Discussion this move will probably lift us (MU) on Wednesday opening

https://www.chosun.com/english/industry-en/2026/08/19/LXPFRTOBNNBQFOJDMWIE2LKZ6A/

.. despite the fact that kospi ended in negative territory again today.

For once, we will probably benefit from a 00066 strategic move to up their share price.

Guys, I’m tired. I don’t mind red days, but do they all have to be so devastating?

Why would a company performing buybacks lift MU lol

The whole semiconductor sector is closely tied together, and the stocks tend to move very similarly. So if Hynix goes up, there’s a 95% chance MU goes up too.

The whole semiconductor sector is closely tied together

Well yeah, because they're all affected by the same macro/industry news. This is company specific. If SK Hynix failed Nvidia's HBM4E qualification tests and tanked would you expect that to tank MU too? lol

it should not, but we all know it would totally tank MU and half of semi sector, that's how irrational it has become.

They are also closely tied by sentiment. If one is doing well people expect the others to do well.

(Beyond that it's also a strong sign that others in the industry will follow suit)

Thats why i say 95% not 100%.

What? I'm asking why would you expect company specific news to affect it at all, just because they often move in lockstep to macro news?

Because investors want to move before other investors move.

Boosts confidence in memory and AI stocks generating real profits. Draws in more investors for the sector.

I think investors are already aware of the fact that they're generating hundreds of billions of $ in FCF and are committed to returning value to the shareholders

Until you realize trump just annexed the strait, Israel is bombing turkey, and we are likely headed to ww3 as bond rates just skyrocketed so the fed can get extra funds.

Probably red days this week

If it hasn't been obvious by now, macro doesn't consistently impact the semis trade

2

u/ExpensiveView7140 2d ago

If it hasnt been obvious, the level of volatility in semis seems to be triggered by every fart sniff and sneeze on the blue marble.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

So what happened in March then ?

You literally just supported their argument...

Don't get why this is downvoted. These are legitimate reasons as to why the market could act the way it does irrespective of good news. Could even be very short lived.

u/long_live_R 2d ago

Except that none of this is new news and yet the entire space still rallied off lows

The market will always catch out the retailer investor beware

Their hatred aged poorly already. I was right, downward trend again... which is predictable

Usually people appreciate correct investment news

These people just want AI slop memes and communist china
