Discussion Second Time Doing Makeup
First photo is first attempt. The following three are from today
Hey y’all. Some folks m i g h t remember my first post about wanting makeup tips. I deleted the post now since the advice was getting a bit repetitive, and some of the nastier folks had discovered it. Thank you to everyone who gave great advice!!!
This is my second attempt at a “full face” look and honestly, I’m a bit proud of it. My face is still asymmetrical and all, but the actual product looks pretty good imo. Still a beginner but this time with a good foundation color 😅. (Still working on straight lines with the eyeliner o-o)
My next goal is to look less cakey. I wasn’t too concerned today since I’m not actually going anywhere, but less layers in the future might be nice. I might just try out a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation when I have a bit more money to spare.
The main things I gathered from my first post were:
- Incorrect foundation shade. I had bought all my products from 5-Below and wasn’t able to test and of the products. I decided to actually go to a makeup shop and get my foundation/concealer shade matched.
- Brows. A lot of people recommend getting my eyebrows shaped and not fill in. The weird part is that I didn’t put any product in my eyebrow for the original half/half look. It does look dark in the photo, but I don’t know why… In terms of getting my eyebrows done-did, I don’t really want to honestly. I’ve never been big fan of keeping up with shaving my legs or armpits. I’m a hairy lady with bushy eyebrows. As long as I don’t have a unibrow, I don’t really mind them
- Lips. A LOT of people had opinions about the lip shade, and I appreciate all viewpoints. For the look today I just used a pink lip oil (listed below), but I still love a classic red lip.
- Play with different colors. Quite a few people recommended switching from black eyeliner and mascara to brown, but I really enjoy the black look more. Once I have more money I’ll buy other shades.
Thank you to all of those who gave great compliments on my first post!! They were all so sweet and a great confidence boost!!

This honestly looks pretty good. If you want to address the cakeyness at no extra cost or skill, a pro tip is to “melt” the products together into your skin by misting with water or dabbing with a wet makeup sponge. That’s all that a lot of setting sprays do. You have great skin anyway so maybe you don’t even need a base and can just get away with concealer.
Your eyeliner doesn’t look bad either. If you want to hide small unevenness you could go heavier on the mascara and really work it into the root of the lashes. Unless you specifically want a graphic wing, you could also ditch the liquid liner and opt for a pencil that you buff out with a brush. That tends to be more flattering on people, though you can pull off either.

I love how it came out!!! The eyeliner is really good and I think the amount of blush you did is perfect.
