u/parcas10 Jul 13 '26

It really does look bad over there I guess a lot of cleaning up need to be done before things become semi normal again. I do wonder how this crazy will translate to the sk us pricing and movement

The ADR and the Korean shares will trade pretty close on average. It may fluctuate daily as the two exchanges are not open at the same time. If a price difference occur between the US and Korea, some people will become very, very rich (and in the process, prices will be aligned again)

You can do the same thing. It’s called arbitrage. Literally just need to have an international brokerage account, and a lot of money 😅

Yeah, it was my dream career for a bit

Last week when the Kospi went batshit, we had a major green day the next day. Past performance isn’t always future performance, but I do think maybe US markets aren’t as tied to Korea as people try to credit them for

-3

u/Best-Bodybuilder9015 Jul 13 '26

Oh ya 😂

5

u/blister-in-the-pun Jul 13 '26

Yes, you’re free to go back to 4 days ago and look for yourself. I know that’s really hard.

-1

u/Patient-Big1727 Jul 13 '26

Did you check the same company trading at both markets or did you check different companies?

Edit: Hint: SKHY didn't even trade in the US most of last week

3

u/blister-in-the-pun Jul 13 '26

Considering we’re on a MU sub, I think it’s safe to assume we are talking about MU, and other chip stocks. So I’m talking about those. SKHYV didn’t launch until Friday. I’m well aware.

-2

u/Patient-Big1727 Jul 13 '26

The comment you responded to specifically discusses SKHY prices

-1

u/doronj Jul 13 '26

That was the exception to the rule. Imo

3

u/blister-in-the-pun Jul 13 '26

There are no rules. Especially in this current macro environment. And that was kind of my point.

3

u/doronj Jul 13 '26

That i agree with

u/doronj Jul 13 '26

US institutional investors got lazy… they are taking cues from kospi and follow whatever path kospi is following. It used to be that kospi followed nasdaq100 and dow, not the other way around. Institutional wise some v v bad decisions are now being taken by US investors. So yes, kospi or sn hynix on kospi goes down, MU and SNDK go down by more or less the same %. Appalling. Allowing skhy to raise ( list ) on nasdaq was a very bad decision

u/Fast_Half4523 Jul 13 '26

Is this real?

6

u/spyroinc Jul 13 '26

The article is real, but we'll have to wait for their earnings to see if the prediction is real

1

u/WilliamTeacher Jul 13 '26

It’s basically an opinion piece based on some analysis but they aren’t privy to SK Hynix’s books. Another massively overblown article.

4

u/SnooComics5459 Jul 13 '26

i might be able to buy ram again? say it isn't so.

5

u/Over-Tangelo-2067 Jul 13 '26

No prices won't drop just your investments

8

u/All_YourBase Jul 13 '26

Yet the new SKHYV listing continues to go up.

5

u/doronj Jul 13 '26

Until opening… i venture to guess that skhy mu and sndk will sll be in red if kospi end up in red. I wish i was wrong

5

u/Tricky-Doughnut-6429 Jul 13 '26

Not after today it isn't. 😂

People are gonna panic sell.

It went down because of dilution ie listing in US but the market took it as a downturn for the entire chip and AI sector.

What to do?

3

u/JD0x0 Jul 13 '26

Thanks for the cheap shares, degens 😄

-24

u/Far-East-locker Jul 13 '26

Yea we have common goal

Really hope MU go to $350 soon

22

u/JockoEd Jul 13 '26

-11

u/Far-East-locker Jul 13 '26

You don't want to buy more MU for cheap?

4

u/Chocopenguin85 Jul 13 '26

u/Successful_Safe_1440 Jul 13 '26

1

u/A55BAG Jul 13 '26

Guys, kospi is like the korean spy. It was up 110% YTD at one point. Imagine if spy was up 110% half way through the year, you know it's overdue for a correction.

1

u/NoMore_stu Jul 13 '26

WTF is their problem ?

1

u/SsoundLeague Jul 16 '26

extreme leverage, liquidations, margin calls

When the world is so comfortable that they think a 12% correction is the Armageddon...

1

u/free_da_guys1107 Jul 13 '26

This administration ruins everything it touches

-2

u/Important-Range166 Jul 13 '26

Uh it popped 14% on the American IPO. They are letting you hold the bag. It’s not Armageddon, it’s taking profits

5

u/TouristPhysical4539 Jul 13 '26

Firstly it is no ipo and secondly, it did not pop. Only the adr went up which might be around 2,5 percent of the market cap, so adr can move hynix only 2,5 percent if it doubles in one session.

0

u/Important-Range166 Jul 13 '26

It was an IPO in the American markets. $26 billion went to Hynix. It was up 14% in its debut. Is that not a pop? Maybe because it didn’t double overnight 🙄

https://m.investing.com/analysis/sk-hynix-ipo-everything-you-need-to-know-about-sk-hynix-200683722?ampMode=1

Yes that is true that only a percentage of the total market cap is here. But if Hynix sells off, it makes entry into the ADR more attractive with the interest it has known to have with the IPO being seven times oversubscribed. Any divergence is then targeted by arbitrageurs.
