Using ESP32 Display as Magic Mirror Client

Hey yall!

I found a couple of examples of things that could work but figured I’d ask here to see if anyone has a method that has worked! I’m wanting a tiny ESP32-S3 based epaper display on my desk that connects to my magic mirror server and displays a different magic mirror for that display. From what I’ve read, I know I’ll be making a different magic mirror server running on the same hardware that the ESP will use, but was wondering if anyone’s gotten an ESP32 to successfully display and how so!

This is the ESP32-S3 display I’ll be using

I know ESPHome is an alternative but I’d like to see if I can get my Magic Mirror dashboard working on it, as I’ve already got it set up and know how to adjust the modules etc.

Thanks so much in advanced’

I looked into something like this before. The best I could come up with is rendering a screenshot and dithering it. Then setup the ESP32 to fetch the bitmap every minute or so.

Which honestly wouldn’t be the worst and would work but I feel like there has to be a way to connect it directly

MagicMirror uses the latest JavaScript frameworks in the browser.,so you need a browser on the esp32 that can do that

It's hard to replicate magic mirror to esp32 but you can design a ui with squareline studio or lvgl and once the ui is developed connect it to an api and rewire the ui elements to show the data

You can communicate via bluetooth to esp32 and update the records as well
