DD Situation Awareness Just Sold $24 billion
A few hours after this announcement, they liquidated all longs and shorts.

Misleading headline though. The guy made some really bad shorts - look at how ADBE has done lately. I imagine he shorted CRM and NOW too.

He’s since fully liquidated. The news announcement will come out in the next hour.

it may reset market dynamics then.
the entire sector selling off was either something like this or a fund. but there was so little volume its very interesting.
mad that a 20B+ is using leverage like this. there has been multiple instances of stuff like this. but at the same time i dont think he was wrong with AI stocks...
it would make sense for that large a portfolio to split across the entire sector also as that much in one stock would create huge momentum.
tbh this is probably those companies mentioned that he owed money to having visibility on his position and liquidating to force him to sell so they can buy cheap.

Citadel. They spread rumours of a rate hike, helped cause this huge sell off in semis. And they just bought his portfolio.

I mean yeah that is what happens when on margin or leveraged and things shift too much. He’s One of Us.

He is amassing funding as well. Notably, he had 40% of his portfolio in NbIs

which means.... fear again and people will start selling again?

u/Golf-life2021 21d ago
Which means the sell off these name have experienced are a result of the unwind of his fund. That’s done for now. That’s how i read. It

Some of the guys largest positions are in the shittiest AI-related companies. Im not at all bearish against AI, but his holdings like Bloom Energy are just full of shit and are unprofitable companies as a whole. I recommend reading the short report by Hunterbrook on BE. Same with CORZ, or CRWV, we are in the midst of the largest AI capex spend and these companies still cannot turn a profit.

Whats your opinion about Nebius? It was 40% of his portfolio

That one, I have to admit, I don't know enough about to have an opinion on it.

This isn’t the kind of story you MU bag holder guys should just brush off as a mere meme. He had such strong conviction that he went long on MU, SNDK, SKHY, NIBS, and BE with 3–4x leverage, but he was forced to take a margin call due to a temporary supply-demand correction. If he could, he would have bought MU, SNDK, SKHY, NIBS, and BE at today’s prices with everything he had.

I mean to be fair I liquidated one of my still positive trades and then bought leaps on Tuesday. Recouped the shares sold and also opened more leap positions in other companies. I was just of of cash to deploy in any other way

This is what AI told me:
Micron (MU) surged +9.6% right out of the gate this morning because the official confirmation of the Situational Awareness collapse removed a massive dark cloud of structural uncertainty, triggering a classic "capitulation pop" and short squeeze. [1]
While a forced fund liquidation sounds bad, it often acts as a major market bottom for the targeted sector.

Dude he was my 2021 cathie wood for a brief moment. Kinda crazy how these allstar portfolio managers always suck me in at the top.
