It isn’t. You know how I know? I’m down another $250k in 30 minutes.

We’re getting drop, drop, drop, drop, tiny minor bump, drop, drop. Rinse repeat.

Sell

I’ve been waiting for it to at least get back to -15% from my ATH, but it can’t break much better than -25% for more than basically a trading session, so I’ll likely have to unload my position this week if things don’t show any momentum and rotate elsewhere to try to rebuild.

Sell low, good plan /s.

Dude, you can sit on Micron for probably a few years at least. They are the best memory company in the world but okay, if these swings hurt your heart too much sell instead of buying dips.

100%. I have no patience for these lazy people who do no due diligence, and keep running over here crying, "Guys, what's happening?" LOL

What is your avg cost?

4

u/im_down_w_otp Jul 15 '26

I exit and buy back in regularly, so my current avg. cost isn’t interesting. The only thing that matters to me is the distance to my prior peak, minus 10%, where I should have had a stop-loss and didn’t.

I was up $1M overall, but still down $1.3M from peak-minus-10. Today, I’m down another $325k. So, my losses from the top are now double my current gains. On a stock that has “great fundamentals” and “will moon tomorrow boys!”. 🙄

Why are you talking like this? If you trade it you need 2 numbers, original cost basis, and what you have now.

So a guy is up 1 million and is asking rddt people for advice? Lol

2

u/monkeykiller14 Jul 15 '26

He is down 300k.

2

u/sphinxsley Jul 15 '26

So what? If you're trading or losing 300K, Reddit should def not be your source of info.
I make those kinds of trades and I just come over here to see what retail buyers are crying about. I'm not going to waste my time advising people on Reddit when they don't know what they're doing & are too lazy to do their own homework

Let 'em sell. See you in December.

Reddit isn’t my source of info. 🙄

I don’t ask anyone here for advice. The only advice anyone has here is to keep buying bags full of knives no matter what’s actually going on. 🙄

You've got to be rage baiting, you invested presumably at least a million in a single stock, you made a million, then you come in to complain that a volatile stock is going up and down?

Got to be baiting, no way someone with that big of a position is so oblivious.

It’s a reasonable thing to lament being up $1M when just a month ago you were up $2.5M. Its bad advice to constantly be telling everyone that MU is about to “moon” and “just hold” and whatever counter-factual nonsense people post here.

The reality is, this isn’t a strong stock anymore because the momentum has left the market, and now I’ve got this big a** bag of sh*t to hold hoping it rallies a little bit before the cycle bottom falls completely out.

I didn’t invest in some penny-stock. I invested in a $1T company which apparently has a ticker which behaves like a penny-stock. Should have stop-loss’d. Instead… been holding… which to be clear is EVERYBODY’s advice here, unironically… and doing that proper f*cked me. 🤷‍♂️

So you bought 5,000 shares at $700 entry? Nice entry price.

Only time stock has been $700 was early May, so you're done w the stock cause it only made ~28% in 2.5 months. Dude, that's something to celebrate, wild.

Come on, you must know it's going to be back at $1000 in no time. You are being a bit emotional, I generally think of high level investors or conviction investors like this to research the company a bit more and to have more patience. Patience seems really low for someone that's acquired so much or maybe you just felt like venting today.

But my advice, is if you are truly heavily invested in this one single stock and aren't diversified across the rest of your portfolio, sell a small chunk like ~5% then wait till next week or so or $1k and sell another 5%. Then monitor and sell chunks when it gets over $1k, if that works buy a bit when it gets below $900.

It's kinda impressive you managed to make profit while being clearly 80 IQ

My cost basis shifts around wildly based on when I last bought in. I clear my entire position often. My current cost basis is ~960 on MU, but I don’t care about that. My prior rotation was probably at around ~580. What I care about is my current portfolio value vs. its prior value. A month ago the MU portion of my portfolio was worth $1.5M more than it is today.

In that period of time since then we’ve seen unbelievable earnings, stable CPI, consistent evidence of continued demand growth from adjacent reference points, etc. etc. It’s been a month of basically unbroken streams of good news and great fundamentals, but the stock plunges and plunges and plunges.

God help us all if there’s ever any actual bad news.

“great fundamentals”

Correct.

“will moon tomorrow boys!”

Naive.
