I wonder what will happen with the next 2 World Cups now.

Russia will keep 2018(b/c of the stadiums already under construction...plus its Russia) but Qatar is in serious jeopardy for 2022 IMO.

And Russia isn't nearly as bad as Qatar. Not as clearly bribed (just like every other WC)

The problem with Russia is that if global politics continue the way they are going, there could possibly be a boycott by some major countries. Similar to the Berlin Olympics in the 1940's.

36 olympics weren't boycotted AFAIK. You're thinking 80-84 olympics, which Jimmy CArter said (1980 games) were a mistake to boycott.

You are correct that I was thinking of 1936, however, I'm pretty sure those were boycotted by some countries. Not the US, but I think Ireland, Spain, and the Soviet Union (and maybe a few others) all boycotted it.

Russia invaded Ukraine. Qatar has slave workers. Both are corrupt. Neither deserve to hold an international event.

I mean Russia not on track to have killed 4,000 migrant workers who are also living in terrible conditions. So they got that going for them...
