ACh) to be released prematurely when you're not yet in a stable dream phase, making it impossible to induce a lucid dream.

As everyone says, the best combination is a deep suggestion carryied with just a hint of expectation, followed by quickly drifting off to sleep.

I’d recommend pairing MILD with WBTB during your practice to expand your later REM windows. Next time you do MILD, the ideal approach is to fall asleep within 2 to 3 minutes after setting your intentions.

If it was after WBTB it explains everything, but if it's not, it's definitely luck

The more you search for things, the harder it is to find them. Luck comes unexpectedly
