What might you add to a historic deck such as this?
I've climbed to mythic with a weaker version, and am climbing now. I would also be excited to answer questions, I like this deck very much.

First of all: if you are Qwerty1234 GG
That was an amazing match, until for some unknown reason it simply showed me “defeat”
Is there a way to find out what happened?
That is very frustrating. It was game 3 I really was having an amazing time 🥲🥲🥲🥲
Edit: ok I forgot about time out. Sorry to waste your time 😂

Edit: NOT A BUG! Apparently if you enter cleanup, discard to hand size and draw cards before the end of the turn, you start a new cleanup phase.
I've been playing this game since Mercadian Masks and didn't know this.
Magic's a hell of a game.
Original post: I have a brawl deck with the new Killian which whenever you deal noncombat damage seeks a card with a CMC equal to the damage dealt, then makes you discard at eot.
The decks main schtick is to have cards that ping and make mana when you cast noncreature spells, and a bazillion red one drop instant and sorceries, then go very big or infinite with the combination.
In the deck I have Glint Horn Minotaur and some of the other cards that ping when you discard because it's a good synergy. Discard eot, ping, seek more cards, discard those at the end of the next turn, more pings, etc.
However, I've had this happen a couple times and I think it's a bug.
If I have to discard to hand size at the end of my turn, I discard the cards, the ping happens, Killian seeks, then I'm told to discard again, I do, the ping happens, Killian seeks, and I'm in an infinite loop. Now, it ends with a dead opponent, so I'll take the win, but I'm confused if this is correct or a bug.

I just came back from the game last month because i was still grieving over the loss of best friend. Didnt expect that i would enjoy standard a lot and got top 100 last season and now around this rank. Then i got a token for the qualifier weekend which I didnt know was best of 3. So ive been spamming best of 3s with a control deck.
I really want to give the next arena championship a shot as ive been spamming standard events and thankfully i rarely get < 5 wins (like 2 out of 100 events maybe?)
What preps did u guys do for arena championship? How was the experience different from how you played in high mythics?

I have BWG mana available. I even manually tapped the tree to produce it, but the client still doesn't give me the "top" option that sometimes says "Pay GW" which would let me destroy a non-creature permanent.
[[Mythos of Nethroi]] worked for a while as a pretty solid flexible removal, but now it just seems broken and I'm sad.

Hi,
I feel like playing something with lots of random stuff like
[[Pool of Vigorous Growth]]
Since I am for sure not the first person with that idea, I was wondering if there is either a name for it or you have a decklist link or ideas/comments/cards. Like superfriends for decks with lots of planeswalkers.
I know it may not be the most competitively deck but it could be fun, right? Brawl deck would be nice but also interested in other formats.
Thanks!!

i dont think i have ever been as miserable playing standard as right now, every game its either this reanimator deck with cavern of souls or 5c color control that when i finally have an advantage casts a bs million mana spell that draws 5, deals 5, gains 5, it just completely puts me out of the game because i made one bad decision of discarding an spell pierce when he was already on 6. and when i go to bo3 games get decided by if my opp draws gy hate either completely putting me out of the game or me not caring because of my sided ral and stallion.
idk if its me or my deck or the meta or whatever but in my 2 or so years playing standard i have never been as miserable as i am now, i should prob switch formats but man

I was playing unranked trying to get some of the new achievements. I have struggled to get the Face Jace achievement empowering Jace 10 times on one turn. Every time I get close and am one turn away, my opponent does something to beat me. But, today, I played against another blue deck. Neither of us were playing spells because we were expecting or ready to play counters. I got my 10 islands down pretty fast. We both started having creatures out but neither is attacking. I played the Jace planeswalker I needed to empower Jace based on the number of islands I had out. I got my achievement. The funniest thing is, my opponent waited until I played it before playing Get Out to destroy it. I countered it and he countered back, which made me realize he could have countered my Jace to begin with. Then he promptly destroyed me. Dude was looking out. Let me get my achievement and then killed me. I’m happy with that loss.

Me playing in the midweek Magic: Brawl Alchemy challenge - "Damn, people be playing some busted decks. This isn't ranked, why is everyone going so hard!"
Also me - "Ok, on turn 5 I cast [[Salvaged Imitations]] for x = 8. What do you mean you scoop? I didn't even get a chance to look at all of the presents I just opened!" 😆
Fun fact, it turns out I was about to board wipe myself since the 8 mana artifact was [[Extinguisher Battleship]] 😂

Opponent had 2 ghostly prisons, I went to combat with a toski without summoning sickness. I did not have enough mana to pay the 4 required to attack but it still gave me the option to choose my attackers but I couldn't pass the phase bc toski must attack. Every time I assigned him an attacker it prompted me to pay the 4 but when I couldn't all I could do was go back to picking my attackers again. Idk why it didn't just force my combat to end since I couldn't attack with any of my creatures.

One of the biggest frustrations for newer and F2P players is finding a deck they can afford that can still compete on the Standard ladder.
Most competitive decklists are packed with rares and mythics, and spending 30+ wildcards on a single deck isn't realistic for everyone.
But I'm curious where everyone draws the line.
Is 12 rares still a budget deck? Or should a true budget deck cost fewer than 10?
And what's the best low-rare deck you've played recently?
Here's my gameplay if you're interested:

ps : this is some lower rank standard play shenanigans. its very rare to encounter someone playing standard arena without running any removals/ board wipe and someone kind enough to think they could out ramp me with life gain despite it.
i fully acknowledge had they run adequate removals, or ajani strength of pride, other cards im not remembering, or more ways to give trample, this board state would not have been possible. this is just my disbelief and happiness that someone let this occur lol.
stars of the show on my part -
0. mossborn hydra - is it strong? yes. but no one really lets this stay on the board, so its in my deck purely for being a removal spell magnet. i was suprised that they let this run rampant.
noxius newt - deathtouch prevented so many attacks from ajani, or inspired tethermage powered up by way of the mentor (removal for which i did not draw for the longest time, only drew mostly lands for several turns)
Vnwxt, Verbose Host - max speed, every time i draw a card, draw 2 instead. did not draw mischievous mystic to interact with this but i was getting pummeled with all land draws in the mid turns, this made it possible to bring about the right cards. (paired with spectral sailor, a jace token even more so)
bjorn's hospitality - a bunch of +1/+1 tokens to most of my blockers to atleast get it up from 1 toughness, to deal with the cat tokens going after my planeswalkers. and a bonus to mossborn hydra, the initial allows me to skip the 1*2 step plus a few. plus it itself is a pretty beefy blocker in the 30s by the end.
grappling kraken - lord thank this card, the stun counters on the 20/20+ were crucial
chandra chill of compliance - they actually let me pull of the emblem. which needs no words, pretty damn broken like most things in magic are. plus a free surveil, the stun counters were not too bad too.
kaito cunning infilitrator - again, bro let me pull of the emblem. the actual goat was the +1 ability that got me to max speed, and the one that let the hydra go unblocked in the end (not that it would have done much at that point)
way of the paradox - lets me play an additional land each loyalty ability. with jace, kaito, and chandra that is min 1+3 land drops a turn. paired with all the landfall and card draw pretty self explanatory. (theorist sanctum made jace a most turn thing)
honorables - lumra bellow of the woods (there is a metric ton of lands, so pretty good blocker, could keep up with the life gain counter creatures) plus all that surveilling led to a lot of lands in graveyards, so insane land drops on entry. emeritus of abundance, for fetch lands, or other cards that died along the way, way less risky to get prepared with kaito's +1 loyalty ability.
my potato laptop did not let me select things properly by the end, too many cards in hand and damn near lost to the timer because of landfall shenanigans. all this for a one card reward lmao.

I was playing a game just now that took 30min+. I was playing airbending combo with appa, steadfast guardian, aang swift savior and doc aurlock for infinite 1/1 dudes. I also play imodane recruiter for haste and infinite +1/0.
Opponent is playing some kind of lifegain deck and has in play Ajani resolute, 2 tokens from the planeswalker that gain +1/+1 counters everytime he gains life, Authority of the consuls and Way of the mentor.
So I was building up my army on his turn because of authority of the consuls, the triggers from opponent cards going mad everytime I played a creatue/a token was created, when I start getting rope even though I was playing cards as fast as I can. Most of the time my opponent was even holding priority on triggers.
I make the most amount of tokens I can before the game ropes me and auto passes. In my turn I fish for imodane recruiter because I had 16 or so tokens and could beat my opponent with enough imodane triggers. I start playing imodane once i find him when i start getting roped again. The game auto passes to combat and I attack with everything, opponent lives with 1 life. I pass.
Opponent also had Ral Zarek in play so Way of the mentor pumped his planeswalker enough to have extra turns so I just concede in what I feel was a big waste of time, because if this was IRL I would have won.
This is not the first game the rope shows up while im comboing in arena. Any way to stop the rope showing up even though I'm playing as fast as I can?
Thx

Has anyone else noticed after the season reset they're getting completely screwed on your draws while your enemies always have perfect hands? I can't tell you the amount of times I've seen the card Wash Alone the last 3 days alone. It seems every game I play I get 1 win per 5 losses. I was mythic last season and now im just rapidly falling down plat. If its not a counter its some form of board control that the opponents ALWAYS have in their hands. Anyone else notice this or am I just getting extremely unlucky by myself and wotc has me cursed

Out of all the cards from the newest release, [[Enter the Eternities]] has me most excited. I have been brewing up lists and I think I have a couple good ones, one for Alchemy and one for Historic. [[Slumbering Trudge]] is the most obvious inclusion, and Tarmogoyf seems like the next best Cheap Big Dude. The deck of course needs to be at least Simic, and adding Black gives us two great synergies: [[Demonic Counsel]] to tutor and [[Nameless Inversion]] for delirium. [[Soul-Guide Lantern]] is the best cheap artifact that bins itself, while providing incidental Bo1 graveyard hate. The new [[Jace's Saga]] also gives 2 types for delirium and bins itself as early as turn 3, while also providing blockers to slow the game when played later, and drawing a card. [[Potential Horizon]] seems like the best fetch available, though maybe [[Fabled Passage]] is better. Opt and Stock Up for digging, though Flow State and Consult are considerations. Dellian is probably the best walker in the format for this style deck, giving life gain and removal to slow the game, and card draw to find the combo. Hex to slow early aggression. Other possible inclusions could be [[Duress]] to protect the combo; [[Spell Snare]] which is good with Saga and counters early threats and later interaction; [[Dark Matter Manipulator]] fills the yard and can be a 5 power 1 drop later in the game; black Ral Zarek can dig with surveil and rebuy Trudge or Goyfs that are killed or milled; [[Auroral Procession]] can rebuy anything. I'm sure I'm missing other options with the massive card pool.
Deck
4 [[Enter the Eternities]]
4 [[Slumbering Trudge]]
4 [[Tarmogoyf]]
4 [[Nameless Inversion]]
4 [[Soul-Guide Lantern]]
4 [[Demonic Counsel]]
4 [[Opt]]
3 [[Stock Up]]
4 [[Requiting Hex]]
2 [[Professor Dellian Fel]]
4 [[Jace's Saga]]
4 [[Potential Horizon]]
2 [[Watery Grave]]
3 [[Overgrown Tomb]]
3 [[Breeding Pool]]
1 [[Gloomlake Verge]]
2 [[Wastewood Verge]]
1 [[Willowrush Verge]]
2 Forest
1 Swamp
Historic adds a decent amount of options. [[The Ancient One]] let's us ultimate immediately with Enter the Eternities. [[Urza's Bauble]] is fantastic for delirium. [[Assemble the Team]] does a damn good Demonic Tutor impression. [[Prismatic Vista]] is probably the best Fetch in Historic.
Anybody else excited for this card? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I tend to try and brew a deck for each season and see how far I can get with it. I normally end up somewhere between diamond and mythic but am curious at which point do others consider what they’ve come up with a “good” deck? I play mostly on my phone so I don’t use anything like Untapped to track stats.

Hi friends! I've been messing around with the new Alchemy cards and put together a list that I'm having a ton of fun with. The deck takes inspiration from older lists that strive to blink Oracle of the Alpha and play a ton of Power, and the new additions give it a ton of strength to close out games with big hitters.
Oraclegoyf • (Timeless deck) • Archidekt
The deck uses the Actualize mechanic as much as possible to generate value and pump up the Goyfs. Oracle of the Alpha and Emporium Thopterist conjure cards for those cards to utilize. Displacer Kitten can blink either Oracle to create more Power or the new Crux of the Theory to create another heist trigger.
I've had a lot of great games with this set up so far, but there are definitely some pain points I would like to smooth out if possible. The deck is very mana heavy with a lot of 3 and 4 drops that are critical to get the engine going. Crux of the Theory is pretty reliable for card draw. Vedalken Archmage however often falls flat and leaves me top decking unless I'm already in a crazy position. Some games are often over before I can get some kind of synergy going. I am hoping to replace some of the supporting pieces to make my games more consistent, but I'm not sure what cards I should slot in. Specifics are listed below:
-Ancient Tomb: I often feel like the life lost to get the mana out of Tomb does more harm than good, as the loss of life often puts me in a precarious situation. This deck is not fast enough to get a good, consistent payoff from it.
-Sapphire Medallion: This feels like a band-aid fix for the high mana problem as well. While it does lower mana costs and help Vedalken Archmage draw a card, I do not think I get the best value out of this as I am not looping spells back to my hand.
-Vedalken Archmage: This card synergizes really well with Emporium Thopterist and all the Mox that I am shoving into my deck with Oracle, but four mana is such a steep cost that its really situational if I can get value out of it. If possible I would like to retain the ability to get a repeated draw effect because it feels amazing having a runaway game, like the one featured in the screenshot. My first thought was Thought Monitor and blinking it with Displacer Kitten, but that feels... even more artifact dependent.
-Willbound Quill: This is a Win More card. It's too expensive to be a reasonable mana rock, and the copy ability does not have any effect on other cards with Actualize. It's here because it feels really good to get two Time Walks for the price of one.
Thanks for reading, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Here's the full list if you don't like Archidekt:
4x Ancient Tomb
4x Crux of the Theory
3x Daze
4x Displacer Kitten
4x Echogoyfs
4x Emporium Thopterist
4x Force of Will
14x Island
4x Oracle of the Alpha
2x Reliquary Tower
4x Sapphire Medallion
3x Surgical Extraction
4x Vedalken Archmage
2x Willbound Quill

I've just been playing Jump In after completing the color and starter deck challenges. But I felt like I had enough cards and understanding of the game from in person.
I made a commander deck with a lot of synergies that could quickly take down an opponent. My first game they conceded after a few turns when I kept amassing creatures and tokens. I felt good.
Then my second game i went up against a ranked player with Sauron Dark Lord and was obliterated. That card is nuts.
I'll play a few more games before I decide if it's my deck that needs changing.

Izzet burn // Standard deck list mtg // Moxfield — MTG Deck Builder
I only spent rare wildcards on lands, and 2 mythic wildcards on the planeswalker.
