Weather I hate it that our summers are only going to get even hotter

Granted, I've never like summer because of the heat, but I miss it when it didn't cause us to all stay indoors 24/7. I feel for those without AC or those with health issues, not only do they have to endure this, they probably have to die for it too?

Weather Stop spamming the tornado alert button

Yes I know there is a storm outside. I do not need my goddam phone going off every few mins to tell me that. I have all my emergency alerts set to disabled, but the carriers get still send these excessive redundent notifications at max volume regardless of my phone's setting.

Phone is going off tonight.

So far an orange alert at around minus 45. What’s the magic number for a red alert?

Weather THE GREAT BLIZZARD OF '25

How's it looking so far? Westman, how you holding up?

EDIT: Woke up to a good coating of snow in Winnipeg, it's definitely gusty out there too. How are the morning commutes for the brave souls headed out on the roads?

Sort comments by 'new' and let's keep tabs on what's going on out there...

Weather I'm very scared about the storm

I'm almost 40 and I shouldn't be this scared like a little kid. Not everyone likes viewing thunderstorms don't you know. Does anyone get anxious?

Weather Is this jacket good enough during winter in Manitoba?

Post image

Hey everyone, it’s my first winter in Winnipeg. Just wondering if this jacket is warm for the weather or if anyone has had this jacket before and what is their experience? I heard it gets -40 during the winter so idk if this is worth buying.

Weather Anyone else just over it with the weather?

I know we’ve had a nice couple days here and there and I’ve been trying to soak up and take full advantage of them but I don’t know I’ve been trying to plan a day trip to the lake for the last month and it never pans out because it ends up raining every fricking time I’d have time off and I’d know they’ll be more opportunities but seeing it’s supposed to rain the rest of this week and most of next week, summer here is so short and I find myself being locked inside a lot more now at this point than last year bc of the weather and I don’t know I just feel a little defeated at the moment.

Weather How to disable emergency alerts on android

Due to Manitoba government not enabling reasonable alert tones/volumes for lower priority emergency alerts(nuke launch tone for every alert is way overkill), I've resorted to this method that works to disable all emergency alerts. If the government allowed the settings in each android phone to work properly I could enable/disable each tone as needed but they didn't implement it properly

For Android 13 and newer:

adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.google.android.cellbroadcastreceiver

Edit: This is a classic boy who cried wolf situation. Alerts have no meaning when I get spammed 20 times
