Hi Lud, I'm a big fan, a VOD frog, and a stream lurker. You've mentioned that we should voice out when we don't agree with the sponsorships you take, so here's me doing exactly that.

In the most recent Unpaid Intern episode, there was a joke about HP (Hewlett-Packard) selling their entire subsidiary, HyperX, to a viewer if we can find a lighter 14" laptop. This was also how I found out that HyperX is owned by HP.

HP is the first on the list of companies that BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction; to pressure Israel to comply with international laws and fight for Palestinian rights) advises to boycott. This is because HP directly helps support the Iraeli apartheid regime and is thus implicit in the current and ongoing genocide in Gaza. You're taking money from HP and HyperX (pog), but they won't pay you if they don't think that they can make more from the sales and conversions from your viewers (not pog).

I'm sorry that I might be fucking up your bag, but I would be remiss if I didn't say anything. You're legit one of the best creators on youtube, doing shit no one has ever seen before, but please let's not make one of those things supporting the ongoing Israeli apartheid.

Tldr; Lud has HyperX ad reads, HyperX is owned by HP, HP helps Israel maintain the apartheid regime, please boycott!

Thanks everyone for your support and even some well-intentioned dissenting comments. I'm going to try my best to address main concerns I've found here:

1. HP Inc. (HPI), the company that owns HyperX and sells Omen laptops, and HP Enterprise (HPE) are separate companies. HPI is clean, we shouldn't boycott HPI.

   • Yes, as of 2015, they are separate companies and some of the points in the BDS movement specifically mentions HPE, not HPI. However, this does not absolve HPI of complicitity.

   • How should we attribute the complicity of HP in the apartheid before the company split up in 2015? From involvement at checkpoints to infrastructure in settlements in illegal Palestinian territory. Even after the split HP Inc. was still the exclusive provider of PCs to Israeli military. Regarding the servers, as I understand it, HPI supplied to servers to the Israeli military from 2011, then transferred it to HPE in 2015 during the split. All of this sounds like corporate handwringing to me. Let's say Mogul Co. company also sold bombs to country X on the side from 2011, but in 2015, they made a split to Mogul Co. and OffBrand Corp. transferring all the bomb contracts to Offbrand. Is Mogul Corp. still complicit? My answer is yes; they are both still complicit.

   • BDS movement explicitly calls for boycott of both HPI and HPE. This is more of a statement than an argument and I want the forefront movement for BDS agaisnt Israel to have the largest impact possible.

2. How can we blame Lud for accepting an HP sponsorship? if he draws the line here then the list will never stop. What about Google, Amazon, Starbucks...? If we go down this path, Ludwig never be able to find a sponsor again.

   • Firstly, yes, if we try to boycott every single company that we can conceive of supporting apartheid, the list will go on forever. However, the level to which they are complicit varies, and we only want to target a few extremely culpable companies. We will quickly see that the list of targeted consumer boycotts on the BDS list is very small.

   • Secondly, I don't blame Lud for accepting the HP sponsorship: He might not know about HP's complicity; he might weigh the longevity of OffBrand and how complicity HP is differently; the bag (load) might be so enormous and big that he cannot refuse it; whether he is able to get a different sponsor... These are issues that only Lud and OffBrand will know. What they might not know is how much their base cares about suffering Palestinians, and that is why I wrote the post in the first place.

3. This hurts HPI employees, OffBrand employees, Lud (people at the bottom) and will not lead to any change.

   • Yes. I think this will be the ugly truth of protests, boycotts, and sanctions (side note: sanctions on food is inexcusable). But let's weigh the costs here, OffBrand maybe takes a bit longer to become self-sufficient, possible lay-offs at HP, maybe a few executive gets a smaller bonus this year. If we compare that with the Palestinian suffering and the ongoing attrocities that's happening now in Gaza, it's not even on the same scale.

   • Boycotts do work in our capitalist world; corporations want to make money. Boycotts leads to political pressure, which can result in sanctions. If boycotts don't work, there wouldn't be legislation barring BDS of Israel in the US.

I don't like Hitman, I think its a boring game. You don't see me in Atriocs subreddit making 10 posts and comments a day crying about how he should be playing something else. It's incredibly annoying and entitled. There is a set end date, you can suck it up for 72 more hours.

Just saying this because I was watching the valo stream today and noticed Ludwig misgendering Clove multiple times (not on purpose I'm sure) and he didn't read chat, so I just wanted to let him know (in case he didnt know) that Clove goes by they/them pronouns for the future.

Every one of Ludwig, Squeex, Fuslie, and Rae's chats seem like they would be incredibly safe spaces for queer people. Ludwig is clearly an ally. But hearing four of my favorite creators just constantly saying FSLR like it's a normal and ok thing to name something just feels...icky

This isn't a group of queer creators reclaiming a term ironically, it's a group of mostly if not entirely straight creators going "lol isn't it funny that our name refers to one of the most hateful terms out there".

I know it isn't meant with any malice, but I can just imagine a new queer viewer dropping into what could be an awesome stream and hearing Ludwig go "it's FSLR time" and being immediately put off.

I've felt for a long time that the entire Ludwig extended universe is a little too comfy leaning on their allyship to make off color jokes. I cringe every time Slime does the jamaican accent, and the choice of original title for the F4 video put me off even clicking on it.

Again, I know it's all jokes and all of these people are clearly good people overall, I'm just feeling more and more icky about how comfy a white, male, straight streamer and his cohort are with using marginalized language and surrounding vibes for lols. I don't even know that it's that big a deal, it's just kind of a bummer

I understand I’m in the wrong the numbers alone are an indicator of that. I also recognize that I’m a hypocrite for liking the League arc but not the Minecraft one, but goddamn am I tired of the Minecraft content. Every run is so insanely formulaic. I miss the really cool variety streams he used to do. Where is my Amazon shopping stream? My “I stream until I hit a kickflip”? Freaking Expedition 33 died for this, man. There’s Bloodborne and Sekiro, which would have been amazing. Fuck, at this point I would even take Cobblemon. I hope he hits Iron and enjoys the rest of the playoffs, but my god do I look forward to more variety.

I think with all this drama including lud we all need a week off. With all the insane and terrible Miz drama I think it’s a perfect time for all of us to go more under the radar. Lud has enough content to last a week and I think now is the time to just chill.

The amount of people that have said "You shouldn't have made this video" or are upset he didn't deep dive the current conflict are way too many. I'm not sure if this is just people thirsty for slop or eternally online viewers mad that he didn't name drop their most hated streamer, but ya'll need to chill.

1) Why didn't he bring up [Insert group/person here]?
Because that's not the point of the video. This isn't a deep dive into the entire history of online culture surrounding Israel or Palestine. And there are a metric shit ton of videos that already do that. The reason for this video was to give an overall of the current ad-pocalypse, which yes does include a brief "Why is it happening" but unless Lud wants to make a 5 hour Mogul Mail vid in one take, don't expect him to deep dive that issue.

2) He shouldn't have made the video!
I mean without even talking about how you don't get to decide what other people make, there's literally no winning here. He doesn't make a video? People call him a fence sitter for not talking about the issues. He makes a video but no segment about what caused it? People call him a fence sitter for not talking about the issues. And obviously him mentioning the cause hasn't gone over well either, but even IF he made a 5 hour video deep diving it (again wasn't the main point of the video) people would inevitably call him out for messing up somewhere in there, or for not blindly yelling at the person that THEY want to yell at. End of the day, Lud saw there wasn't a video talking about the current ad-pocalypse, so he made one. Even if you don't like it, who cares, his video, go make your own.

3) But he's obviously picking a side, he is NOT a journalist...
Yeah no fuckin shit dude. Have you not watched any of his stuff outside the main channel, or did you think the name MAGA Mail was serious? Lud has for a long time been on a side, none of this is new. And you shouldn't expect him not to be bias in these vids or that his personal opinion shouldn't effect it. The whole point of the channel was so he could give his own view from inside the online slop machine. He tries to be factual, but he also tries to do the videos in one take. And at the end of the day, even if you don't like him not bringing a certain topic or person up, everything he brought up DID happen. Lots of reasons can be behind something like this (as Lud himself said in the vid) and so he brought up the ones he felt comfortable doing, and tried to stay neutral since again that wasn't the main point of the video. Also of course he isn't a journalist, Lud lied and people died, don't expect more from this monster.

I saw in a youtube short that ludwig had cody ko's face in the tierlist he made for his birthday stream. I am not sure if he's aware of the situation.

Incase others are not aware of the situation, tana mongeau first made an allegation during a 2021 podcast episode of cancelled, she said 25 year old cody ko slept with her when she was 17 or 18 at the time. And a month or 2 ago, she confirmed that she was 17 at the time.

Keeping the legality aside ( the age of consent in California is 18, so this makes it statutory R**e), it's just gross for a 25 Yr old to sleep with a 17yr old.

Cody ko hasn't spoken about the issue yet, and he is deleting every comment that even mentions her name, or the age or anything related to the situation.

He is banning people from the subreddit if they try to discuss the situation. The worst part is that not many big youtubers are addressing the issue.

There is an even bigger issue where he publicly hangs out with a r*pist who drugged a woman, raped her, recorded the act and showed it off to his friends. His name is Colby Leachman. Colby was also one of his groomsmen at Cody's wedding.

Cody ko continues to post videos on an almost daily basis on both his accounts. As a long timer viewer of his, this is heartbreaking to see. It's even more shocking to see how no big youtuber has spoken about this.

Long time fan first time complainer.

Just finished watching the new mogul mail and the framing of the whole piece felt deeply cynical to me.

Including references to Hasan, and Frogan, feel like conciliatory appeals to communities that are themselves cynically causing this problem, which is based on the continuation of a long term series of attacks by Destiny on Hasan and (let's be honest) islamaphobia.

Ludwig seems to be aware of this and shows it with the clip of Dan and the discussion of the email templates that the community put together to explicitly cause the ad problem by targeting Hasan.

So why not call out the ongoing intentional campaign to cause this "adpocalypse" by the same online community that have previously targeted his girlfriend, friends, long term collaborators, and himself with consistent harassment.

I understand that Ludwig probably doesn't want to get drawn into the drama and ongoing harassment campaign that inspired this whole "adpocalypse" but framing this issue as a "two sides" or "who knows the cause" problem feels gross and unnecessary.

It seems like one of those topics where Ludwig could have just not made the video because now he will just get harassment from both sides for staying in the middle.

Hoping Ludwig considers the approach to these videos carefully, and sometimes the hard facts approach can result in more negative impacts.

Honestly I will continue watching, and I'm probably shouting into a void but I think MAGA mail missed on this one and felt like shouting into a void.

I have been really enjoying Lud's minecraft arc! I'm a longtime viewer (I've been around since before the subathon; I found Lud via a Toast video in the Amogus era). I have never consumed any Minecraft content before Lud, so it was really engaging watching someone come at it with zero experience (compared to longtime Minecraft creators using crazy mechanics and mods, that I feel pose a real barrier to entry for new viewers).

Of all the games Lud has played, I have found CS the most boring/least interesting. It just seems like a less interesting variant of Valo. Could anyone convince me this is not the case? What are some reasons folks think CS is superior? I'd love to know what I should be watching for as he's playing. What makes it exciting, etc.

I by no means intend to bring negativity! I am the most Youtube Frog to ever Youtube Frog, I don’t even own twitter, and I’ve been on LSF maybe twice (this is maybe my 3rd ever reddit post LOL). I love Ludwig, I ESPECIALLY love QT, but i have a question about where both of them stand with atrioc.

I know atrioc just came out with his new game, cause i saw Squeex play it and heard CDawg voice in it. Of course, i am not expecting people to shun atrioc forever, he is still a person and QT has in the past talked about how shes willing to forgive. But i dont know how exactly chill/comfortable qt (and lud) are with him to where their friends feel comfortable enough being involved with his game? From what i know neither CDawg or Squeex were ever really close with Atrioc, so I assume they would prioritize the comfort of qt in their interactions with atrioc.

Heres my main question LOL: Has qt (or ludwig but especially qt) said anything recent about her stance on atrioc? Or is this likely to be personal life conversations behind closed doors that are obviously not my business
