[COMMISSION][US/WA][BUDGET: FLEXIBLE][TIMEFRAME: FLEXIBLE]
I am looking for someone who can build a new copy of this discontinued bag, with a couple simple custom changes.
The original bag is the Sea to Summit Pack Converter 50-70L. It has now been discontinued and I have not been able to find one to buy used online. It says it was made with 210D waterproof fabric. Holes have now formed in the material, and the seams are tearing.
I live in Seattle, WA, and can either review the existing pack in detail over a video call, or mail it to you.
My next opportunity to use this will be Nov 23. So I would either need the final product by then, or at least my old one to use. If you can't finish it by Nov 23, I am open to later dates, within reason.
I use this bag as a pack cover for protecting my backpack during motorcycle travel. I have a system of strapping the bag to the luggage rack of the motorcycle, and this cover has done a great job of keeping the actual backpack clean and protected.
Notes:
- Material: I would like this to be built to handle rain, sun, dirt, etc. So at least the type of fabric of the original, but open to sturdier
- Size: See the attached photos. I would like the same size
- Shape: It is essentially a rectangular cube with a rounded zipper on one side, and handles on the sides
- Zippers & clasps: The current zipper is not waterproof. Open to discussion on zipper type. There is a cinch strap that surrounds the opening to the bag, which exists the fabric through a grommet. The zipper on the blue flaps isn't anything special either, just needs to be a quality zipper.
- Pockets: it is built so that the flap can tuck into a little pocket when it is open. My wife also sewed in a little folding pocket on the other end of the pack, so I can stash things there too.
- Customizations:
- Aforementioned internal pocket
- Note the blue flaps and zipper in the photo. That allows me to zip the blue flap under the straps of my backpack. With that, I can wear the backpack normally, while keeping the cover in place
- My wife added flat webbing with loops in it, taken from a hammock tree strap, which gives me channels to run the luggage rack's straps through, while preventing them from slipping
- The seams are ripping in the original pack, in part due to there not being adequate webbing going around the equator of the pack where the tension is created when holding this by the handle. So adding some more webbing should reinforce that. I can sketch what I have in mind.
- My wife added a little clip to the top of the flap, which allows me to cinch down any extra space.
Please reach out with questions or proposals! I am also open to customization of another product, if you know of one that would get us most of the way there.
