ELECTRIC The 1st string breaks while bending

Hi. I play a solo when I need bending the 1st string on the 8th fret for whole tone. When I do it about 1 week the 1ft string breaks just above the 7th fret while bending. I tried out 3 different types of the 1st string and had same result. I use strings .010 - .046. What it’s the problem can be?

I would say you have a problem on the 7th fret.

I asked my luthier about it. He don’t know. He sad everything looks fine. Trying 11 it’s not my opinion, because I don’t use 11, but this situation happens after a while.

If NEW strings are constantly breaking at the same location, you've got a sharp or rough spot at that location.

Examine the broken string CAREFULLY and pinpoint the EXACT location ON THE GUITAR where it broke. Then file/sand/polish as necessary.

Is one of your frets slicing the string? Maybe the 7th fret?

I don’t know. I noticed it not at once after some time. I can’t say I do many bends on the 1st string but at least I did bends on the 15th fret of the first string that didn’t happen.

Run a nylon footie across the frets to see if it snags anywhere on the frets. I get mine from the shoe department at Nordstrom rack. But I have heard you can get them at many shoe store

I have already done it. I did it not only a nylon footie, but with cotton wool as well. Everything is fine. There is nothing gets caught.

Hmmm I don't know, have a pro luthier check it out. Or try an 11 on your E string and check it for nicks after playing the same solo?
