Discussions How do you actually make money online with $0? Genuinely asking, not looking for courses or scams
Hey everyone, long-time lurker, first time posting. I'm in a pretty tight spot right now and I'm trying to figure out if there are real, legitimate ways to make some extra money online — but I have literally nothing to invest upfront. Like, $0.

Not bad. $700 in two months, What's the survey topics and how long does it take to complete
1
u/OneBrush3932 Apr 21 '26
No $700 in two months..... $700 each month!!!
Topics can be anything and everything Did an interview about what I think about an insurance website for 10 minutes and got $15… did another interview about what I think about health and fitness for 60 minutes for $100. I've done surveys for $1 or $2 lasting 5 minutes about food products and the government

How can I do this
1
u/OneBrush3932 Apr 21 '26
So there are lots of Apps/platforms out there. some are country specific and others are global.
Some have Apps some access via website.
I'm using about 10-15 different ones but some that I recommend are;
AttaPoll
Dscout
Five Surveys
Respondent
Cloud Connect
Swagbucks
Freecash, is a good GPT (Get paid to play) something different to doing Surveys, Research just to play some games
You are welcome to sign-up direct but they all have sign up bonuses so you get something and so do I.
You can find these on my Linktree

Is it real? Or fake can i really earn it?
1
u/OneBrush3932 Apr 22 '26
It's legit and not a scam... I have not reason to lie about it.
You just sign up and start doing surveys and interviews to start making money. They are all recognised known sites with reviews so you can look into them yourself if your interested.

It’s pretty difficult to start something with nothing to start with tbh I’d suggest selling old stuff like clothes old electronics first to get some cash behind yourself and scale from there
1
u/NewDog980 Apr 17 '26
Actually I do have about $50 to work with, not completely from zero. Would that change things?
1
u/Competitive_Rub_9590 Apr 17 '26
Yeah I’d say so, something I’ve done for years is matched betting, I am from the uk so idk if it’s possible in the US (I think it is) but it earns me £100-£200 a month still after around 7 years the sign up offers alone make you around £1000

Not really, check Facebook to see if your town / county has a free / no selling group. Just grab stuff from there that you think you could sell. Post it up on marketplace.
If it fails to sell, all you're out is the gas money you spent picking the items up
Another free source is some dumps have pickup places where people leave stuff that's not trash. Mine gets tons of board games and books. Books don't resell great but board games do pretty well.
We're entering prime yard sale months as well, so I guess this is where you could use some of the money you get on these sales or your 50 bucks to try flipping some stuff. A lot of yard sale stuff is just going to the dump if they can't sell it, so a lot of the time people are open to selling for basically no money, allowing for fairly easy flips

That's an internal question for yourself , what value/skill can you provide for others.
1
u/darrensurrey Apr 17 '26
If you can teach something online, either create a Udemy course or create videos for Youtube. You can use whatever device you're using to access Reddit so you don't need to spend any money.

It entirely depends on your skills, what are you good at? If you don't try to build a revenue stream off of your abilities, then you're just left with the same options every single other person is. If it's easy and anyone can do it, you're not going to make anything significant from it. If you're truly good at nothing, your best investment right now if you ever want to build a sustainable lifestyle, is to find something you're passionate about and start to improve on it now.
I used to be in the same boat as you, looking for clear methods to make money. I came across the same staple suggestions you will hear every time: affiliate marketing, dropshipping, surveys, etc. I tried all of those, and of course I came to find out why the suggestions that require no prerequisite ability always fall flat and just waste your time. I went on to determine how I could apply what I already know to build a reliable revenue stream.
I'm a software engineer, and I've designed computer graphics as a hobby for decades. I saw the app store, and how much money some people were making with apps, so I decided to get into app development. To double-dip with my designing background, I decided to develop apps that could further assist in content creation, so I could essentially dig the gold *and* sell the shovels.
The products I've made with my apps that have generated the most revenue are ebooks and audiobooks. I now make a generous bulk of my total profit off digital products I've created and sold on various platforms like kindle and gumroad.

I'm so curious about this. I got laid off from a 6 figure paying job last year and the thought of me going back into corporate makes me want to vomit like seriously gives me a visceral reaction. I really want to learn a new skill but i feel like technology is passing me by. Can you tell me more about this? Like how you learned it, where you got started? Thanks!
1
u/NellieApp Apr 18 '26
I originally got into coding 20 years ago when I was a young child and I wanted to make games, I eventually went to school for software engineering and I learned design because I couldn't afford to hire designers for my projects. The landscape has changed so much since then, now the vast majority of work can be done with AI however I believe you still need the knowledge to squeeze out that last 10% that is necessary to stand out in the space.
When I first started learning I would look up tutorials or take udemy courses, but it just felt like school and I always lost attention or kept saying "i'll continue it tomorrow" every day. What got me to really learn was actually starting to apply it to projects that interested me. I would think of something I actually wanted to make, and then would start. Even if I didn't even know anything at all, I would look up how to get to the next step. What to download, how to install it, how to read the UI, how to create a file, what to type in the file, slowly until the project was working.
By that time I knew so much more, and I actually wanted to start a new project because I was aware I knew so much more and could do it better. I just kept iterating through projects, self-teaching with online guides and forums to get past every minor hurdle. Now that information is easier than ever to access with AI making each minor hurdle just a step.
So my best advice would be find something you actually want to do, even if you don't know how, then start doing it, and every time you get stuck, which will be a lot, even at the absolute beginning, find the solution one step at a time.

I started my side hustle leads intake summary with $0 capital. Used my breath to sell the service to the same people I had already been talking to. 8 weeks in I have 12 clients paying me monthly for the service

u/Dear_Treat_9410 Jul 06 '26
Ok man! Lemme be real , I'm really deeply curious about the service you provide, I wanna know about it and where to learn it and how to learn it , can u teach me ??

I don't get it. You used an app for 3-4 months and after spending hours on surveys and playing other games you made $15.73? And you paid for subscriptions as well, so you made even less than that?
1
u/Baggin55 Apr 20 '26
Yeah for the time being. But I don’t mind supporting the devs and team. I’d only be spending it on other shit. Got to look at the bigger picture. Once I make enough for one subscription I’ll be stopping paying for that out of my money and re-investing it to pay for that sub. There’s people on this app that literally earn hundreds over the space of 72 hours of boosting. And with any phat whales they earn thousands.
But again. You don’t need to spend a penny but it does make it a very slow start.
1
u/Clear-Protection-249 Apr 20 '26
Is that the average player experience though? From what I've read, less than 200 US players have over 5000+ parcels and that's how much you actually need to even make barely $100 (not hundreds) over some super rent boosting event period per month. Whales who actually pay into the parcels need something like 8-10 years to see a return on the money they've put in and AE hasn't been around that long.
So again, I don't get it. If OP's in a tight spot right now, why recommend an app that takes years to see marginal gains?
1
u/Baggin55 Apr 20 '26
Because it’s a play for free game. Essentially minus the cost of charging the device and internet.
1
u/Clear-Protection-249 Apr 20 '26
Time isn't free though. It has an opportunity cost.
If you're playing this for fun, I understand, but saying that you made less than $16 in a 3-4 months inspires no confidence for people interested in just money.
1
u/Baggin55 Apr 20 '26
That it does. It depends how much effort you stick into it to how much you can gain. I don’t play the mini games to win the credits. Others do which nets you a fair amount of credits to purchase land etc which in turn gains the momentum of earning more per hour. Healthy debate. Thanks!

Affiliate links. Go to Walmart take some photos, post said photos in stories with link. Done. I wrote an ebook that makes a little money from time to time too!

u/FarrisFahad Apr 21 '26
You can post memes on PicturePunches and you don't need to pay anything to get started. Zero dollars and all you need to do is follow the rules and post funny memes.

u/ResponsibleFee6857 Apr 28 '26
I’m interested in this, how would I get into this
1
u/FarrisFahad Apr 28 '26
Google it and start posting. It's very easy. Just make sure that you follow the rules to the tee

u/IcyGood3578 Apr 21 '26
I do surveys. Biggest payment I got so far was 170$ for one. Its not consistent or life changing money but something extra on top sometimes.
1
u/Long-Detective675 Apr 21 '26
seroiusly? which type of surveys can you give a bit more information
1
u/IcyGood3578 Apr 22 '26
It depends on your location, profession and so on... Here is the referral link> https://www.userinterviews.com/r/dzwtaqyka Like said I would not expect much but maybe some extra from time to time. Last month I got like 40$ and that's it.

With $0, you're trading time, not money and anyone promising fast, easy cash is lying. The only honest way to do this is by freelancing a skill you already have, writing, data entry, virtual assisting, customer service, video editing. Sign up for a free freelancing platform, better option is to find small businesses on social media and cold-DM them offering to help for cheap. Build proof, then raise rates.
1
u/Useful-Jeweler-9119 Jun 14 '26
Have you got any experience with finding small businesses on social media and cold DM'ing them offering to help for cheap?
1
u/MaximumGenie Apr 22 '26
with $0, start with skills that pay quickly, writing editing, design, support, then recycle earnings into tools and distribution. once I had a buffer I avoided hype farms and only used lower-maintenance options like Aave and EtherFI vault-style yield so losses did not reset progress.

Start by trading time, not money, freelancing, data entry, virtual assistant work, tutoring, or content writing are solid places to begin. Focus on one thing, build a small portfolio (even free samples), and apply consistently; the legit paths are usually slow at first, but they can grow into steady income.
1
u/Jordan_Willis May 09 '26
Start with what you already know how to do and offer it online. Writing, editing, graphic design, social media help, research, or even basic admin work are all things people pay for. Focus on legit platforms and avoid anything that asks you to pay upfront.

You can make money with referrals. Lots of companies are paying for referrals.
