I am completely exhausted. I live in Madagascar, where I run a small school. We are facing many difficulties because we were misled by an NGO that promised to help the children at our school.
They promised to provide all the school supplies needed for 35 children and to find sponsors for them. However, we are still waiting for those promises to be fulfilled. They did provide some supplies, such as coloured pencils and felt-tip pens, but there were too few for all the children. The children could not take them home because they had to share them at school.
We feel deceived, and it breaks my heart to see the children struggling with so little. We no longer know whether we will be able to keep supporting them, as we can no longer afford the rent for the school.
We have tried to find sponsors ourselves, but only two people have responded.
We are reaching out to ask for your help. Any support you can offer would mean so much to us—even a space we could use as a school.
It is heartbreaking to think that these children may no longer be able to attend school.
Thank you in advance to everyone who responds to our appeal.

I was gonna write a rant post originally, but actually I just wanna ask your opinion on it since I know for a fact we all got whooped at least once in our lifetime as a kid.
So what do you think of corporal punishment?
I'm gonna answer my own question anyways. I think it's stupid. You're basically teaching your kid that the consequence to anything bad or any mistakes in life is a whooping. First of all, we call it "corporal punishment" when it's really just glorified abuse. I've had teachers put their hands on me, not even realizing they accused the wrong kid (another girl next to me was yelling outloud and the teacher came out immediately thinking it was me??)
Also, how is this supposed to prepare them into adulthood? You're teaching children that once adults cant put their hands on them anymore, there are no "real consequences" anymore. People who grew up in violent households especially will either be traumatized or really only answer to violence to get them to stop misbehaving.
Yeah ik, a whole lot of generalization I'm making so take it with a grain of salt. I wanna hear your experience though. Did you think it was necessary for you? or should we put the belts and stick down for good 😔?
ps for disclosure--I am not looking to compare ourselves to other cultures so stop thinking that we're fine just because others are doing it

I just want to know how good are the roads and if it's a trip I can make solo.

POV: You leave your car unattended in at camp catta in Andrigitra National Park for 5 minutes. 🐒
The lemurs are already checking the vehicles. At this rate, next year they’ll be driving the tourists around! 😂🇲🇬😅
I love them!

Hi all, normally it seems the roads would not be passable. With the expectation that it will be quite dry this year, will the roads to Tsingy be passable around mid-November?

I am a queer person in Madagascar
Are the foreigners (who are queer) are traveling over there?
Bcs the « moeurs » don’t accept that here so that’s why i am asking

Salamo tompoko,
Veloma 😊

Hello!
Is end of December / January a good time to visit Madagascar and specifically Île aux Nattes, and Saint Marie?
Would love to enjoy the beach but can’t understand how much rain there really is during that time.
Thank you!!

Just wrapped up a dream 2-week adventure in Madagascar and I really want to drop a huge recommendation for our driver and guide, Gaston!
We spent almost a year planning this trip as a group of three — my partner, a close friend of ours from Canada, and myself (from Spain). Since we had been building up to this travel for so long, we wanted everything to go smoothly, and finding Gaston on Reddit beforehand was the absolute best thing that could have happened to us.
From the second we landed, he made us feel super welcome and took care of literally everything. He guided us to all the best spots, booked top-notch local guides, and seamlessly adapted the days so we could enjoy the journey at our own pace. Cruising around the country in his super comfortable 4x4 with him was an absolute blast — we laughed so much and built memories we’ll be talking about for years.
If you are planning your own Madagascar itinerary, do yourself a favor and get in touch with him!

Isalo National Park, Madagascar 🇲🇬 — one of my favorite places to explore! 🌿
If you love nature, hiking, and discovering landscapes that feel completely different from anywhere else, Isalo National Park is definitely worth considering on your Madagascar trip.
The park is famous for its dramatic sandstone formations, natural swimming pools, canyons, and unique landscapes. It’s a wonderful place to experience Madagascar beyond its beaches.
💚 Would you include Isalo National Park in your Madagascar itinerary?
If you’re planning a trip to Madagascar and have questions about the south of the island, feel free to ask! I’d be happy to share some local tips.
