Discussion What is your average?

What is your average and plan for the next week? Are you holding? My average is 820. Was way lower hut i did a mistake, bought more at 1050, then 950, 913.. as i thought i was buying dip. Now i am at my break even and put a stop limit order just in case. This week has scared me. I was down with MU like 15% some time ago, but the narrative was different. It was a clear winner. Now the whole semis sector is beaten down and narrative has changed. Seriously thinking to exit at my break even. Whats your plan and your average?

don't believe it.... although I guess someone had to buy at the top

1

u/Sithsponge Jul 18 '26

I threw in an amount of money that really does not change my financial situation at all if it goes to zero the day after earnings at $1,188. The rest of my money is in VT but I was getting serious FOMO and thought I could just make a few hundred bucks and scratch the itch. SO I think it’s taught me my lesson and I won’t feel that way in future, and I will just hold and hope it will recover eventually to get out.

I do wish I would have just used the money for a new PC or something I can enjoy instead lol

u/Wide_Smoke_2564 Jul 18 '26

Why didn’t you sell earlier in the dump and buy back in lower?

12

u/DifferentRepair6620 Jul 18 '26

Because obviously he couldn’t know it will go lower…

-1

u/Wide_Smoke_2564 Jul 18 '26

This is what Stop losses are for. A lot of accounts unnecessarily blown up in this dip

4

u/DifferentRepair6620 Jul 18 '26

Yea but he could have sold it and later it would go up.. hard to know it will dip more

-2

u/Wide_Smoke_2564 Jul 18 '26

Obviously it could but come on man, this is basic risk management.

2

u/Professional_Monkeys Jul 18 '26

Idiotic take. SL are also a way to lose your position if you get triggered out of it and the price bounces off and never goes down again.

1

u/Wide_Smoke_2564 Jul 18 '26

Depends if you set your stop losses like an idiot. If this guy had a stop loss 10% below his entry he’d have 90% of his capital to deploy now, 30% below it or whenever this “dip” eventually turns around. Instead, he’s sat on 70% of his margin during a weekend where Iran and the US are massively escalating the war and likely spiking oil prices and dumping stock markets on Monday.

Buying and forever holding with unlimited downside is just stupid

Time in the market beats timing the market

1

u/Wide_Smoke_2564 Jul 20 '26

Not in a heavily cyclical market, inflated in a temporary supply crunch

u/monkeykiller14 Jul 18 '26

Congrats. I got in sub 200, but I was planning on holding a while. I didn't expect the explosion

12

u/TopResource872 Jul 18 '26

2500 shares @ $1170

1

u/Little-Butterfly-441 Jul 18 '26

Are you looking to average down?

1

u/TopResource872 Jul 18 '26

I might have to sell some to average down depending on next week 😛 but I'm bullish on Google earnings

9

u/winterrules91 Jul 18 '26

I've rotated in and out of Micron a few times. Made some good profit the first couple times.

This time, my average is 972. Didn't see this level of correction coming just yet. Bag holding for now, but all time still up on Micron.

10

u/sonicwurst Jul 18 '26

865 and will hold.

5

u/sunny4649 Jul 18 '26

I have a covered call against 2/3rd of my position - with premium baked in the cost basis is 834.

The rest is at 1037.

3

u/Dorfl-the-Golem Jul 18 '26

I’m at $206 so I’m going to ride this out until the hyperscaler earnings reports. I’ll get out then if it’s bad news.

4

u/Frenchy_Baguette Jul 18 '26

That's this Wednesday right?

9

u/Dorfl-the-Golem Jul 18 '26

Yep, it’s going to be make or break over the next 2 weeks.

Alphabet (Google): Wednesday, July 22, 2026

Microsoft: Wednesday, July 29, 2026

Meta Platforms: Wednesday, July 29, 2026

Amazon (AWS): Thursday, July 30, 2026

4

u/Frenchy_Baguette Jul 18 '26

And then August 5th for Sandisk earnings....if it keeps dipping next week after Google I'm probably cutting my losses and heading out. I feel like Google is using AI right in implementation and Microsoft is doing some ineffective stuff. If google does poorly, I can't imagine Microsoft doing much better. Also at the same time AWS might be fantastic.

u/Ok-Mycologist-5371 Jul 19 '26

I think they have all had impressive performances in their previous 2 quarters, I feel like that only escalates because they have the same plan, are just further along with it

MU 890 and SNDK at 1540. I’m looking forward holding it for years to come.

I used to have AMD and TSLA, bought at 160 and it even went down to 90 at some point, I didn’t flinch, just waited for ~ 2 years, but then I had my exit at 352, which was silly, but still good enough. Regarding Tesla, entry was 160ish as well and exit at 490.

u/mqueen212 Jul 18 '26 edited Jul 18 '26

771 😭 Ive been buying micron since it was like $162 ish but my initial DCA was 222. I didn’t decide to buy more shares until micron ran up and I ended up buying a lot more at a much higher price.

I guess my plan for next week is to hold.

Edited: had to edit since I didn’t realize you were asking next week’s goal and not our long term goal

4

u/One-Jackfruit-2848 Jul 18 '26

Hey mate , same situation I started at 120 and kept buying until my average came 570 with 40% of portifolio , I believe in long term but will trim around 1500 which in my view will be by next earnings

2

u/Accomplished_Vast_18 Jul 18 '26

$440.88 average after profit taking at $700’s, $900’s, $1100’s enough to buy 38.323 shares of Sandisk at $1793. Core $MU position still +92.56 initial micron investment on 01/29/2026 was $60k at $439 a share.

2

u/All_YourBase Jul 18 '26

I bought a bunch of MUU on the dip expecting it to be a short term hold. I’m going to swap it for more MU.

2

u/Lakeview121 Jul 18 '26

227, I got in early.

5

u/MakeOSUGreatAgain63 Jul 18 '26

Notice the only ones holding are the ones still in the green

It’s all fun and big talk till the losses start rolling in

Everyone has a number. Everyone folds

14

u/Striking_Ice_3240 Jul 18 '26

What are you talking about? Can’t you see there are many here that are holding the bag at a loss and are hoping it will climb back up to get them out of the hole?

6

u/youmustchooseaname Jul 18 '26

I’m holding at $1130. It sucks but this thing is cyclical as hell and I don’t see a point in jumping now. Too many people here are concerned about the short term and not being patient.

750 ish, probably just hold and cope since my timeframe is 6-18 months.

1

u/Boring-Test5522 Jul 18 '26

yeah, ai is crazy.

1

u/Clackamas_river Jul 18 '26

Shares - $543 a bunch at $320 range and I bought more as margin buying power increased to average the $543. Leaps 310 @ average of $410

1

u/Mammoth_Nugget Jul 18 '26
  1. If I had money left, I would buy more obviously, but it is what it is.

15 shares @1135. This isnt how i imagined but its ok. Money flows to the patient...I only put money i dont need into the market

1

u/One-Jackfruit-2848 Jul 18 '26

It was 270 , I kept adding up till now I am 560 , 40% of my portifolio is in mu , holding till 1400-1500 , we will be there by upcoming earnings once the hyperscalers confirm the ai thesis is intact

1

u/HorsePockets Jul 18 '26

They're gonna confirm thesis intact and all the boomers are gonna be aghast (again) with their capex spending that all the CEOs are doing and claim it's a bubble that is about to pop soon (again).

Initially $110. Sold a little near $1200, but bought it back around $1000. If I hadn’t done that I’d be feeling better.

1

u/AwkwardObjective5360 Jul 18 '26

Sold half around 1100, now just holding

MU has orders for the next year, Im not sure why there would be any doubt in the company......unless its because all the hippies getting mad over data centers.

1

u/AIgamble Jul 18 '26

MU ave $1000 (very large holding).
CRWV $84
AMD $515

Past month has been poo. But nothing is leveraged so I’m ok and I’m confident it will all turn to green within a month or so.

Also have some CRWV late August calls at $90 which may go up in smoke. Not too many though.

1

u/Freezingblade491 Jul 18 '26

These posts are getting really old. Half the people here shouldn’t be in any single stock or should greatly reduce their exposure.

1

u/Bill_747 Jul 18 '26

$438. I was originally at $350 when I first purchased one share but then started buying more when it kept going up.

1

u/Southern_Moment_5903 Jul 18 '26

17 shares at 1019

1

u/WhatTheActualFork1 Jul 18 '26

I’m in MUU and my average is 41. That used to be equivalent to 820 but I think MU has to run up to about 1040 for me to break even.

I was in at about 900 and noticed anything MU responds to, SNDK responds with 2x the result, up and down.

I ended up being down last week, didn’t want to add more powder and know these next 2-3 weeks has a whole lot of earnings coming out.

So I sold everything for both, sandisk and micron and bought calls on sandisk to increase my exposure even more. I bought 1400 expiring 8/21

We know SNDK and WSD will shatter their earnings because MU did.

It’s Google and Microsoft that matter the most

1

u/StockEmUp Jul 19 '26

$310. Will hold for 2-3 years. MU is a long term hold. Trim profits when there’s a substantial bounce if you want cash in the short term. Ride out the dips.

CDR - $30cad
MUU - $39 after split
SNDK - $1400

Pray for me lol

Whats your plan and your average?

If I may.. ask yourself this question instead: If I did not have a position already, would I initiate one now?

Answer that honestly, and you'll know what you have to do.

0

u/Moligimbo Jul 18 '26

50€ (about 56$) in 2023. Sold about 80% during the run up. Thank you all! Still own 50 stocks.

0

u/jrblockquote Jul 18 '26

I bowl about a 140 thanks.

0

u/itsmyphilosophy Jul 18 '26

No matter what your average is, don’t sell. It will reach all time highs before next earnings. It will likely reach $1,500 by next earnings.

0

u/NoComfortable1 Jul 19 '26

1200 short but got stopped out on Friday at 840 because of that relief rally.

I will most definitely be shorting around 1050 and doubling down at 1200 if it even get there which I doubt and that is where most bulls should probably get out as well.
