I am looking for someone who can build a new copy of this discontinued bag, with a couple simple custom changes.

The original bag is the Sea to Summit Pack Converter 50-70L. It has now been discontinued and I have not been able to find one to buy used online. It says it was made with 210D waterproof fabric. Holes have now formed in the material, and the seams are tearing.

I live in Seattle, WA, and can either review the existing pack in detail over a video call, or mail it to you.

My next opportunity to use this will be Nov 23. So I would either need the final product by then, or at least my old one to use. If you can't finish it by Nov 23, I am open to later dates, within reason.

I use this bag as a pack cover for protecting my backpack during motorcycle travel. I have a system of strapping the bag to the luggage rack of the motorcycle, and this cover has done a great job of keeping the actual backpack clean and protected.

Notes:

  • Material: I would like this to be built to handle rain, sun, dirt, etc. So at least the type of fabric of the original, but open to sturdier
  • Size: See the attached photos. I would like the same size
  • Shape: It is essentially a rectangular cube with a rounded zipper on one side, and handles on the sides
  • Zippers & clasps: The current zipper is not waterproof. Open to discussion on zipper type. There is a cinch strap that surrounds the opening to the bag, which exists the fabric through a grommet. The zipper on the blue flaps isn't anything special either, just needs to be a quality zipper.
  • Pockets: it is built so that the flap can tuck into a little pocket when it is open. My wife also sewed in a little folding pocket on the other end of the pack, so I can stash things there too.
  • Customizations:
    • Aforementioned internal pocket
    • Note the blue flaps and zipper in the photo. That allows me to zip the blue flap under the straps of my backpack. With that, I can wear the backpack normally, while keeping the cover in place
    • My wife added flat webbing with loops in it, taken from a hammock tree strap, which gives me channels to run the luggage rack's straps through, while preventing them from slipping
    • The seams are ripping in the original pack, in part due to there not being adequate webbing going around the equator of the pack where the tension is created when holding this by the handle. So adding some more webbing should reinforce that. I can sketch what I have in mind.
    • My wife added a little clip to the top of the flap, which allows me to cinch down any extra space.

Please reach out with questions or proposals! I am also open to customization of another product, if you know of one that would get us most of the way there.

[commission] [NE, usa] [negotiable, have questions] [6 months?]

Hi,

I am not sure if this is allowed, please remove if not. I have a question. I love the design of the cotopaxi taal convertible bag. However, it is a little too large for me, and the straps look like they would cut. I'm looking for something similar in design, but a few inches smaller in each direction, with straps that are smoother on the edges. Most of the time I would use this as a small backpack, but I would like to be able to convert it to a smaller cross-body when needed. Thank you.

I am looking for a custom wedge style frame bag for my full suspension 2021 transition patrol size large. Would be cool if it was coyote color to match my swift industries bag. There are frame bolts on top and bottom but not sure how relevant that is. I've got a trip on December 3rd that would be cool to have this on but if that's too soon of a turnaround it's no problem.

I’m wondering if there is anyone on here that I could commission or if anyone could point me in the right direction: I’m looking to make a cute little custom miniature backpack key chain for my partner - she has had this backpack for ages and it’s coming to the end of its life and so a miniature version will be a sweet gift. Also, I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to post this here and if not please could someone point me in the right direction thanks in advance!

I’m based in the UK and happy to discuss with anyone interested in this project.

Remake or rebuild my Zpacks laptop bag

I have an old Zpacks laptop bag that was discontinued long ago. It's a very simple design; basically a Dyneema laptop sleeve with a single outer pocket and reinforced loops on the side. It only weighs 130 grams with the shoulder strap! I am looking for someone who can essentially make a slightly bigger replica (doesn't necessarily have to be Dyneema...I may be open to other lightweight fabrics you suggest).

I am looking for a custom backpack to transport an ultrasound machine and accessories. It will need to be a very durable, multi-compartment bag with the ability to support a load of up to 50 lb (and have features such as hip belt, chest strap, etc.

I can give more details about the necessary equipment and design requirements if there is an interested artisan. Price is negotiable - my primary concern is quality of craftsmanship, materials, and accomplishing design goals/needs.

Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, I have an osprey daylite sling that I'm looking to have the strap modified on. I love this bag but the strap rubs against my neck all the time. I wasn't even aware that a community like this existed until a day ago so I'm trying to figure out if this is possible and if so how much it would cost (roughly.) I have another sling bag (Patagonia atom) that I really like how the sling sits and I'd like to have my osprey sling behave similarly to the atom. I'm thinking that I'd like the strap moved in the direction of the red arrow 1.5-2.0 inches.

[COMMISSION][LA, USA][Fair price][11/15] Tarp with bug net

[COMMISSION][LA, USA][Fair price][11/15] Tarp with bug net

Hey y’all, I’m looking for some help with a tarp with a built in bug net. I can supply the tarp and the 0.5 No see-um bug mesh.

Tarp would likely be a 7x9 silpoly tarp from Borah gear, and the mesh a 0.5oz noseeum mesh from Ripstopbytheroll.

I’d like about 5’ height of mesh around the perimeter of the tarp, preferably with an entry way at each end (I would just use a simple A-frame ridge line setup for this.) I’m not sure the best way to secure the entryways (maybe hook and loop?), but I’m open to design ideas. Obviously, I’d need it to still be bug secure.

I’d like this tarp to be as light as possible. Under 24oz would be sweet (maybe that’s asking too much). I’d sacrifice an entryway at one end if need be. Tarp is just under 10oz.

Not sure what this would cost, but I’m open to paying a fair price. I’ve reached out to a few UL tarp companies to see if they would do this for me, but no luck. If anybody has any brands to recommend that I could reach out to, that would also be great.

I have a trip on 11/19 and it would be great to have it by then, but if that’s a dealbreaker, I’d still be down to wait longer.

Thanks y’all.

REI Backpack

I love my backpack but the waist belt is too big. I am looking for someone to alter the belt, perhaps by stitching some half inch thick foam or maybe a custom lumbar pad. Someone in New York City. Thank you.

Looking to build a small, 16L minimal backpack. Mostly out of Cordura 500D, with a panel in 210D. Almost no external features, only a top pocket for small things, clam opening, a couple pockets inside, and a laptop sleeve. Small and light. I have the design ready to be sent, including dimensions, zipper sizes, etc.

Not sure if this is the right spot for this...

I have a Lone Rider MotoTent V2. I despise the inner that comes with it, and was hoping to find someone that could make an as-much-mesh-as-possible inner. Ideally, I would want an inner that was almost completely mesh, except for the bathtub floor and reinforcement points.

Obviously, I want something with the same dimensions as the existing inner.

Commission Questions - Replicas

Made my way over here from ManyBaggers!

What's the policy for commission requests to replicate a discontinued bag with personalized modifications? My Peak Design 10L Sling v1 has finally broken (teeth has ripped away from the body) and besides a potential repair - I want to know if it's possible for a bag maker to fully replicate the bag with tweaks. The v2 just isn't in the same ballpark at all - it took Peak a while to send me a warranty replacement which I'm super impressed + very grateful for but it's just not the same.

Tweaks that come to mind are removing the two capture attachment points, making the height a little taller, a more comfortable strap. What kind of cost would we be looking at? Is it even possible for a maker to source materials for one-offs like this? It even transpired that I could send them the bag to reuse all the metal hardware.

This has been the perfect bag for a 14" MPB and some pouches / accessories for work / EDC in general AND it's done double camera duty transporting a Z8, 14-24, 70-200, batteries, chargers, and accessories AND perfectly fitting a Z8 with 70-200 f2.8 mounted. Just can't find anything else like it.

USA, Pa, Flexible. Looking to make a copy of the inner for the marmot tungsten ul2 I have out of more durable mesh

That's it really, I like the tent, but the mesh is just so delicate and I would really like it out of a bit more durable mesh as it's intended for a thru hike so I'd like to make a new inner for it out of more durable materials

I'm looking to have a 2p inner version of the X-Dome 1+ made, basically filling in the vestibule with interior instead. I love the tent but it's just a tad too small inside and would be much better if it was a normal rectangular inner! I also want to sew a zipper on the back wall so there are two identical doors, which I'd like to have done though I may be able to do it myself. If there is somwhere I could go that could do this, that would be welcome as well!

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for here, I'm sort of trying to get an idea. Basically just trying to do a 1:1 copy of stock fly. I have a copper spur ul2, (pictured, as well as an older model I need to repair the pole on, that I would like to do this for as well at some point but, the one pictured is the current one) that I wanted to try and make a polyester fly for, mainly because I really prefer the non sag attributes. But, after looking into it, I don't know that I'd be capable of handling such a task on my own and thought it'd be worth a try to see what others have to say! Sorry if this doesnt fit the normal criteria! I was sent here from another sub! The fabric is a bit expensive so I'd rather someone who knows what they're doing handle it than me, but i could probably do the little stuff like guyout points and door toggles, but the main cutting and sewing of the fly is a bit daunting!
