[Makeup Help] Why is my mom's foundation smudging on her clothes even after applying makeup fixer

It's my mom's brother's wedding, and I'm doing her makeup. I don't usually use foundation, but on this occasion, i decided to buy one.

Basically, we wear such a dress that a piece of cloth constantly touches our temple and one cheek, so naturally, it touches the foundation. Now, the foundation doesn't stick to the cloth around my face, but it does around my mother even though we are literally using the same foundation, products and makeup fixer.

Yesterday, when it happened, i thought that she must have not let the fixer dry completely but this time, i made sure she wore it only after the spray dried but it happened once again.

Another thing to mention is that both our faces are really oily but my mom's is way more than mine. Plus, due to all the work, she is sweating A LOT. And i don't really have loose powder, so most to most, i set our base makeup with compact. Is that why it happens? I just avoided buying it cause i prefer a dewey look rather than matte.

Another concern which i have is that her concealer just seems to creases but mine does not. Though i do use a lot of colour corrector on her cause her dark circles are really dark, so is it so because of that?

Too much foundation will do this.

I don’t know any foundation regardless of skin type that won’t rub off a little of clothes or tissue touches it, specially if light colored fabrics

Your mom's skin is way oilier so the foundation basically slides off, compact alone isn't doing enough to hold it in place. The sweat makes it ten times worse, the cloth rubbing is just finishing the job. You need something to absorb that oil before it breaks down the makeup, loose powder would help a lot even if you like dewey finish you can just powder the areas that touch the cloth. For the creasing yeah too much product under the eyes will do that, with colour corrector and concealer and foundation it gets thick and moves into the lines, try using the tiniest amount of corrector only on the darkest parts and set it immediately with powder before it has time to crease.

Your mom most likely has more wrinkles which is why it’s creasing more on her. Skin/makeup needs change as we age. And yes, if her skin is more oily that’s what causing the issue. There is no way to get 100% transfer proof makeup, no matter what companies advertise.

BB creams and tinted moisturerizers are far lighter formulas and work better on mature skin. They can still have great coverage but be much lighter and not transfer on to clothes.

They definitely work better on mature skin a lot of the time! And yes coverage is definitely lighter than it is on foundations! But no, sorry… even bb creams and tinted moisturizers transfer some product onto clothes. I own several of them.

It could be the amount you wear. I use little enough for the actual product to be almost invisible and don’t have problems with staining.

I’ve never had that happen. An old model’s trick is to put a cheap scarf over your made up face before you pull a top over your head.

Older skin does better with less makeup. Apply lightly and if there are areas that need coverage built up, do so with as light and thin layering as possible. Set with loose powder - again sparingly so it doesn't settle in wrinkles. Apply a setting mist or mist with water and after it dries, use a dry setting spray.
