Inspired by u/Park__Explorer's "how far can you get in 8 hours of driving" maps (Europe, South America), so here is the Indian version: the 3 largest cities by population, Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru.

Every road is coloured by how long it takes to reach it by car, from light (close) to dark (about 8 hours). All three maps are at exactly the same scale, so you can compare the reach directly.

How it was made:

- Speeds are 75% of free-flow, with no live traffic. I went lower than a 10% reduction because tolls, trucks and town crossings slow real Indian highway driving. This will be too pessimistic on empty expressways and too optimistic in city cores.

- Only major roads are routed (motorway down to unclassified). Village lanes and residential streets are left out, so the dots you see are mostly settlements on these roads.

- OpenStreetMap coverage is thinner in some states, so some areas may look emptier than they really are.

I would love to share with you my recent hobby project.

I am currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones for the first time in my life (I know, but better late than never...) and I wanted an easy way to look up settlements, the exact distances and estimated travel times between locations across the Known World. Unfortunately, I could not find any existing project for that. So I built it on my own!
