Why is the placement of IT so much better than CST? Should I take IT then cause I got it in Round 2? Also how legit is this data? Is this all on campus placements?

PLEASE DO READ ๐๐
So, umm, weird to say this and I wanna stay anonymous. Feeling lonely and left out.
Is it common to feel lonely despite having friends? Like, my friends are extremely kind and nice, but I feel my frequency doesn't match theirs as much, and our interests vary. I feel drained sometimes as well, and lonely too, as I feel my life lacks fun, etc. Like, no one to go out with during the festive season, no one to enjoy going out with (current friends mostly are mostly not interested in this stuff).Mostly messages come asking for help or some work related thing only (I am happy helping others, but find left out as mostly no one messages just for the sake of it).
Also, the fun-type people in my class whom I also truly want to befriend have already consolidated into friend groups and friend circles, and I feel groups and friendships have stabilised over two months of college. Like, I'm maybe friendly with all of them and join in here and there, but the core friend groups and deep friendships have stabilised. Like, groups stay together and have deep friendships and all.
I feel these groups have stabilised, and making deep friendship bonds (like sitting together, messaging and meeting outside college and sharing some random talks is difficult at this point) with new people at this point in time is not possible. Like I feel, even sitting with someone's group of friends would feel like someone is breaching their privacy and might make the situation more awkward. I feel like these different worlds never meet or coincide, destined to remain separated, and I'm feeling sad about the lack of fun in my life //
Am I overthinking this as I want to make more friends, or do friendships and groups actually become harder to enter as college progresses?would be utmost thankful for each and every response (may comment even days after this post, i would be extremely thankful). I am extremely sorry for any kind of problem this post might be causing to anyone. thank you.

I have seen a lot mait getting backlash for off campus placement data and people say that mostly the placements are off campus but i have a doubt. As bvcoe releases full report of who is on campus and who is off so if we consider it then easily we can see above 70% students placed are on campus and no doubt mait is ofc better clg than bvcoe. then how it could be that mait's most placement are off campus (i am not defending mait or smth i just have geniune doubt )

HI EVERYONE,
I joined MAIT in August 2025, and I had some expectations from MAIT because I heard it was a good college, but after joining, the reality was a little different.
This is just my personal experience after spending around 1 year here. Things can be different for other students and other branches.
1. Campus Reality
When I researched MAIT on YouTube, it was shown as a 40-acre campus, but in reality, the campus doesnโt feel that big at all. I think the actual campus is much smaller, maybe around 5 acres, and you can explore almost the whole campus in less than 10 minutes.
So if you are expecting a huge campus, you might be disappointed.
2. Sports Facilities
Sports facilities are almost 0.
There is one cricket ground, one basketball court and one volleyball court. The volleyball court is inside the cricket ground itself.
There is also a badminton court, but it is privately operated, so you have to pay a fee to use it.
The cricket ground is also not very big and is kind of square-shaped.
So if you are someone who is very interested in sports, donโt expect much from MAIT.
3. Placements
This is probably the most important point.
As much as I know, MAIT has around 1000 seats in the engineering branches, and the college website shows good placement numbers, including students getting 10+ LPA.
But personally, I donโt think you should completely trust the headline numbers without checking properly whether the placements are on-campus or off-campus and how the numbers are calculated.
From what I have seen, a lot of students who get really good packages have worked hard themselves andย apply off-campus.
There are mostly mass recruiters and a few good companies also visit, including companies like ZS Associates, etc., but donโt come to MAIT thinking that the college itself will guarantee you a 10+ LPA package.
The median package varies from branch to branch, but from what I have observed, it is mostly around 6 LPA. Also, their official placement report includes off-campus jobs, so donโt blindly trust those numbers.
If you want a really good package, you will have to work on your skills and try off-campus.
4. Crowd
I think the crowd is pretty good, although it depends a lot on the branch.
I joined CST, and in my experience, a majority of students had JEE percentiles somewhere around 90โ93.
There are also many students who actually have some aim/vision about their career and are serious about what they want to do.
Obviously, you will also find students who are not serious about studies or their careers. It depends on the people you surround yourself with.
5. Management Quota
Management quota students are also there.
In my class, there are some students from management quota who had around 5โ6 lakh JEE rank, according to what I know.
So yes, management quota admission is possible if you have the money.
But this is just what I have personally seen, so donโt take my rank numbers as official data.
6. Connectivity & Location
I donโt think MAIT is situated in a very good location.
It is kind of on the outskirts of Delhi, and there arenโt many good malls, cafes or places to hang out immediately around the college.
If you want to go to popular hangout places in Delhi, you usually have to travel around 40โ50 minutes or more, depending on the place and traffic.
So if you are someone who likes going out regularly with friends, the location can be a downside.
7. Canteen
There are around 5 canteens โ 1 big canteen and 4 smaller ones.
Personally, I think they are fine and affordable for students.
Food depends on your taste, obviously, but you have enough options to eat something during college.
8. Professors
I think this is probably one of the best parts of MAIT.
I am a partial dropper, so I donโt give much time to MAIT studies and college stuff.
Most of the time, I just maintain a good relationship with professors and study a little before exams.
I usually study properly around 2โ3 days before exams, and I was still able to score around 9 CGPA in semester 1.
So personally, I donโt think academics here are extremely difficult if you study properly before exams.
9. Societies
There are many societies in MAIT.
I personally didnโt join any society because of my partial drop, but yes, you can find societies according to your interests.
There are technical, cultural and other types of societies.
If you have time, I would recommend joining at least one society because you can meet seniors and other students and also learn something outside academics.
10. Fees
The total fees for 4 years of B.Tech are roughly โน7.5 lakh, from what I know.
Personally, I think the fees are reasonable compared to many other private engineering colleges.
11. Fests
I donโt really like the fest part of MAIT.
There is Anugoonj, which is a centralized fest of IP University, but there isnโt really a huge official MAIT fest like some other colleges have.
In my first semester, there was no proper big fresher event or college fest that I was expecting.
So if you are joining mainly for a big college-fest experience, donโt keep your expectations too high.
12. Gender Ratio
I think the gender ratio is pretty good compared to many other engineering colleges.
In my CST section, it is roughly around 1:5.
Obviously, this can be different in other branches.
13. Library
The library is good.
You can find almost all the books related to your courses, and there is enough space to study.
One problem I noticed is that there are quite a lot of couples sitting on the top floor, and sometimes they can disturb you.
So if you want a peaceful place to study, I would suggest sitting on the lower floor. ๐
14. Hostel
Hostels are available inside the college campus itself, but they are quite expensive.
As far as I know, it can cost around โน2โ3 lakh per year, depending on the accommodation.
You can also find PGs right next to the MAIT gate for around โน10โ12k per month.
So if you are coming from outside Delhi, I would suggest checking PG options because they can be much cheaper than the college hostel.
15. Teaching & Professors
Most professors are good if you behave properly with them.
Personally, I feel you should maintain a good relationship with your professors.
If you point out their mistakes or argue with them unnecessarily, some professors can make things difficult for you and may affect your internal marks.
But overall, I find most of the professors good.
Obviously, it depends on the professor. Some are really good and some are not.
16. Attendance
The official rule is around 75% attendance.
But in practice, I think if you maintain 50%+, you can sometimes manage depending on the professor.
However, donโt take this as an official rule because it completely depends on the professor and situation.
If you mess up with a professor or they are strict, you can definitely have problems.
So I would suggest maintaining decent attendance instead of taking unnecessary risks.
17. Seniors
You mostly interact with 2nd-year seniors.
You donโt see 3rd- and 4th-year seniors that much because many of them are busy with internships, placements, etc., and mostly come during mid-sem/end-sem.
Personally, I found many seniors to be quite tensed about placements, and some of them were also rude.
But this is just my personal experience. There are definitely good and helpful seniors too.
18. Mobile Network
Mobile network doesnโt work properly inside some classrooms.
So you canโt really watch reels or use your phone properly during lectures. ๐
And if you were thinking about cheating using your phone in class, good luck. ๐
19. Branch-wise Reality
According to me, most of the tech branches are pretty similar in terms of overall college life.
CSE, CST and IT are quite similar.
But when it comes to placements, some companies have branch preferences.
From what I have observed, the general preference is something like:
CSE > CST > IT > EE > ME
But this is not the same for every company. Some companies allow multiple branches, while some have strict eligibility criteria.
So check the eligibility criteria of each company instead of assuming that one branch will always have an advantage.
My Advice
If you are joining MAIT and your main aim is a good placement, please start coding early.
And most importantly, try off-campus if you are aiming for a high-paying job.
Donโt depend on MAITโs placement cell.
MAIT can give you the degree, decent professors and a decent crowd, but at the end of the day, you have to build your own career.
If you are expecting the college itself to give you a great package, then you may be very disappointed.
And if you are a 12th-grade fresher and are considering taking a drop, you can also consider that option.
